On the USB C receptacle that you've chosen, the GND pins are pin 1 and pin 12.  On the ATMega32U4, pins 15, 23, 35, and 43 are GND.  Your circuit shows pin 15 connected to GND.  More than likely, the symbol picked for the MCU has pins 23, 35, and 43 all sitting on top of pin 15, and as such, they are likely all connected to GND.  VCC and +5, in most circuits like this, are the same thing.  The MCU, the ATMega32U4, can operate at +5V, so you could just pick either +5V or VCC, and stick with that.  It might make the circuit a little easier to understand.  I'd also recommend running the trace between pin 2 and 11 underneath the USB C receptacle, On the same side as you have the trace running between the two DP pins, as it removes vias, as well as keeps it from running over top the D+ and D- lines from the receptacle to the MCU.  That last bit might not be a big thing at the speeds that this chip and a USB keyboard communicates with the computer, but it is recommended USB design.

New Members / The GK61 has me coming back here
« Last post by Goggles2114 on Fri, 22 September 2023, 21:47:59 »
Hi again.

no grand projects or plans. Just a case where I've finally gotten my mitts on a GK61 (My first 60%,) and a few other things to make it just a little nicer, and wanting a place that isn't reddit to hang my hat while I squint and stumble.

I still have many... MNY ideas. I've just slowly realized how dumb it is t otalk a huge game when there are no resources to back that ambition.

Instead. I'm going to be quite happy when I get my cute little keyboard modded and I'm going to see if I can make a wooden case to replace the plastic one that it came with (and if that isn't in the cards there are some lovely designs I'd seen on etsy.)

All of a sudden ublock isn't blocking all the youtube ads, ne1 else seeing this?

I remember getting an ad for youtube while on ublock origin once, thought it was a glitch but apparently youtube has been trying to deal with ad-blockers for a while.

Been getting a lot more twitch ads with adblock though, to the point where I use my phone cause there are less ads somehow.

Ergonomics / Re: Cherry mx red feels heavy
« Last post by Rhienfo on Fri, 22 September 2023, 19:35:11 »
Key switches of the same type should not vary more than a couple g. If they are rated at 45g, they could be between 42g and 48g at most.

Cherry variance is +-20g so it could be a maximum of 80g but it wouldn't affect every switch that much (and would rarely go to that weight), I believe that it could be an error on cherries part with the springs as people have said.

If you want to keep using the board you have, maybe desoldering and replacing the springs with an aftermarket option like tx would work (You can lube the switches if you are doing that as well, but that's not necessary, just if you are going to desolder you might as well) then solder it back, or you could just buy another board with lighter springs.

The desoldering option may not be good because they might not use leaded solder, which is much harder to desolder, so a desoldering gun will be much preferable if you want to minimize risk of damage of the pcb. So you might be better off just buying a new keyboard, or getting someone else to desolder than resolder for you.

yeah the switches look normal, but as long as the switches wear overtime i wouldn'tmind im just not sure if it would get lighter overtime or not from use
