PURCHASE HERE

It's finally here after long months of organising, fine-tuning and negotiating!

Q-Series is a profile never reliably available to the community before. Produced for UKKeycaps/MechSupply by Devlin in the UK! Thick, high quality keycaps. This is not a group-buy you're gonna want to miss.

Interesting stuff. Might have to pick up a set to test the profile out :thumb:

First off, thank you very much for making this set available!

That being said, let's start off with some questions for a potential FAQ page.  :p

Regarding the space bar:

How does the texture differ between Devlin and DSA?

Is the space bar ABS or PBT?

Did you consider Signature Plastics G20 series caps for the space bar and why or why not?
[ie: If someone loves G20 would its space bar be a good fit for the Devlin profile?]

What Signature Plastics color code are you using?

Num-Pad & Non-Standard

Did you consider a 1.25 Func or FN key?  I only ask because almost every keyboard has one.

Otherwise congrats on keeping this down to two options!  :p

Based on what they said from the GB page, they use the DSA spacebar, i assume the hight should be similar. The difference i can tell is the finish of the surface and their keys are significant thicker.

It seems the height is not exactly similar. Here you can find some detailed comparison

I know the Q-series is shorter and flatter than DSA caps.
How about K-series and SA? Aside from wall thickness, is there a difference b/w the two profiles?

There we go, thats the kind of keyboard science we're looking for.  ;)

They make those K-Series keys really thick. Definitely some short DSA-like keys. Those stems kinda scare me though. Last thing I want is broken stems. :/

Skidata & Rad-Away Group-Buy Update
Thank you all for making the first Devlin keyset group-buys a success!

Before giving an update on the status of the group-buy I first would like to offer my apologies for the lack of communication over the last 3 weeks, The Christmas and New Year break was a turbulent time for the future of UKKeycaps and MechSupply and the business is now starting to recover.

Unfortunately, due to these internal pressures and external delays (Devlin & Signature Plastics) the estimated shipping date has been delayed by 6 weeks to the 21st of February. This shipping date is an estimate and is not guaranteed (such is the nature of group-buys!) and I offer my apologies for this delay.

Additionally Devlin has let me know of some issues during the manufacturer of the keycaps to the original design, unfortunately after the order was placed. The K-Series Rad-Away Planck keyset will NOT have homing bumps, according to Devlin this is due to a lack of tooling, simply meaning they do not have the mould to create these keys. The keyset will be supplied in full, however the F and J key will not have homing bumps.

Devlin have also informed me that they do not have the moulds for 2.25u and 2.75u keycaps in Q-Series, and instead these keycaps will be produced in QS-Series for the Skidata set. QS-Series is essentially Q-Series but with a slightly profiled bottom edge. Therefore this change will make only a slight visual change to the keyset and no functional change. An image of the two profiles is shown below - the QS key is on the left and in use the raised profiled edge is on the bottom of the keycap. Please note the Q-Series Skidata set WILL have homing bumps.

Taking into account these changes and the delay, if any customer would like a full refund you can reply to this email requesting so. You can also do so via the contact form on the website at anytime. Apologies again for any inconvinience.

Risks of doing a thing for the first time, I guess. Part of the calculation I took in to account when joining the group buy.

I am still looking forward in seeing how this set turns out, quirks and all. :-)

Changing Q-Series to QS-Series profiles is "only a slight visual change" and "no functional change"?

...Are you sure about that?

When I first read about Q profile I was super excited; so much so that I didn't care what color way they went with and was ready to buy multiple sets on day 1.  And then it was revealed it would use a DSA space bar instead and that had me going back and forth.  Just before the GB ended I purchased 1 set.

Now this happens... I mean 1st world problems right?  But people shouldn't shell out over a hundred dollars on something they are not in love with.

HOWEVER to be more positive I do have a suggestion.  Is it too late to add a "Minivan/40% rescue pack"?  The non-standard kit could use a couple of blank enter keys amongst other things.  I am NOT a Minivan/40% layout expert but maybe someone here is and can suggest additional keys.

I don't know how much of a logistical nightmare this would be and who will be footing the bill.  If Devlin dropped the ball maybe they will add them and/or give a discount.

This would at least build a mini board using ALL Q series profile keycaps.

UKKeycaps what do you think?

A planck set or a Ergodox set would also be possible, BUT even if the planck or the Ergodox has some users, it's just a tiny minority. I guess it's even more worse with the minivan.

(Attachment Link)

...Are you sure about that?

That image was included in the email sent to all customers, so it's not like it's a secret.

Devlin informed me of these changes after the order was placed, I am not too thrilled with it either, but people will over-play how much this will effect the aesthetics of the keyset.

I'll say again - if anyone you like a refund do not hesitate to contact via the webpage!

EDIT: In terms of the posts regarding other layouts, it is too late to consider for this group-buy. Future group-buys will support more layouts.

It only effects the shift keys.  The ISO enter is another profile; ANSI enter should still be Q.

Isn't the ANSI enter 2.25u?

You're right. In ANSI both shift keys and the enter key are affected, in ISO only the right shift key.

This is hard. Basically I don't know if it is going to look and/or feel strange with those different profiles on those keys. Hard to find any pictures of those profiles side by side on a board as well.

Surely this being the first keyset in this/these profiles doesn't preclude the existence of an image with them side by side on a keyboard, given that there are in existence images of them separately and an image of them back to back on a table. :D :D

I personally start to think about requesting a refund and not cause I don't want to wait a few more days, but cause I starting to loose confidence about this group buy.

Not a 5th profile, but an as equally upsetting change to one of the keysets :(

I'm aware of lot of customers will want refunds due to this colour change, apologies to all who have been discouraged by the events of this group-buy.

Seem a dramatic color change for Devlin to go ahead with manufacture on, especially as they have produced that dark green before.
