I have just the one switch, but it definitely clicks when you press it. The jury is still out on whether a linear version exists, and whether that's just a misconception based on keyboards where the clicker has gone wrong, and given their very smooth tactility.
What's confusing though … is that they don't have clickers. There's a flat spring that's held bent, and inverted when the key is pressed. This is also what transfers the force to the switch contacts. I don't know what would have to happen to one of these switches to stop it from clicking — especially if it clicks when released. The click sound and actuation should occur at the exact same instant.
The trouble is that they're sealed shut, so you can't easily open one up to see what's gone wrong with it.
