Any updates on this?

Looks like The Key Company has it listed for May... Let's see what happens!

https://thekey.company/collections/coming-soon/products/sanctuary-rebirth-pbt

Is it weird that we haven't seen the sample yet but they already listed it on their website?

Yes, very. I didn't believe it when someone told me about the listing lol
Really hope we can get a sample soon, I have seen some odd ones floating around like this one but otherwise nothing.
That's .... not red  :-[

To be fair, the quality of the photo isn't that good. Hopefully we'll get some photos with better lighting.

I am not in a rush - I really have no extra money right now.

But I hope it can be done right, and the red be like GMK Demonic's red (i.e RO2).

When's the next release of Diable update by the way? Blizzard has some recent announcement, didn't they?

Wishlist: 1) hotswap boards for MX and for Alps; 2) Alps64; 3) Universal Teensy convertor; 3) Quack & Split Planck; 4) Solid cases like TX
More
Wishful-list: 1) HASU BT battery lasts a year; 2) ABS Shine-proof/PBT DoubleShot spherical; 3) We order from keyboard-layout-editor.com; 4) Endgame
IBM M13 black
IBM SpaceSaver II
IBM KPD8923 Trackpoint

I don't think thats real. I can't see a company producing a single full keyset as a sample. Most likely that was the original buy from like what 2013? that someone threw a logo on and posted for karma or what ever.

Just stumbled into this thread. Wow, PBT? Iím in.

But, looking at this render: The 0 (zero) looks so out of place. Did nobody consider using the Omega Ω sign for that?

Roman numerals donít have zero anyway, why not go with something a bit cooler and still fits the theme?

It does go with the theme, it's the button that closes out menus in Diablo 2.
EDIT: Realized you might be talking about 0 and not the esc key whoops. Still, in this image you can see that's what the 0 looks like in the game.

Yeah i was referring to the number row. The zero looks rather jarring when put next to the other Roman numeral keys.

I always thought it fit in nicely but honestly, I played Diablo a LOT. I might just be use to seeing the 0 that way.

GB very soon, but they changed the base kit because the new factory can't cater ergodox and 40s. sigh.
we're very annoyed as well  (as Jebbra is one of those 40s user as well) but we can't do anything about it.

fortunately it's TKC (not me) who's organizing this GB, so i hope they have a better communication than me!

It's from the same factory of the sets, such as Matcha set in the following GB:
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=99233.0

I hope they can have reasonable and competitive pricing like the Matcha set ($60-$90 whole set).
A few things that concerns me:

- TKC first reverse-dyesub GB is not yet completed. We have yet to see the quality of the reverse-dyesub and if how bad is the common issue of warping long PBT keys such as spacebar and long shifts. Recent ePBT GBs have shrinkage in some spacebars leading reduced distance between stab insert points - not fixible like warping, and leading to forever-rattle-ish spacebars despite correctly lubed. Really want to read a few reviews on caps of this factory first.

- There is no sample of correct red color yet, and the one in pictures was pinkish red. It's a total deal breaker if they don't get the colors right.

- To what extend the reduction in its support of other layout is going to happen...

I have read this exact reply of TKC on /r/MK
And I want to believe it more fully; yet having seen so many GB, my confidence is not full about that.

I will believe it more when they show us the photos of at plastic of the matching intended color, at least in raw granular form for use in injection molding machine.

Deceased support for Colemak... I'm out

These are two of the most critical things for me. As someone who doesn't primarily use Qwerty, I'm basically done purchasing any keysets which don't offer support for alternate layouts. Same with Ergo/Ortho kits - not sure why in 2019 people are still investing in row-staggered designs, but I will not be one of them.

Post like this are frustrating.. I am a niche in a niche hobby. I am upset cause the worlds not catering to me. I hardly ever see people with topre board's complain that a set isn't produced in topre. I personally prefer Topre to MX but use MX also because I like keysets. Bottom line to be blunt adapt move on or leave the hobby.

Imagine being this invested into the ethos of proper typing and vehemently making a stand for what's "right" while being upset over your legends not being right because you can't touch type.

Or do you just want "proper legends" so you can continue to show off your colemak caps and pretend to be better than everyone else that uses an outdated, ridiculous method like staggered qwerty?

Yes, this. Unironically. For me it's actually Dvorak, but it's all the same for most folks reading. FWIW I type fine on inexpensive blanks, because that's how I started out, but when I spend hundreds of dollars on keycaps, those keycaps had better reflect something important about me. Something that's Qwerty-only is not worth it to me. Sure, a standard ANSI-layout Qwerty board has it's uses, but about 9 out of 10 of the ICs here for Cherry-profile keycaps are *only* for that.

Somewhere along the way, somebody said those kits should be nixed and that it wouldn't be a problem because not enough people care about those kits, but it is a problem, and me being quiet about it would be too convenient for them. Now that the ergo/ortho/colevrak kits are out of the picture, I am too, and I just want the reason why to be clear.

OP's ergo & ortho kit designs were siiiiiiiiiiick. Those would have been the coolest legends *ever* to have hit reverse-dyesub PBT, and it only would have been possible with the Sanctuary Rebirth theme. It was perfection, and now it ain't happening. Have you seen the "Planck compatibility" of the standard TKC reverse dyesub keysets? They all assume you piece it together from keycaps from the main fullsize-board kit. The best you can do is the standard Planck layout, which isn't even a popular Planck layout, if you look at how it differs from the vast majority of what other users have in the main QMK planck/keymaps/ folder. Psuedo-blanks are waaaaaaaaaaay better and that's one of the great things Sanctuary Rebirth had going for it.

Heartbroken to see the loss of ergodox support, definitely a bad compromise.  My friends and I were prepared to purchase quite a few kits, base, ergodox, novelties, colemak and the black row 1 (can't remember the name)...

Unfortunately I'm out too, staggered layouts are outdated.  Got my fingers crossed there's some last minute changes to bring back expanded layout support but I know it is unlikely.  Good luck with the GB regardless <3

Man, this thread really brings out the elitism and superior complex in this hobby.
Imagine allowing what you own to define you this much.
I have an ortho 40% myself, but holy Batman salty people.
PBT has its pros and cons. Itís not like OP and TKC decided not to do those kits because they hate ergodox people.
The factory literally canít make them.

I think people have a right to be disappointed, we've been following this IC for years, building a set of kits we really liked, then overnight everything changed. It's a bit crap, and people have the right to express their disappointment.

If you're still going to buy the set, great. Don't **** on everyone else because they've lost all the compatibility they wanted.

This is precisely how I feel as a colemak user. I don't expect every keyset GB organizer to cater to my niche needs. In fact, I expect the opposite. I check most GMK sets to see if they plan on supporting it. 99% of the time they don't, and that's fine and I leave it alone. The annoying thing is that this IC has been going on for a long time with colemak support being offered day1, having me patiently follow it for so long just to drop it. I don't think people should aggressively express anger or anything, but when that happens you can expect vocal disappointment. Maybe future organizers will see all these people upset and learn from it.
