Only question is, what font to use and how much will that cost ?
Downside to double-shot from SP
Quote from: Fwiffo;249747
The font will be the standard signature Arial style font because that's all that's available.

We don't have a choice of font, but we do have a choice of placement.
...choice of font size too I believe.

Edit. Damn RoboKrikit, you got there first!

The solid keycaps with glowing legends was brought up earlier and SP won't/can't do that.

That was Fwiffo's reply when I suggested that we try glow-in-dark keycaps with black legends, not black keycaps with glow-in-dark legends.

WOW! Those are amazing! I can't believe i missed that last order. (That's what you get when you only lurk once in a while)

I would be interested in a classy set of double shots.  I'm purchasing a g80-3494 soon and would love to fit it with nicer caps.

My understanding is that glow in the dark can't be used for either part of the double-shot. And the glow-in-the-dark isn't very bright; I don't think they'd actually be legible in a dark room if there's any other source of light (e.g. your monitor, keyboard lights, a crack under the door...)
You can call me... Keyboard Otaku... or not quite...

Hei i was reading the keyboard pron site when i saw this.

Quote
Cherry Red ESC Keycap

These were originally made in very limited numbers for the "Teamwork" progamer keyboard designed by the Chinese wNv e-sports team and produced by Cherry.

The ESC key uses the same thick plastic and design as any of the vintage Cherry Corp. keycaps. This one is from a special order in 2010 and probably one of the very last double shot keys Cherry Corp. ever produced.

Obviously, these are very hard to find and I am very grateful to the person who made it possible for me to get my hands on one of these. Thanks a lot!

http://keyboardporn.com/keycaps/cherry-red-esc/

So forget the font for a second, and check out the thickness of the key. How the hell did they create an MO for that ??? and this the poster said was in 2010 !!! so wouldn't it be possible to make an mo for a 104 set with those key caps ??!??!?! :D

That would be friggin sweet.

Panda could you check with Cherry if they would be willing ?? I think this might be well worth exploring :D

The cherry doubleshot would then look like this

Quote
Cherry G80-1800 HFU
Cherry MX Blue, Double-Injection Molded Keycaps, 1996

For comparison; a dye sublimated colored keyset would look like this. But at 4 times the cost of doubleshots; i don't think it's a good idea.

http://keyboardporn.com/mx-switch/tipro-one-handed-keyboard/

Anyway for custom escape Leopold is selling an escaping man doubleshot in 2 different colors.

Moogle as exciting as the Cherry Corp Double Shots are, I think it might be near impossible for them to make such a small batch of caps for enthusiasts when they have a hard enough time marketing their mainstream boards in north america where most of our users are. To be honest I think the SP caps are pretty good for what they are and how much we pay for them.

Oh so they made it with the keyboard .... i didn't know that. I thought it was just the keys only (although people keep telling me cherry corp never makes keys alone)

There goes that dream :X

Squarebox spotted cherry g80-3000 doubleshots being sold separately

Only issue i can think of is the spacebar may not be compatible with say a Filco because the crosspoint for spacebar is slightly off center.

The capslock too but i could be wrong on that.

I thought doubleshot and pbt were not compatible together :/

Anyway after more research; seems the stabilizer keys aren't compatible with a Filco/Ducky. This is why someone who has these cherry ds is trying to trade for the Geekhack Double shot set.

The cherry ds looks good just too bad their not fully compatible.

UNLESS! we change this MO to make it specifically for the keys that the cherry ds do not support.

But i guess the problem with that is the inconsistency of the font :/ hm ....

I think there will be a fair number of people who won't bother unless someone can take charge of making a thread and keeping it organized by posting updates in the first post of the thread like WhiteRice did for the first order.  I simply cannot be bothered to read through hundreds of posts to try to figure out what the status is.

In short, if there isn't someone with some organizational skills in charge, forget it.  Even if it happened to be something I wanted, I wouldn't even take a chance if nobody's clearly in charge for fear the order also would get severely messed up.

Maybe the thing to do would be if someone's really interested, start a new thread for round three and do it right, and leave everyone guessing what round two was.
