Finally checking in - they do have a nice retro look with the 3000; and they do feel more solid than the Cherry doubleshots i had on, in terms of sound.

Now for the classic Hak Foo *****-o-rama™

I hate the side-print font on PrintScreen and Pause-- it is too far off to match well. It also feels like the font on the numbers stopped 'trying' after 3, or 2 on the numpad, and became more obviously Arial/Helvetica.

I guess I dreamed of really old school keys. Cupped, all text centred. But I'm whiny and never happy.

Off to post "old -8113 set of doubleshots, will trade for 1972 5,000 won note" to kbdmania.:biggrin:

They look great on your wood board Nanu! Did you "age" that photo?

One thing is for sure, they'll last 20 years if someone wants to use them that long and they're good colors that should age well.

thats why i like flipping the bottom row 180 and juxtaposing it to the top home row, the angle on it is sharp.

@didjamatic Yeah, it's a colorized version of this picture. I just remember seeing some ancient keyboard posted on GH before that had grey keys having the same sort of yellow/overcooked vegetable tinge.

Re: aggressively "sharp"/downhill front rows: it doesn't feel so apparent to me after angling my hands to suit (read: slouch less + tighten screws on wrist rest brackets).

Maybe it's time to consider modding in back feet instead. That'd help add some mass to the numpad I guess.

I tried that with the signature plastics spacebar and it sits at a very obtuse angle. It helped a lot with the sharpness, but it looked pretty ridiculous.

It's weird that spacebars cause pain for some people. Ironman, do you use a wrist rest or hold your hands over the keyboard? I am wondering if "sharp spacebars" only affect people that rest their palms on the desk. I use a wrist rest, and my thumbs only touch the top of the spacebar (on the SP one or the Realforce which seems to bother people as well).

I like the Filco spacebar. Other than the shininess, it's probably the best thing about it. I would avoid the bench grinder; those SP caps are pretty thin.

The SP caps are pretty nice. They are nowhere near as beefy as the Cherry Corp. double-shots, though. I broke out the G80-1863 yesterday, and it was half as loud as my 3000 with the SP caps. I do like the texture and the crispness of the molding of the SP caps. The font is nicer than the 3rd grade bubble letters on the Cherry keys.
