I have to say the KBC keys seems like a good idea. Really digging the black laser cut keys with no infill.

If i understand the wiki correctly, PBT keys are made from a harder plastic. This makes them more wear-resistant? I hate it when the texture gets worn off.

With normal keyboards (abs?), the keys start to wear after about 5 months of use. How long does the PBT material last in comparison?

Perhaps harder, perhaps tougher, perhaps also a lower friction, dunno, all this can influence wear...
But what I do know is that my KBC caps show less wear after ~1 year than the stock Filco ones after a half!

Can anyone doubleshot the KBC PBT KFC keys?

Also, why don't you Otaku people go make your own group buy already? :boink: This one is for double shots. :suspicious:

Lasered PBT with no infill.  I believe Signature Plastics has the equipment/molds to do this.  This will last a LOT longer than all the other alternatives being discussed.

Naturally. :smile: You could get an Otaku group buy going, there's certainly enough people asking. It just seems odd to ask for legendless keys in a doubleshot thread. If anything personifies keys with legends more then physically cutting the character out and filling it back in with a second color, all in the hopes that the legend will never wear off, I dunno what it is. :lol: It's like the two extremes.

I know that the SteelSeries, Filco, and Rosewill RK-9000 all have the same keycap profile. I've mixed and matched each on different boards with no issue.

Laden3 mentioned that after having SP laser etched the pbt keys; to then pass it along to Unicomp to dye sublimate them.

I think that would rawk :D

PBT with engraved is interesting but wouldn't be as clear as a doubleshot would it ? thats why maybe the added dye sublimate to it would be better :X if possible.

I'd sell my ducky pbt laser etched for those :D

IMO, you were too open for ideas... it is probably better to come out with the set of keycaps you want and start collecting people/votes/money etc, like what was done in the first order
or (influenced by personal preferences)
try something different from dual-shot and ABS= PBT and laser or PBT and dye-sub (I really want this... if Unicomp is willing to do it cheap, that would be great!) or glow-in-dark and dye-sub (I like this too...but, not sure about the outcome)

Still, I appreciate someone's effort in doing these custom orders (since most of the people like me don't want to take the risk and are too lazy), would you mind trying to do the things mentioned above >.<'''

Step 1 - Final consensus on keycap set needs to be agreed upon .... (doubleshot abs keycaps again; or pbt laser etched ??? Color scheme ???? Any special keys or extra booster packs ???? Thickness of keycaps should be better than the previous MO done by whiterice imho )

Step 2 - Get the price quote from Signature Plastic (haggle for discount. Ever heard of groupon ??? people bulk buy in exchange for discounts )

Step 3 - Post the pricings + shipping costs (especially for international participants)

Step 4 - Collect the moolahs (people who don't pay in time lose their slot)

Step 5 - Send payment to SP. Wait for them to make and be shipped to the organizer.

Step 6 - Organizer sorts the keycaps by parcels; ships them all out to participants (packaging should be like those USPS boxes whiterice used)

Step 7 - Everyone gets their keycaps = profit ;_;

:X any takers ???

As if we can reach a final consensus...everyone has their own ideal set of keycaps (look at all the previous posts), the person who is willing to spend his/her time in organizing this custom order should have the authority to decide what he/she wants. Then it is up to the others to choose whether to follow or to wait until someone else to organize another custom order with their favorite color/ material etc. You can vote me down if you think I am wrong, but, please correct me or give me a compelling reason, for example "You are just an idiot because you didn't buy a Filco."

No biggie, but maybe we can get more discount instead then :x

@laden3

But i wouldn't discount the suggestions made for far. Some of them have been good :X but it's about time the new organizer step in and say what the sets going to be and get the price quote for it.

Anyway this is my suggestion for whoever wants to take over

- 104 doubleshot abs (cherry mx compatible keycaps obviously)
- DCS ?
- different font (i thought White rice's font was fine; but for a change maybe something more mainstream like smaller font. Suggestions ? )
- dolche ( same as White rice's. I think the color scheme rawks :} )
- WASD keys same like White rice's but with arrow keys on the sides.
- OPTIONAL booster packs (blank keycaps; J shaped enter; small sized \| and backspace for compatibility with steelseries 6gv2/7g keyboards; alternative windows keycap)
