Exactly what it sounds like. It even has a low starting bid. It looks to be in great condition, too.

That's pretty tempting for someone looking for their first Model M. However, the multiple warnings about how fragile the components can be sorta puts me off (see the bottom of the HGWiki). Thanks for the notice though Aer!  :thumb:

Just a note, this isn't a starter board. This is someone's end game board, or at least a collector's piece. It's an industrial (identified by the greenish grey color and the black IBM logo). They are much, much rarer than standard Model Ms and sometimes they command astronomical prices.

It's an industrial M13 which is rarer than the standard M industrial.

On top of that, it's an earlier MaxiSwitch version with the IBM style trackpoint and black logo, and not the later Unicomp version.   Even more rare.

Those things may not get noticed however and this might slip by for a "reasonable" price.

This is geekhack. A reasonable price for the people here would be $800 or thereabouts.

The only component you have to be careful with is the trackpoint, because under normal operation it doesn't take a lot of pressure to move it and it's bounded by the keys around it.  With the keys pulled off you could accidentally brush the pointer too hard and knock it out of its mount.

I know this, because I did this on one of my black M13's when I was pulling it apart for a bolt mod.  Luckily that part is readily available from Unicomp.

Otherwise, it's no more fragile than a standard M.  The button cutout is not that weak and it's easy to be careful around the ribbon cable running to the pointer.

Sold for $220 + shipping, great deal for this board.   Would have went for a LOT more six or nine months back...
