You guys think the steel plate would match this case better than the silver? I guess it's kinda a pointless question cause I've been leaning toward winkeyless plate anyway, but just wondering.
The steel plate isn't shiny. There's some production burn marks on the bottom of it too (not major, but I wanted to let you know about them).
Is there a specific look you're going for? The aluminum in grey might be a better choice for you.
Oh, and for SMD LEDs, the pads are not under switches at all--don't worry about special switches. Frosty or clear (Zealio) Gateron is fine. The LEDs used can also be paired with in-switch LEDs (the effect will kind of be lost unless your goal was just a gigantic spotlight on your desk, lol). The caveat with the parallel LEDs is that you have to be weary of voltage drop (try to use the same color or colors which fall into the same voltage drop range). It'll be experimental.

A last note is to get some heat shrink (thin) so that you can mount the indicator LED (I recommend a 2x3x4mm) underneath the plate or at least toward the side of the top of the plate. The indicator LED has independent posts and is configurable (as desired) via the NerDy GUI.
