Details

The keyset will be in the KAT profile by Keyreative. KAT keycaps are PBT plastic, sculpted for comfort and, feature sharp, reverse dyesub legends. The KAT Space Cadet colors will be color matched to an original Space Cadet keyboard.

The original concept of this set was to create a 40s only kit that would serve our weird-ass idea of a usable keyboard, but we quickly saw the opportunity to bring the amazing Space Cadet concept to a wider audience. Our kits are inspired by the KAT sets that have come before it, emphasizing a wide gamut of coverage, something Keyreative's KAT profile provides at an affordable price. We hope that you find exactly what you need in our kitting and can put together the best coverage you've ever had in a keyset in the lowest possible cost.

Suggestion: the R3 BackSpace kinda looks out of place because the legend is too long, would you consider changing to "BSpace" or just "BS" like other sets?

I'm certainly interested in this set, but I'm still figuring out what kind of profile I actually enjoy typing on. I've gone from OEM to DSA to Cherry, and Cherry has very clearly been the best so far. I type faster, more accurately, and it just feels and sounds great. DSA is... weird. I get more inaccuracy, but I enjoy the texture and feel a lot. I've also tried some SA on meetups, and for those short sessions I've very much enjoyed typing on SA. The question is how close KAT will be to DSA, as opposed to SA, in terms of how it feels to type on for longer periods.

Anyone who has used KAT for long periods and can give an overview of how it felt going from Cherry or SA profiles?

KAT is like SA if it was OEM height, less sculpted, less scooped, and made of silky smooth thick PBT. So not much like SA

It's hard to compare to Cherry because Cherry is sculpted very differently, and KAT is spherical whereas Cherry is cylindrical. Cherry is also lower profile.

It's by far my favourite profile to type on, and the surface texture is something no other keycaps have topped for me. The sound is also excellent, owing to being 1.65mm(!) thick PBT.

You need a mod kit and an alpha kit so its $29 plus $59 for a 60%.

I really like the look of this!

As someone who’s only ever really used cherry profile, how are these to type on in comparison? Do they take some getting used to? Do they feel better/worse?

I know that abs can be more thocky but is the pbt on these still nice and thick?

KAT is really a pleasure to type on, very thocky and resonant. A lot like SA but more chonk I guess. All profiles take some time to get used to, and it is more like SA than Cherry as the profile is spherical rather than planar like cherry. There's a lot of videos on Youtube that you can use to judge the sound profile though!

Really useful, thanks! I’m very tempted to put this set together with the new Space65:CyberVoyager in black & gold but it’s tough without seeing them both in person!
