How many more sets are needed? I've really been debating picking up a set but I'm hesitant to drop $120 on MX gear when I've literally barely touched my MX boards since getting the RealForce. I don't mind picking up a set though if it will help push us closer to MOQ.

Realforce EK45 (Silenced)  |  Realforce 87UW (45g)  |  Realforce 87UWS (Variable)
Filco MJ2 TKL (Cherry Clears)  |  Phantom 87 (78g Gateron Clears)  |  Phantom 86 (67g Zealios)

I think we're right around the number we need to break even at that price, so you don't have to order, if you aren't using MX. But every order helps, too. :D

Joined at the last moment, hopefully it doesn't take any longer than 4 or 5 months as I'll be living elsewhere haha.

I think you could still update your new address. I'm not sure about it but ask JD.

Yes, you can update your shipping address at any time before the sets ship.

Perfect, thanks very much!

Typically 6-8 weeks for production.
it's random and often depends on what other group buys they have going on.
in my experience you will be waiting around 2 - 3 months but it could be longer if something special like the recent Granite R2 gb happens.
Thanks for the fast replies

I've placed my order, this set goes too well with the board I have in transit: it has orange backlighting.

It is very unlikely that you will see any backlighting through the tops or sides of the keys - SA keycaps are very thick.

The best you'll get is a bit of underglow.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I love the amber and dark grey, reminds me of my dumb terms.  I should check to see if my Link MC5 has a mechanical keyboard. Probably not. But maybe I can get a Wyse keyboard for it with Cherry.

I wish there was a button on my modern monitor to make it look like an amber monochrome; the screens always look edible.

(EDIT: Interesting, it looks like it has Cherry blacks of some kind. I could use these on my terminal keyboard. Neat.)

I trust you with that. I almost have some regret not buying several sets but I don't know what to expect as I have never tried SA caps. Additionally I don't have the money for them as well haha.

You always buy the sets then buy the keyboards later on.  Still prefer to leave the key-sets on keyboards and buy new keyboards to fill out, with NEW key-cap purchases.

This is GEEKHACK don't waste time trying to restrain yourself from spending, it will not help your sanity to resist this awesome key-set, designed by you  :thumb: .

What does the "full contour" mean? I tried searching in the thread but since those words are in the title literally every reply matched my search. I'm familiar with what SA profile is, but does full contour mean there is something unique about this set?

I'm in! I've been lurking on geekhack for a few weeks trying to decide what keyboard to buy for my first mechanical. I really like the design of this set, so now I need to find and order a keyboard before they arrive...

Any suggestions for a TKL with clear switches? I'm leaning towards the wasd code even though I don't need the LEDs or the KUL once the clears are back in stock. Was also thinking about stealth or blank keycaps, but now that I'll have this set it doesn't really matter...

There are different row profiles, unlike most previous SA buys were everything was row 3. The only other "full contour" set I can think of off the top of my head is Pulse, and of course the upcoming RetroBlight. Full Contour is all the rage!

Too Right :thumb: .

If you haven't used or typed on a Full-Contoured Set before in your life then be prepared to be blown out of your chair.

It's the ONLY profile that is so distinctive and so retro in style yet it allows ultimate comfort when typing.  When I first bought my sets of Camouflage then Pulse I knew this will be the ONLY Signature Plastics profile to buy from now on.
All of their other profiles are so under-developed compared to the meaty goodness of these babies, if these were little parcels of cakes instead of plastic people would jump on these like hardcore sugar addicts  8) .

Full countour SA:

The angle of the prop holding the keys is way too much (you should have your board close to flat in most cases for best ergonomics), but you can see the angles of the keycap tops at least.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

AND if you only us a JD40 exclusively  then buy 2 sets and another JD40 because you always need a backup keyboard.

I haven't considered the JD45 I'll get one of those when all the bugs are worked out...... :o

Full countour SA:

The angle of the prop holding the keys is way too much (you should have your board close to flat in most cases for best ergonomics), but you can see the angles of the keycap tops at least.

According with research on the subject the best ergonomics in a flat single unit keyboard is when it has a negative angle. Tilted backwards, instead of the common practice to tilt it forward.

Doesn't apply to everyone and every setup though.  Ergonomics is a very personal subject, more so than switch preference.  There are some general guide lines though.  I don't believe this to be one of them.
