When i was first dating my now wife, she had spent a bit of time stalking my Amazon wishlist. Since i wasn't used to people buying me things I normally just used my wishlist for saving things i wanted - including a pretty nice smaller softbox setup for photography. I had a Christmas card shoot for a friend of a friend coming up and so i ordered it. Come to find out so had she and wrapped it for me for Christmas. When she saw that i had just bought it for myself as well she nearly broke up with me out of frustration.

Lesson learned: Dont buy anything for yourself between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

A couple of years back I recieved one of those fake mustaches you put on a beer bottle from one of my closest friends, being told it was very important to him. I still have it to this day, but it was nearly thrown out by my mother when she came over once, ranting about she didn't want to know where I had had it, and "kids these days with their sexual fantasies". Good times all around.  :))

Not so funny anymore but I gave my wife the gift of having my children. Now instead of buying one gift I gotta buy three.

One year I opened a present to find a forest green towel. My parents had trained me well on the fake excitement I needed to have when opening dull gifts. I yelled with excitement "A GREEN TOWEL, AWWWWWEEESOME!" My grandparents burst into laughter. It was a green bath robe. I had asked for a bath robe because we were poor and I knew we could not afford a trench coat like Neo had in The Matrix.

I couple of years ago, my cousin told me they buried my birthday gift on the ground. She gave me a treasure map on where my 'gift' was. After digging, I found a letter that says my gift is just under my bed.  :)) :)) :))

Two birthday ago, my ex girlfriend invited me to her parents house for a suprise with a big big paper box (like for shipping). I was really excited and during this party all her parents taking a video, but I didnt understand why. Aaaaaaaand damn I found inside the beautiful stump with Miracle Blade III, the perfect knife series! I grew up with the spot in tv, so it was a dream, really really a dream.
But the main present (super expensive) after this "joke", it was a beatiful green(my favorite color) wool sweater...but I prefer the knife more more more and more....so I didnt pay attection about the sweater and the next day I washed with washing machine at high temperature (mistake) and the sweater became really really little.
So I was really really sorry and I kept this sweater hide in my drawer for 1 year. Then we broke up and the sweater is finished in the trash

Don't think I have enough posts to enter, so just came to say that you're cool for doing this.

Edit: ok looks like I have enough :)

So, funny story about giving or receiving a gift...

At the office gift exchange several years ago (white elephant style), we all got to choose an unwrapped gift, or steal someone else's gift. My coworkers at the time brought some really cool things, like a popcorn machine, a nice set of knives, and a coffee maker. I decided to be the oddball, and I brought a pink shake weight (similar to here: http://www.nbc.com/sites/nbcunbc/files/files/images/2014/9/07/140228_2751295_Shake_Weight_DVD_anvver_2.jpg)

Well, one of the managers there thought, given my personality and the size of the box, that I must have brought a bottle of whiskey. He chose my gift, and it was the first gift to be unwrapped. He spent the next half hour trying to convince everyone else how cool the gift is, so that they would take it from him so he could choose another gift. He was unsuccessful and that shakeweight sat in his office for the next few years.

Yes you do!

Three years ago, months before Christmas my GF told me about how her parents are quite religous. As Christmas aproached she kept asking if it was ok that I have to go to Catholic Mass with them on the 24th (on which would be the first time id spent christmas with the in-laws).... Kinda crapping my pants but said yes. Also all of this will be in French (i can't speak french) and I'm not even Catholic...

The day comes and my GF has been trying to teach me how to recieve the wine and bread stuff and how to draw a cross in the air over my chest (does that have a name?). We finish our meal and evreyone gets ready to go into the car (4 family memebers and me).  Pull out of the drive way and her father asks me if I really want to go. Obviously I say yes. In my head thinking FML FML FML.

Drives for aobut 5 minutes and my GFs mother is complaining about something. Her dad starts to laught. WTF is going on? All of the family say 'merry christmas'.... mfw just a parnk bro...

Get back to the house. Pretty relieved. Her dad asks me if I want a scotch. Yep! Sit down with him, "Welcome to the family" feelsgoodman.jpg. I say that's one of the best gifts I ever had  :))

Cheers to you funderburker, hope to see you around for another year  :thumb:

Hah, nice to hear! Yeah, it's probably one of my favourite cartoon mini-series. I didn't have an alias previously so I just thought of some funny cartoon character. Need to re-watch it too during my vacation next week. :)

Happy holidays, Halverson!

Thanks for the giveaway, Funder and congrats on the 1 year mark.

Please do not include me in the giveaway. I don't have a topre so I would not be able to use the keycap, but wanted to share anyways.

My brother and I collected pokemon cards when we were younger, but haven't had any since. With the whole pokemon go thing, we both started playing the games shortly after.

I opened his gift yesterday to see a pack of pokemon cards. It is the reprint series of the original cards we grew up with. It even had Charizard on it which was always my starter.

Coincidentally,  I bought him the same pack, but with a Blastoise, which was his starter. Both got a really good laugh at it considering we both got each other the same thing. I even printed him a card to go along with it that had a picture of Slowpoke on it with a Santa hat and wrote "Happy Halloween." Overall, probably one of my favorite gifts (along w/ my secret santa)this year just due to the laughs we got out of it.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and good luck to all.

Yeah, I think selling something that another member gave you for free is some serious bull****. Especially when it's not a random giveaway, but one to celebrate how great of a community GH can be.

If your cover story is true (questionable), then almost selling something that you promised to another user also gets filed under '****ty' in my book.

Man, notice the ONLY thing I had up for sell is that 1 cap? Because I don't have a topre board. Wasn't trying to be disrespectful etc. Was looking into an HHKB when I entered and ended up getting an MX HHKB on r/mm. Told the guy I would let him know when I got it in and forgot about the whole thing. Literally got on GH after I edited the Reddit post to find the comment I sent him (couldn't remember the name)and saw this.

If you care enough about my "questionable cover story" then check my history on here.. I am sure you have already though ;)

Woah, that was a quick call out! I actually took it down. Told a new member on here I would give it to him a week ago. I do not have a Topre board.

Yeah, I think selling something that another member gave you for free is some serious bull****. Especially when it's not a random giveaway, but one to celebrate how great of a community GH can be.

If your cover story is true (questionable), then almost selling something that you promised to another user also gets filed under '****ty' in my book.

Dude looks like he forgot, **** happens.

I don't have the time to skip through Archdill posts but I knew he didn't have a Topre board when I send the cap to him. Will update this post on this matter a bit later.
