GMK Mountaineering

   RAL 2009                   PANTONE 544 C

STOCK GMK COLORS:
GMK Stock WS2 - GMK STOCK RO2 - GMK STOCK V4 - GMK STOCK AE - GMK STOCK GE1

INSPIRATION
GMK Mountaineering is inspired by the sport of Mountaineering. High altitude adventure is nothing to take lightly, the journey is tough. The goal... Stand on the highest point of the mountain, The Summit. Mountaineering requires preparation, mental toughness, strength and the correct tools.

GMK Mountaineering is take on this inspiration in a keyset

Base Camps colorway is heavily inspired by the colors of the tents and equipment that would be associated with Base Camp. Base Camp is located near the beginning of your climb, Mountaineers will use this area to prepare for the journey ahead. The bright orange of this kit are an unmistakable reference to Mountaineering equipment/gear and clothing, these colors are used to enhance visibility of climbers up on the mountain.

Summit alphas are an entirely new vibe from Base Camp, it is made to showcase being at the highest point of the mountain... the summit. At the summit there is a stillness. It is quiet, there is ambience of only the soft wind and your breathing. In the distance are mountain ranges as far as the eye can see. This kits colors are inspired by the cooler tones and light colors of the view from the top of the mountain, from the clear skies, clouds, and to the snow and ice below your feet. Summit alphas create an icy tone that elevates your desk setup higher than ever into the snowy altitudes. The colors are made to represent low contrast and visibility that you may experience when Mountaineering. This kit is a must - have alongside Base Camp, when the icy Summit alphas are combined with Base Camps clean modifiers the look is just priceless..

Gear set focuses on the technical aspect of Mountaineering, the tools and equipment you will bring with you. Your gear set is complex, thorough well thought planning is required to have right tools for the job. Your gear will accompany you throughout your climb, there will be moments where you must trust and rely on it.

Flag Set is a reference to the flags you may come across throughout your Mountaineering Expeditions. These are Tibetan prayer flags, the flags are always arranged in a specific order, from left to right: blue, white, red, green, yellow. Blue represents the sky, white represents the air, red symbolizes fire, green symbolizes water, and yellow symbolizes earth. All five colors together signify balance. This kit is another reference to an aspect of Mountaineering that is a great addition to the collection

Why would you not just update the original IC thread.

Hello, I felt the need that I needed to re-post to allow for people to to view changes that were made according to community feedback. I do not think that updating my original post and making changes would be evident to many people. I feel a re-post allows for a fresh temperature check of how the community feels about the set itself. Feel free to let me know your own thoughts in the IC Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSealXKDt12FYwipuTGv9iulseiH-56VbhxqB1TcFe8sJahrvw/viewform?usp=sf_link

split out numpad...ok, fine, I get it. I'm a numpad user but most people would never and there's 1/4 of sales that dont actually care about kitting and treat the base kits as a futures market.

The numpad kits: If you can make MOQ 100 for each numpad, you probably wouldve made MOQ 250 for the one numpad kit (and that, btw, means you better have MOQ 1000 on your base kit as your IC rates must be saying your set is a monster given the current attach rates). Which means you coulda saved 15$ per numpad kit for everyone. Double numpad kits aren't gonna be the answer for MOQ 250 base on the 4th page of Kono, and still aren't for the headline set for Omni or NK which are very different kitting decisions.

Two seperate numpad kits which at least one is required for basic ISO? With GMK MOQs, may as well take ISO users outback and leave them in the snow.

Thank you for the feedback, changes to kitting could be seen in the near future, to accommodate for a wider range of users and GMK MOQ.

ok so now that I can actually see the kits:
-alphas on the alternate base are illegible, they might as well be blanks
-Please turn on/use a denoiser node
-The novelties look like they might be cool, but between all of that noise in the render I can't see them.
-kitting could be cleaner

tl;dr please continue baking this IC  :thumb:

It's not illegible, it's meant to simulate the hypoxia when you're at the summit without enough O2.

Jokes aside, this doesn't really make me think of mountains at first glance, though I get the inspiration pictures and stuff.

Kitting needs work:
- mod tilde on r4
- f13
- would also like to see 2.25 shift for 660 layout support, or since you have 1u alt/ctrl/etc potentially a 2u shift for gk64 support (though this isn't super important)

Please change the fact that all of your boards are floating, also consider changing your kit renders as they are essentially stock KRK, it's easy to tell by the shadows going off the left of the caps. The concept has promise, but the IC needs to be developed more. The novelties stand out as more fleshed out than the rest of this IC, though, so good job on that! I wish you luck.

Really, really loving this theme but it could definitely use some more variety, less it becomes a vaguely-Orange Creamscicle looking from a distance. Even if making the Alpha legends a nice Navy for contrast. Maybe one more color, contrasted or soft for accent, as well.

Hey, so 2 things, 1 the alphas on the summit base are hardly legible, you need contrast. 2) This looks more like a traffic cone than a mountain climb tbh.

I'm late, but i seem to have missed this. This seems extremely badly presented, even though the idea is good. The renders are below average at best, and that title image kills me. I can't do anything about it, but i just had to vent about this.

Summit is a reference to being at the summit of a mountain and you will experience things such as low contrast, heavy snow and wind. GMK Mountaineering has a very themed design philosophy and will make sacrifices as such to achieve the look. I will continue to look into different shades however, perhaps a slightly darker one for the alpha color.
