There are a ton of sites that handle the money and distribution of winning too, or we could vote on a prize to purchase with the winnings (think keyboards :))

Just send it all to me, I promise I won't steal it.

Looking forward to this season! We just need to pick the draft date far enough in advance so I can take the day off work!

Right now it shows Aug 28th, iirc.

I picked it as Aug 28th because that's the weekend I'm at the 24/7 LAN haha. But we can change it. It fell in well last year around that time because we had to keep pushing back because we didn't have a full league.

Does anyone else think it would be cool to do an entry fee so that we could pay for some sweet, sweet prizes? I've been doing fantasy the last couple of years and the leagues  with something to lose have been far more engaged.

I think we can do it on the official NFL site. I have a bit more time to look this time, so I will.

And we can always make it bigger if we get more interest. Maybe I should start a new thread...

Also, I'm still up for doing a "The League" style weekly video. It may involve a bit more trash talking than some of you are comfortable with... So yeah. Maybe not :P
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

More trash-talking = better.

And new thread is probably better than having this one that reminds us how that jerk hwood beat us all. :P

Turns out I can remove anybody who doesn't want to play. Sooooo....

Out of the 10 people in the League now, PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU WISH TO STAY OR LEAVE THE LEAGUE. I will basically leave it for a month or so for everyone to let me know in this thread, then I can add or remove people. When we have a good idea how many people we have in the League, I can make another thread.

So, current list of participants (until informed otherwise)

  • Me
  • Absyrd
  • Bueller
  • Boost
  • TJ Caustin
  • Hoff
  • hwood
  • Signature
  • pr0ximity
  • JD Carpe

Hopefully I won't forget this time and can actually pick Rodgers myself instead of having to trade for him.

The only time I ever won money was when I accidentally missed a draft. I did, however, do some serious waiver action late in the season.

I'm bumping this up, we are currently just over a month until the scheduled draft day, and I still don't have a concise list of who is in or out.

I'm guessing:

Hoff, hwood, absyrd, and JD, TJ too. Bueller confirmed now and R1N3 has joined, so up to 8.

Need one more person, plus confirmation from Boost, Signature and Pr0ximity please.

I'm not hugely active on GH any more but I'll definitely still be keen for FF.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Doesn't look like I can up it to 12 people on my phone, but I might be able to do it on my PC. If not I may have to close it and reopen a new one. Either that or kick some people out 0.0

I will look tomorrow.

League has now been upped to 12 teams, so we need one more person to complete the league, ready for the draft.

Brady's four game suspension has been upheld by the NFL. Does this relegate him to a 2nd string? Was he a second string already with the rising ratings of the 2012 draft class? (RG3 excluded ofc) Or do you take him as your first string and have someone fill in for the first 4 weeks?

Or was nobody thinking of taking him at all? Although I refuse to believe there are 24 QBs in the NFL better than Brady.

Well there is an option to do a blanket scoring change from NFL standard to PPR, and other types, but I think I did some custom settings last season, and this is where we are right now:

Story is also updated.

BOOST IS IN! So we are officially a full ten man league with everyone confirmed!

It's probably a bit difficult with int'l players, but it'd be cool if we could do some kind of silly prize for the games.  A couple of my old leagues did where the loser would send the winner a regional snack pack.  Like cheese and summer sausage when I beat hoof, ribs and fajitas when I take jd down.  That kind of stuff.

That would be cool. Not sure how financially invested people would want to be in it, but I would definitely be up for it.

I'm not a fan of the negative scoring, but maybe that's just me. For instance, say I'm playing someone and I have a running back on the team that my opponent's defense is playing that day. If my running back fumbles the ball, and their defense recovers, that is a net 4 point gain for my opponent, almost as much as scoring a touchdown.

I mean then people would have no problem picking up fumble prone running backs since there's near no risk in it (except for a few lost yards by the drive being cut short)

I think negative points are good for punishing the worst offences. That's why I added it for missed FGs of 0-19 yards, and it's on all turnovers, and really weak defences.

I understand the worry about the swing like that, but all the negative points are on things that are a pretty big deal.

We can get rid of them if people want, but I think they are good.

Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

It's probably a bit difficult with int'l players, but it'd be cool if we could do some kind of silly prize for the games.  A couple of my old leagues did where the loser would send the winner a regional snack pack.  Like cheese and summer sausage when I beat hoof, ribs and fajitas when I take jd down.  That kind of stuff.

You send me cheese and sausage when you beat me?  Deal.

+1 for negative scoring, sorry jd. Fumbles are a punishable offense for RB's.

Gifts to the victors each week sounds like an interesting idea. Moxie anyone?  :)) Might have to think of some lighter ideas.

Boost is now in! We have now confirmed all 10 team owners, and the last thing to do is confirm when is a good time to do the draft for everyone. We only had about four people doing it live last time I think? I would like to have as many people as possible this time.

I have set it for August 28th because I am going to be at a 24 hour LAN so I can guarantee I will be up for whatever time people in the US want to do it. It's set for 10pm EDT, so 3am UK time, 4am CEST, and what, 7pm PST?

I'm basically free from Thursday night until early hours Monday morning UK time.

August 24-29 is bad for me, personally. I will be aboard the Carnival Triumph in the Western Caribbean.

Well I can still guarantee being around in US TZ on the Saturday or Sunday night.

Standard scoring please! I've played in some leagues with custom scoring and it's easy to make a mess of the balance IMO. I can make just about any draft time, Sunday afternoons/evenings are bad for me though because of Perth being about 12 hours ahead of the US.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.
