Will this be going up anytime soon? (Sorry my intention isn't to rush this - just want to know whether or not I should start hunting around on classifieds or not).

I'm up for one too if the price is right. How hard is it to open a switch without this tool?

Yeah. I miss stainless steel switch tool. So i can't miss this tools :)

You 'll know when you remove top housing switch on openable plate. I usually two tweezer curved, but it have more step to do that. After long time, you 'll feel tired & your act is not exactly. You 'll make copper plate curve....
Therefore i must be buy switch tools :(

Can these only be used to open pcb-mounted switches or would they work with plate mounted ones too?

Depends on the type of plate

You need the plate with special notches at the side of each switch slot to be able to use these switch tools on plate mounted switches

How about a sand blasted finish instead of a B finish?

It has a slight grippyness to it.

Sandblasted finish looks great. Honestly, I would probably chose that over anything else based simply on the fact you said it's easier to grip. When you're working with smaller tools and parts like these any little bit of extra grip really helps. If I get a set I was actually considering putting plasti-dip on the top part of the tool for that reason.

I'm afraid sandblasted finish will scratch the inside tabs on an MX switch.  :-X

I blasted another one last night and tested them, I didn't see any indication of scratching.

If memory serves, I believe it's going to be a first come first serve sale, nothing you have to reserve a spot for.

Yes, however, if you participated in the ti plate buy I ran, they DO get preference since I wasn't able to get these done at the same time as their plates.

Other than that, first come first serve
