Keyboards / Re: Topre owner, do you regret your choice on weight?
« Last post by Riverman on Mon, 21 May 2018, 15:25:23 »
I currently have a uniform 45G Type Heaven, and I greatly prefer it to the variable weight Realforces I had before.  I thought the outer keys were far too mushy and lacked the "thock" sound.  If I could find a set of Realforce PBT keycaps to put on my Type Heaven, I think it would be perfect.  After using MX brown keyboards for so long, I wouldn't want a Topre with heavier domes than 45G, either.

Is the spacebar wire above or below the switch? I think the TX87 is above, but other PCBs have it above.  Will that affect what plates are compatible?

Yeah, shinz0's correct. Cmadrid won't necessarily be PMing on Geekhack. He's out there on reddit as well, so he might prey on people looking for Clacks.

Be careful. Here are all of his (pretty bad) pictures that I was able to squeeze out of him:

If there's one thing I know about golf - it's that the more you spend on equipment the better you are.  :))

In all seriousness there's a plateau you hit once you have a decent set (try sets and try to get fitted for staff flex), after that practice practice practice pain pain pain.

I know jack about audio setups but if it sounds crappy/weak I would think it would be something to do with the amplifier (since you're using a receiver the amp is built in).

What is the most useful piece of tech you have purchased lately (or ever)?

  • An adjustable sit/stand desk, something like Varidesk but made by a local company (Stell). It's not ideal and maybe I would have preferred an arm-based setup to save space, but it works well enough. I did move between a standing and sitting setup before (for over 5 years), but it was annoying at time (especially if you need to sync data and software configuration).
  • Speakers. Seriously. I used pretty much only headphones for ~10 years and now it's so feeing to be able to walk around, sit and do stuff on the floor on the opposite side of the room etc.

When I change the space to 19.05mm between the individual switches they aren't aligned properly anymore.
I believe it's a sofware limitation. Try putting them in a column then select all of them and rotate them to your liking.
I can only rotate a group by 90 degrees.

It's not elegant, but you might be able to go into settings and change the rotation amount globally to whatever you need for the group. As far as I know KiCAD doesn't allow arbitrary rotation of a group of footprints. Google might know better though.
