Consider the price it sounds like the mod should include the base + mod. 17 key I guess it's for full size keyboard?

Yo - I don't want to tell you how to run things...but I have some suggestions you can take or ignore.
You may want to show all the price breaks and the quantities needed to achieve them.
You may want to list counts of who / how many are ordered.
You may want to be upfront on what the shipping costs are
You may want to put a little more detail around exactly what keys are included in each named set.

If I am doing the math properly -- and I might certainly be getting it wrong -- the best price for a 104-key set as of 11/22/12 is $140. I'm not in for that for 2-shot with standard SP fonts, and others may feel the same way.
And as long as we see that price, it would be dishonourable to sign up for a GB thinking we can always cancel. So, speaking at least for myself, I have not signed up. I may be alone in thinking like this, but if not, there could possibly be multiple people (scores?) who would sign up at a lower price point? Chicken and egg.
So, if there is a way for you to add an "I'm in at 50 sets" option, you might discover enough demand to, well, push it to 50 sets.
Or not. I don't know, and I might be alone. But I bet I am not.

Honestly, I would rather you sign up and when I come around in January with an invoice, if the payment isn't acceptable, you cancel at that point. If enough people are uncomfortable with the price at that point, I'd extend the sign up date another 1-3 months and start cross posting in DT.

Not in any compatibility kit at all (and no way SP is going to make a mold for it).no and even if, it would be to expensive ^^ I'll still get the base kit and the mods for my Keycool and use it on that keyboard :D I'll not use my keycool anymore I guess xD (except when my GF is there and complains about the noise of blue switches :s -_-)
I'd be interested in at least a RoW base set and a set of WoR mods although it depends partly on how much bonus I get (and a lot on how expensive Christmas is!) - would you prefer that I fill in the form and then possibly pull out later or wait to know if I'll have the funds?

They can make any colors they have on their color ring. And I mean the full color ring, not just the ones in that small picture on their website.

Note Regarding Compatibility: If anyone is buying WoR modifiers to use with an existing RA (or RA2.0) set, they will want standard SP (WYSE) legends, and not Cherry font legends. The inverse is also true. If you have WoR modifiers you bought from SP, you wouldn't want the Klaxon base kit to use Cherry font legends, as it would look funky with your WYSE font legend modifiers.

no way you can get the right colour eyedroping a picture
you need to check with GMK to get either pantone colour code or even CMYK or RGB code
Also we had the same issue on the toxic set, what you see on screen can be pretty far from the final result
flat colours (displayed on mock-ups) will always look kind of dimmed compared to real colours (because of reflections, lighting etc...)

I know it's up in the air as to who is going to do the work for this, but I had a question related to if we end up at SP.
I bought the RA 2 set, and one detail that I thought didn't look quite right (at least on my set) was the relative size of the legends on one of the keys compared to the rest.
Specifically, the ":;" key seemed noticeably "less bold" than the "Single-Double Quote" key immediately to it's right. The keys like "[]\,.?" all seem to be a closer match to the "boldness" of the Double Quote. By comparison I thought the ":" key looked a bit anemic.
See the attached pic. (The difference is seen best/looks more like the real thing when viewed at full size).
Would anyone know if this is how the new run would be expected to look? (I'm not sure if this was just variation in my set or if they all looked like this).

Once we get to order time, I'm going to poll all ISO wanters to get a popular color, as I don't think we'll get enough people to want 10 of both options sadly.

But on the other hand, for those who just want the base + modifiers the price is great. $57 atm. With the toxic base kit, you are forced to buy keys which you may not need or want.
RoW mods are still so expensive. The rest of the prices are what I would consider reasonable.
Probably, going to order a 87-key 2-tone set, but not to sure yet. I would prefer this through SP because I like their profile and we could have them much sooner.

I ordered WoR Base and RoW Modifier. I'm assuming that since these are double shot that these are ABS? I'm only asking because I keep hearing rumblings of double shot PBT, also through SP.These will be ABS almost certainly. I plan on verifying with SP before I place the order as to DS PBT as a possibility and we're still waiting to see what GMK will charge and at what kind of MOQ for thick cherry abs.

I honestly have no clue. This is the third GB that I've involved myself in and neither of the others are manufactured and complete either.
From SPs order page, it states a 4-6 week manufacturing time.

So as I'm still fairly new here, I'm not sure what size the space bar is. Will it fit my Leopold 500R/Race?
Maybe this has been answered, but if this goes through GMK, will it come with a space-bar? And if it does, will this fit a 'normal' Filco/etc.?
The reason I ask is that the few Cherry space bars I've seen from G81-8000/G80-8116, etc. all needed modification of one sort or another to work on a Filco (or Leopold, etc.) layout.
In my case, I can make the modifications if I at least have a space-bar to modify... If it doesn't come with one, then there's the question of where to get a matching color space-bar to use with the set.
No aftermarket spacebar fits the Leopold FC500R series. The SP "Universal" spacebar with 6 stems will fit a Leopold, but the FC200R only.So besides the FC200R what other keyboards will the SP Universal spacebar fit?

Just in case it's helpful, the RA 2 Red on Gray modifiers I got are "RBV on GAL" (at least according to my notes). I think they look a little Beige/Tan to my eyes.

I took a set of RA Red on White and a set of Imsto Red on Gray, and split them between two keyboards and both combinations are really nice.

Standard full touch caps lock will be center stemmed. Tsangan kit stepped caps lock is off center. We do have a mold for center stemmed stepped caps lock, but I don't think that's included with this GB, unless there is demand for it.

25+36+32+27+20=$140 is quite a large sum. That cost would have been fine like 2 month ago. Now I got my hopes up for PBT or Cherry and now I am subconsciously comparing everything to that.

Lets make them a little cheaper please.Because everyone already has tons of Cherry keys in white on black, or black on white/beige, and a couple more rare sets like dolch, and skidata "orange dolch". The GMK company is using the same equipment used to make the previous sets. The consensus is that Cherry "GMK" thick ABS doubleshots are higher quality than thin ABS doubleshots from Signature Plastics.

That metal stick is a costar stabilizer. All you do is take out those plastic inserts from those keys and stick them into the respective RA keys. So yes, you can use RA on your CM Storm Quickfire Rapid.

I think you should have SP front print the "SysRq" and "Break" legends on the Print Screen and Pause keys. They look so much better with those on there, and it adds hardly anything to the cost, especially at the tiers we are at.
I think those few that want RoG mods want a darker grey than in RA 2.0, so GA would be the better option.

For those that have not ordered, but want to, now is the time. Because of the success that's happened this last month, I think I'm going to push back the time line one month (Feb 2) instead of collecting money and separate orders at the same time. A significant reason for that is that we're quite close to a number of kits hitting a new tier and I don't want to have to be worrying with refunds.
So the windows keys will be blank? Without any legends ? Can you ask them about make windows legends for windows keys ?

Well, I wonder that when this group buy will end in Feb 3, so how long will the production complete and when will I can receive the keycaps ?
once I place the order, sp claims a 6 week turn around. hopefully, I'll have everything shipped within two weeks after that.

Bring down the price. You can get 2 full sets of everything for less than 150 total!
I think everyone that has placed an order should be asked if they are interested in RoG mods, and informed they will be the nice GA color, and not the poopy beige of original "grey" red alert mods. Maybe even include the example RDD on GA image.
Could also be people like me riding the fence to see if the price comes down. If almost everyone is watching for the price drop and not actually ordering then the price will just never get where we want it.

I'm truly apology about this, but one of my keyboard has died recently. So I want to reduce stuff in my order. My order was RoW (base + mod) and WoR (base + mod). Now I want to change my order to RoW ( base ) and WoR ( mod). So I will cancel RoW (mod) and WoR (base) in my current order and I still go with RoW (base) and WoR (mod). Thanks

SP stands for a company called Signature Plastic. WFK, RDD, RA and OK are the codes for the colors used, as per post on first page..
Red - RDD
White - WFK
Gray - GA
RoW - Red on White
WoR - White on Red
RoG - Red on Gray

Well now we wait for the GB to close. Once it's closed he'll send out invoices, which we will promptly pay for. Then we simply wait for him to receive the product, which he will turn around and ship to us. Basically, you just gotta wait at this point.

Those RoG samples look awesome and anyone that doesn't get one will be sorry. I guess I could place a large order and sell to the poor unfortunate souls that don't order it in the group buy.;
If there is a chance to start the separate group buy maybe add an accent stripe as a purchase option. I want "~`" to "PgUp" to be red with everything else white. Would be nice to not have to buy the WoR base and mods just to get 17 keys.

There has been some confusion with this page - people have been using it to price other items that were not listed and using it as a gauge for different custom sets, so we are re-evaluating what was posted. We don't have a time frame on when it will be back up, but we will still gladly take orders in relation to the page and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. this might've been covered earlier in the thread but is the red in this set the exact same as the one in the ra2.0 set, or a bit different?
It's technically different, but it is very, very close. Most everyone on this site probably would not be able to tell the difference.

I've checked on TN and calibrated IPS and PVA. If that first picture is correct then the red is still too red for me.
These caps are going to be used for the workplace keyboard so I need them to be somewhat neutral colors.

Not exactly Cherry profile, but close. The biggest difference is the bottom two rows which are much more sharply angled than Cherry keys.

I believe the above is incorrect.
The 6 key cluster above the arrows would be in the mod set and hence will be WoR and not RoW as in the picture.

Interesting. I think gmk would produce better quality caps (thick abs) and also with the cherry font it makes it much more appealing. However since following this thread the prices have been looking amazing! There are currently 322 base sets being ordered. Does the moq of 400 count include the different options? like WOR and ROW? or is it like a mix of ROW with WOR modifiers? and does the price include tsangan/iso/numpad?
TJ, I think you're running the biggest GB in GH history. R4 notwithstanding, as 7bit primarily operates on DT, and it stalled and started for over a year now. Probably better not to change manufacturers for the 1st time with such an immense buy.

The total to get 10 sets of keys is $700 (10x$70), which we would then be about ($55x10=$550) $145 short and that needs to be made up some where. That somewhere will be a dollar subsidy to everyone that ordered as I have at least 145 people ordering sets. There are a couple people that have mentioned that if we hit the tier for 50 ($30 each or $1500), they would buy as well. $26 will be for however many sets I can stuff in a small flat rate box at this time. This has been my stand by price simply because it was easy for me to calculate that price through USPS.com at the time I created the OP. At that time, I was expecting this to be a mildly popular thing where about 50 people signed up and no one would order more than a 104key set. At this point, with the price raising and a couple big overseas orders, that price is merely a placeholder depending on how many sets are ordered by the individual. Also, I'm looking into different options and pricing for those that can't justify/are ok with slower shipping internationally. For example, USPS.com now lets me see and order online for first class and it is at the original price of $18. I think, considering that international buyers are the minority of my buyers, I'll personally verify with each what specific shipping option (fast or cheap) they would pay for at the time of invoicing. For now, I'll leave the OP at $26 though.

The funny thing about the possible subsidy on RoG base kits is that more people now want to buy them, because they're guaranteed to not cost a lot and it drives that subsidy lower each time. C'mon 50 people, we're halfway there.

Quick question I haven't read the whole thread... The gray is NOT the same as the gray used in RA, right? Seems like the RoW and WoR are almost an exact match, though.

Unrelated question about the GeekHack keys: Are we choosing the individual colors we get in our set, or are they organized by color (IE one set might have 3 RoGs, 3 WoRs, or 3 RoWs), or is there one of each color per pack (IE 1 RoG, 1 WoR, and 1 RoW per set).
As far as I know it'll be 3 different colours (1 RoG, 1 RoW & 1 WoR) each

Either way, I think all the prices are beyond reasonable currently. Like someone said, $45 for a full set is a steal :) can't believe more shops/resellers aren't investing, because these sets could easily go for $100+ or the equivalent in classifieds.

This buy already killed RA and RA2 prices and with this many buying these kits, it will be a long time, if ever, before it's really worth much.
You a lot of people who have it, some of which will want/need to sell, plus RA and RA2 owners to compete with. If there was ever a set of keys NOT worth trying to resell for profit, this is probably it.

Also, if using 7bit's modifiers don't add cost, should I use them instead of standard ones?

I personally think you should add a couple dollars to everyone's order to compensate yourself for all the trouble. Call it the "handling" in shipping and handling. Alternatively, if people are opposed to this for some odd reason, you could always add a voluntary donation to the billing.SP will collate the sets for $.05 a key so a base and modifer set would be roughly $4.35 extra so that TJ doesn't have to go crazy sorting all these sets. I'm going to do that with the Toxic set except on the smaller kits like winkeyless (modified tsangan) and vendor set.

I don't know if everyone here has thanked you enough for all the effort you've put into this GB. I know you have to monitor this thing day in and day out, constantly updating peoples orders and such. This all takes precious time.

Some of the other ones look neat like insert, delete, etc. However I think all the others change the set too much potentially. I wouldn't object, but others may want a more traditional keyboard, and changing so many legends this late in the game might be bad. Forgive me if I've missed an update on this but did you manage to establish from SP what we can do regarding the ISO set? If we can pick our own colour ill need another so I can do RoG, or was everyone with an iso order chipping in a bit so everyone gets all the colours? I'd be ok with this.

A tsangan kit shouldn't affect shipping at all unless you were already at the cusp of not having a box close, but even if it did, obviously I would work with you.
From there, while I like the 7bit look personally, I understand there are people getting these to match pieces of RA2.0 or that don't like it at all and again, even if 60% of the people want that, that won't guarantee it happening for two reasons:
1. I think more of the people that don't want it will simply not order, and that would very certainly lead to number 2...
2. I won't do it if it changes the price at all.
Also, and this seems to be proven with some of the recent responses here, I truly think that more (I would risk even saying everyone if not expecting a couple people trying to prove me wrong) people that would like to see 7bit are expressing a preference, and not a requirement.
I'm working on invoicing the ~80 people that I have info for right now. That leaves ~120 orderers needing to get back to me/fill out the form in the OP.
Additionally, I've kept the original link to the results of ordering up and those that keep track will notice it slowly fill up with a notation of ic. That's to indicate that an invoice has been created for that order. From there, expect an is for invoice sent and then p for paid.

I didn't mean to come across too serious about the 7bit mods, cause I see this GB as one driven by the desires of the community, and with that, it's totally clear to me that whatever the majority decides, I will be okay with that. I just wanted to give a reason for my opinion and to express that I don't neccessarily dislike 7bit legends. So no hard feelings on this question from my side.
Concerning shipping, I think I'm on the edge to the larger box already having 3 basekits, 2 modkits, one 17key-kit and 2x GH-keys on my order sheet already, but I might be wrong though (maybe someone experienced on packaging can confirm?). But then, maybe sending one kit via an additional bubble mailer would work out, too.....
Anyway, it feels good that you would try to work things out, TJ. Another nice move by you, I really appreciate it.
Also, I'm just putting this here to remind TJ about front printing the "SysRq" and "Break" legends. Makes the set look really classy, and shouldn't add more than a few cents per set.
The mods (shifts, enter, caps lock, tab, and backspace) would all be either standard legends with text, or 7bit symbols. There won't be a choice of which you want. We will all get either one type or the other. That's why the poll is important, it will decide the fate of the entire group buy.
I can understand the annoyance at the confusion over the mods - the buy was run all along with the 'standard' mods being what people were signing up for. I worry that if the 'new' mods go ahead that people will drop out and drive up the price for everyone... I know that TJ said he won't let that happen but it may be too late if people start dropping out preemptively...

Keep in mind that for o/sea buyer like myself, buying around 2 bases/2mods/2tsangans will pretty much pack a small flat rate which is $26. I guess we are limited to what we can buy that still remains reasonably affordable.
Its good that some vendors are getting onboard with these kits, gives the latecomers a chance to get some without the wait!

What if I said my order was just temporary, contingent on getting the 7bit mods? That I'll just drop my whole order if there are no 7bit mods. Wouldn't that sound like bullying the organizer to you? I just find it hard to believe that someone would be so inflexible, based only upon whether a few modifiers have text on them or not. Most people prefer the clean look of the symbol legends, as evidenced by the poll results. Not sure what the issue is; something about compatibility with other sets or something?

The point is that everyone who 'bought in' previously agreed to what was being specified. They had said 'Yes' to the plan at the time
If what is being offered is changed, it's perfectly reasonable to expect that not everyone is going to be happy with the change.
I mean, what if they decided to change the modifiers to be 'Blue diamonds, green clovers, and purple horseshoes' because they thought a 'Lucky Charms' motif was a better plan? (And I'm not saying if that would be a good or bad idea :) )

TJ, I have a suggestion, if you're up to it. Make another GB thread with only the mods with the 7bit legends. Meaning only the Backspace, Tab, Caps Lock, Enter, and include all of the Shift sizes (2.75, 2.25, 1.75, 1.25). Colors RoW, WoR, and RoG. That way you shouldn't lose any mod orders from this GB, since one would still need bottom row mods from this GB to make a complete set.
Those of us that really want the 7bit symbols can order those separately. And the people who hate them won't have to complain about you changing things at the last minute, even though you said you would look into doing those legends way back on November 29th.
Run that GB for a month, and see if it generates enough interest for a MOQ or even makes sense as far as costs. If so, people could choose to wait for those to have their Klaxon sets shipped, if they wish, to save on shipping costs.

Yep. Colors are RDD for red (almost indistinguishable from RBV, and a better formulation), WFK for white, and GA for grey. :)
White legend on Red base only. I don't know if TJ ever heard back from Melissa on the cost of including the other colors for ISO.

Yeah, I think in the end TJ will stick with WoR as the only ISO option. Even if you only ordered RoW base and mods, it will still look good. Having all keys of one color, with one or two as a contrast, looks really good to most people.

Supposedly when you run color combinations of the same thing at Signature Plastics if it is the same colors just reversed they can fall into the same pricing tier. lets just say you had 25 RoW and 25 WoR, you would actually hit the 50 tier price point instead of two 20 tier price points. This would save $5 per iso set for those two colors.
You do have to double check with Melissa though since this could bring down the cost of everything WoR and RoW and it may not apply to full sets but just solo keys, or smaller sets of keys.
I've never heard of that happening. Do you have an example of where that happened? danielucf... I'm almost certain that isn't the case. Larger sets are quoted independently like you say, but for smaller sets when going by the price sheet, color breaks the MOQ. I've recently confirmed this with her as well, and even followed up twice just to make double-sure... as it would certainly change group buys in a big way. It would look fine except that a WoR number 2 key would look strange with a RoW base set, the other keys not so much. If you can give me a quote on the potential costs for my order (1 x RoW base kit, 1 x WoR modifiers, ISO kit), I can weigh up my options and let you know from there (Not necessarily an 'official' invoice, just a ballpark figure.

I don't mind paying for all ISO three sets. I want RoW to match the rest of my keys. And as it looks like WoR was the more popular I was going to end up with a miss match (might've looked cool though)! I will buy all three and then someone can buy the other two sets from me ;P

The link refers to the time when there were 20x ppl keen at the 50sets price (which works out well enough for $3+ each), looking at the OP now, it says 30x, have there been more interest in the RoG bases? and 10x more interested parties would impact on the additional costs each person bares?

Is this a for-profit GB? How are these being shipped? High-end shipping for one keyset would be USPS small priority box, which is $5.35... Bubble mailers even cheaper.

To get 30 orders, I need $1350, as you say. Since price was capped at $30/set, that means those 30 people would have only given me $900. That leaves a balance due of $450 spread across ~150 orders. I had a lot of people ask me to remove their orders on top of the 20someodd that were deleted today.

Dropping WoR would have less effect on the group, but more importantly (for you at least), you would have a much easier time reselling RoG or buying RoW later, should you decide to do either.

Yeah, I just wanted you to know what you're getting with the RoG base set. Ragnorock's RA 2.0 mods were GAL (I just looked it up), which isn't even close to GA. GA is quite a few shades darker than GAL.
Edit: Oh, ok. That makes more sense. The RoW set should look almost identical to Rag's RoW.
Hopefully, it will look a bit better as the red will be more consistent.

To be fair, there have been avoidable set backs (I.E. - not having paypal billing emails until after the closing date and extending the buy a full month (supposed to end Jan 2nd, not Feb 2nd)). Other than that, when I started this process back in November, the common GB time frame for full sets seemed to be 4 - 6 months.How many more payments left?

I just read their TOS, and stripe.com is US-only for sellers, not buyers. They have a different set of rules and regulations, and mention "aggregation" as prohibited in several places. We'll see.
I think that what PayPal wants is for an entity to put up the entire GB cost, then sell and ship the items once they are ready.

If they only hold it for 2-3 months waiting for the items to ship then it will only be interest for a couple months and shouldn't be too bad. We can all still help out with it once you know the numbers. I still don't understand why PayPal does some of the things it does.

Dan, I was looking at a pic of your MX Mini earlier today. Where do those keyboards come from? Was it a GB? If so, it was before my time here I guess. I am loving that keyboard layout though. It's small but with very few compromises.It was a Korean group buy at some point, I purchased mine from leesofi. The LZMX and LZMXSE are essentially MX Minis in a fancier case from my understanding. I love this layout since it can have almost everything a TKL has with only a couple keys on a function layter. I like the F keys being above the number row, makes things nice and easy for Starcraft 2. I might try and trade an LZGH for an LZMXSE I like this layout so much.

tj, try stamps.com for your next group buy perhaps? You can do a batch order all at once, and it prints one big scan code for the post office to scan when you dump them off. It makes life MUCH easier. (Plus, you can buy insurance via stamps.com even for international stuff that isn't offered via USPS if you want.) They aren't perfect, but great for this kind of thing.

For customs, it had me print on plain 8.5"x11" paper, and attach it using the 2976-E envelope (available for free from USPS.com).

I have a decent b/w laser printer already, it's just that if I need a cartridge immediately (kinda like I did earlier as I just bought one), it hurts.I have access to HP P1006's for $20 if you want them. I can't get the toners though, we sold out of those.

Unfortunately I'm seeing some 'bleed-through' on my White-On Red modifiers :(. It looks like the White plastic underneath is showing though the red resulting in color variations.
Is this how they all are, or am I just 'lucky'? I got this the last time I ordered the RA modifiers (from the prior buy), and I was hoping SP had fixed their problems with this...
I've attached a picture below of one of the worse ones I have (the long right shift).

Rats! I also noticed that I had a bit of a different color variation on some of the red keys as well.
At first I thought they were cracked, but it might just be some darker color streaking. The 'side' pictures show it best, and it continues onto the face of the key (although it doesn't show as much except at some angles, I circled it on one of them even though it's hard to see in the picture).
The red keys seem to be hard for them to get right for some reason. At least they aren't all that bad.

I assume i'm "lucky" enough to be stuck in customs. Hasn't been updated on the tracker since 16/4/13 since it was in Chicago, IL((Sort Facility)) unless they just handed it off to the EU courier without updating.

The only tiny issue I have is that the ISO '2" key appears to be the wrong profile which is a little disappointing, that and ISO only came in one colour, despite the invoice saying "ISO orders include all three colors".
