DNS is borked
« on: Fri, 16 August 2013, 14:18:23 »
The only way to get here right now is through the IP of 65.111.241.205. If you try to come here by geekhack.org it just gives you this message:

Actually it worked great for me.  Google indexed the post which let me see the IP and now I'm here.  Thanks OP.

Looks like it periodically doesn't work for very short periods of time (trying to view different topics, sometimes they load fine, and sometimes the DNS error pops up for a bit).

Hey Ed, how about we don't necessarily have any guaranteed control over DNS. I'm just giving you a hard time, calm down. 8)

EDIT: It should be fixed for most now.

That's probably has something to do with whichever DNS server that person is using, hence it's fixed for most.

our dns registrar temporarily propogated a bogus record several times today. our sentinels around the world caught multiple dns outages due to this bogus record. my pet theory is that it was an attempted dns poisoning attack, but it could also have been plain old incompetence.

There was 5mins of Google downtime, could that have anything to do with it?

Although Google DNS was working unlike many others.

One more fix please:

www.geekhack.org still seems to be pointing to the wrong place. It's a CNAME to an amazon machine at 50.16.65.63.

Meanwhile geekhack.org is working for me. 65.111.241.205 looks good. I'm using Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8) and perhaps something is cached.

Digging around:
