Off Topic / Re: What's Bothering You? (The thread about what is bothering you.)

What the hell is going on, why I keep braking things, or why things brake when i touch them recently?
I never broke anything, from toys in early age, till now. What the hell...
Greed and Covid.
Things have been getting cheaper and cheaper for money reasons  (en****ification) but Covid also caused material shortages and caused/allowed companies to cut corners, then the greedy owners realized they could just keep making things with cheaper parts and keep prices jacked up.

For example GPU cards PSU's are/were failing early but one industry particularly hit hard is cars. Car mechanics are now buying 3 or more parts just to get 1 that works
GM used to sell good replacement suspension parts, they now just put their sticker on a crappy Chinese knock-off and crank the price, the same part everyone paid for OEM parts to avoid. Ford and several mountain bike manufacturers were/are removing features with an asterisk in the marketing that it was/is based on part availability. So you could pay for an upgraded model only to get a lower level spec model with a sticker. You really do not want a covid era vehicle if you expect it to last.

Anything made about mid 2020 when supply lines started to get stretched to 2023 in particularly is suspect in quality but some stuff still had yet to recover and likely may never.

Rumours say they started with dye-subbing the keycaps. :thumb:

Now that I've started using the Sanwa, I do actually have a few gripes about it now. Firstly, Sanwa decided to keep the same default layout as the MTE, so right click is on the thumb cluster instead of your ring finger.
I didn't know that was the standard layout for the MTE. Makes me wonder why do users hold it in such high regard then?
Being in Dubai, trackballs are not common, unlike gaming mice. So most people over here don't even have a clue. The only trackballs I've seen in tech shops are Logitech M570 and Trackman marble FX. My knowledge only comes from watching reviews on Youtube and posts on here.

New Members / Re: Hello, from the US, looking for a keyboard resource!

Hello,

I have two TKL keyboards, one with mx clears the other with topre 55g. I am trying to clean the topre keyboard and have tried canned air as well as a qtip with rubbing alcohol and it doesn't get these like weird white gunks off my keyboard. I have a hard rule to not eat over my keyboard, and I only drink water so the only dirt I really see between my keys ever was dust so... not sure what's up! Will be creating a new thread  https://vlc.onl/ solar smash .

Hope to learn a lot here

Try using a soft toothbrush with isopropyl alcohol or a magic eraser for stubborn residue. Compressed air helps with dust, but deeper cleaning may require removing keycaps.

Flamboyant Bleu Keycap - 2024 Year of the Dragon Floral Theme Series

Product Overview
"Flamboyant Bleu" is the first keycap in Mek's 2024 Year of the Dragon Floral Theme Series. Dominated by deep purple and blue hues, it merges the elegance of flowers with a sense of cool detachment and meticulous design. Unlike previous floral-themed keycaps, Flamboyant Bleu carries deeper emotional weight—it is not just a beautiful mechanical keyboard accessory, but a story of love, loss, and rebirth. Each keycap is designed to convey a story, an emotion, and an inner world that speaks volumes.

The flower language of the Flamboyant Bleu : "Waiting for love in despair". That moment felt like a revelation—and it was then that the idea for this keycap was born.

"Flamboyant Bleu" is not just a keycap; it is a piece of emotional history, a symbol of love, loss, and the relentless pursuit of hope. It is a reflection of a personal journey, but it’s also a universal story of the pain and beauty that comes with love.

Let us wait for love, even in the depths of despair.

Design Concept & Details
Color Tone & Emotional Expression
The main color of "Flamboyant Bleu" is a cold, deep blue-violet. This color symbolizes despair but also has a unique, profound beauty. It conveys a cold, rational emotion, almost as if each part of the heart has been frozen. Yet, beneath this harsh exterior, there's an undeniable allure. This is the essence of the keycap: even in despair, we wait, we hope, we endure.

Font Design: Cold, Lean, and Unapproachable
We chose slender, sans-serif fonts rather than traditional serif ones. This design gives off a “don’t come near me” kind of coldness, providing the keycap with a sense of rigidity and isolation. This is the emotional tone I wanted to express—an expectation of love, but also a barrier, a feeling of being distanced from it.

Heart Shapes & Floral Clusters: Symbolism of Emotional Density
To reflect the Flamboyant Bleu’s cluster-like flower structure, we used heart-shaped patterns. These hearts are densely arranged to mimic the appearance of a flower cluster. Each heart represents a fragment of emotion, interwoven yet waiting for rebirth. The arrangement aims to create a visual intensity that reflects the complexity and depth of the feelings behind this design.

Space Key: Hope Amidst Shattered Despair
The French phrase on the Space key, “L'hiver s'estompe, le printemps émerge l'attente s'éveille en doux bourgeons” (Winter fades, spring emerges, and waiting awakens in gentle buds), is a heartfelt reflection of my personal journey. It represents the hope that follows the darkness, symbolizing that even after the harshest winter, there’s always a spring to come.

Aimer, ce n'est pas se regarder l'un l'autre, c'est regarder ensemble dans la même direction
From the work The Little Prince by French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: "Love is not about gazing at each other, but about looking together in the same direction."

Passion →  Dépendance →  Complicité  →  Séparation
