Regarding the mechmarket flippers: this is the new world. if you ban people from selling for profit on mechmarket, they will just go to ebay or create alternate accounts which eventually will destroy the positive aspects of the mechmarket community we have now. it doesn't matter anymore. the future is (actually it always was even while hype was smaller) supply and demand and if artisan makers don't figure out their sweet spot where they make the most money and produce enough to reach that point, it simply is their fault. Market will only grow bigger.
But this fugu craze doesn't come from nowhere.
With higher production ETF would be selling a minimum of 1 artisan to each person who is interested in artisans. Hell, I would buy nearly everything he made.
Because his products don't only create high desire through high prices and/or rarity. His stuff, is simply the real deal. I'm saying this with confidence after having seen most artisans in real life already.
