It depends on what you need cleaning. Because the top half of the keyboard is all one piece, dust doesnt really get very far. I usually just pop off the caps, swap it out with some q-tips, caps on, done.

I use the acrylic cover on mine and slide it under my desk when not in use. My HHKB's never get dirty enough to need alcohol

do not use a blow dryer to dry the keyboard. Deformed my spacebar; luckily matto's spacebar came in.

I keep a dust cover on the board when not in use.  I periodically wipe it down with a diluted windex type solution.

If its not super dirty: Take a slightly damp toothbrush and rub the keys and then a dry cloth to get it super dry

If its dirty: remove caps, put in hot water with soap, rinse under water, put on a dry cloth for a few hours, rub them individually when I place them back on the keyboard

If its super mega mega dirty:

@Reserve:: HHKB (Topre 45g / Mixed PBT) // Das v3 (Mx Brown / Blank PBT)

Take it apart and take off the housing. Take the housing to some hot water and soap.

Takes less time then taking a small q tip and trying to get the small nooks.

When I put it back together I put a small amount of lube on my fingers when I insert the sliders.

It's about the perfect amount of lube needed.

how do you even remove the sliders? do you have to push them out with force..?
they have tiny hooks that keep'em in place and i'm hesitant to try and force them out. i'd hate to damage my topre boards

also, anyone ever used that funny cleaning gel stuff?
because i have a few keyboards that aren't necessarily filthy, but they do have a bit of dust and tiny hairs lying around..
i've tried some vacuuming, but not everything's coming out

I just take a plastic screw driver and pop them off. You will see tiny residue from the sliders, but it doesn't hurt the slider or board.

For boards that are not that dirty, a qtip will work.

If it looked like my first HHKB when I first got it (It was disgusting), then dissembling the case is your best bet.
