hi, to those who need to see the color,
since fwiffo don't have his camera right now.

I like VAG.

There seem to be some usable dark blues in there.  Are those all ABS?

Is there a list of colour names to go with those codes or do you just order by code?

All the colors in fssbzz's picture are ABS. It's only one of the two chains though (the other being entirely tones of grayish).

I think you'd just order by code. I assume it's the system used by their plastic supplier; I don't know if it could translate into some other system like pantone.

Half of the plastic plate is roughed up (like the top of a keycap) while the other  half is untampered (like the sides of a keycap).

Aaah. I'd wondered if the different finishes could be used to add some variety if the choice of colours wasn't there.

Wow, they have some unfortunate color codes in there. VAG? Seriously?

Anyhow, word search aside, a nice blue legend on a black key would get my vote. Say, BFR or BO. See? BO! who picked these names? You know the SP office is just waiting for the day when someone orders up double shot keys that have a VAG legend in a BED keycap.

I was thinking a little lighter, like BFN, BFP, or BDH. I think they'd look better for an inverted scheme on WASD or other keys. BO looks like it might be ok for that, but BFR just seems too dark to me.

Hmm, yes, those could work too. BDH is a rich color. The only reason I picked the dark ones was so it wouldn't look neon. Need something in between these two.

Signature doesn't do POM, and PBT isn't compatible with the double-shot process. They also don't have a serif font.

I think I'm down for nearly anything, 'cause no one would have anything like it.  I really like the idea of #$@! on the ESC key, I dont' need WASD (but don't care one way or the other), and as far as hobbies go ... I'd be buying a keyboard to match the keys (not the other way around), so IMHO anything <$100 or so is fine.

I would love to get this colour scheme.  Just out of curiosity and being new here, what would this would cost for 1 set? Also, when is this order going to occur?
Forgot to ask: From the pictures, it looks like there are only enough keys for the tenkeyless. Will it be a full 104 key set?
-Thanks

No new ideas for a while so I thought I'd try and get the ball rolling again. Nothing amazingly technical, no fonts, just some basic colour schemes. I took colours from fssbzz's picture of samples earlier in the thread though (as far as can tell) paint.net has no function for taking an average colour from a group of pixels so I may have selected the odd dud.

Nice mock ups. I think the green looks best, but mostly because it's made entirely out of green. The yellow thrown in with the two oranges is distracting, likewise with the lavender paired up with the two blues. Are there any other nice oranges and blues that could be used on WASD?

I am partially colour blind so those combinations look fine to me!

Having also created a "Smurf" keyboard and a "Cheetos-proof" keyboard (:puke:)I think that the colour choices are probably best left to other people. I could knock a couple more up if you see colours that you think will work well together.

I'm not quite sure why many gamers use wasd.  your pinky is your weakest finger, so if you use the other 3, you're shifting your entire hand left one key on the home row.  why not use esdf and leave your fingers on the home row where you learned to type anyway? so for me, if you do a set of gaming keys, i'd much rather have just the arrows on the keys so i can put them on esdf.  as far as colors go, im fine with anything contemporary, nothing i'd find on a shag carpet from the 70's.

wasd been in place for a long time, i think it was back in the 80's where you could have 2 player pc/commodore games and one person would take wasd
and the other would take ijkl and there's you 2 player game.

I prefer where the ctrl sits under my pinky with WASD, as I've found my pinky is a bit shorter ratio wise compared to most people's. Which kind of explains why I never use them when I type really.

Me too! My pinky is also disproportionately short (because I spent so much time as a kid writing and drawing, and apparently I am heavy handed so it smushed my pinky into midgetism). Finally, someone else with a short pinky!

I have a permanently disabled joint on my left pinky. The joint is locked on straigt and can't be bent to any direction. This makes it impossible for me to press left control with my left pinky if I'm using WASD. On the other hand I can use left control if I'm using ESDF.

My vote would go for the arrows, so people can use either WASD or ESDF depending on their needs and wishes.

I'd vote for WASD and EF, personally... That way you can have the nub on the alternate F key still, for typing purposes. Really, it's not like adding two keys is going to make the cost of the set go ridiculous.

I guess if the WASD are just marked with arrows it would work, losing the nub on F  doesn't matter that much really.
If they're marked with letters AND arrows then clearly it would mean 4 extra keys to have ESDF as well.
But my preference would be for no arrows, just a different shade of the same hue as the rest of the alpha keys - more 'subtle' than 'in your face' :)

Lasered PBT with no infill.  I believe Signature Plastics has the equipment/molds to do this.  This will last a LOT longer than all the other alternatives being discussed.

I am most definitely interested in this, I am assuming the UK key layout will be available, ie the larger enter key ?

In terms of the specific designs I like most of them, and barring a decision on a bright pink layout or similar I will buy the keys.

Thanks to the guys who are spending time and effort to make this happen, it is appreciated.

I expect that buyers with a keyboard layout other than US will have to buy a booster pack containing blank keys and a larger enter key. It seems that there are just too many variations in international layouts for there to be a cost effective way of accommodating everybody.

I'd be down for that too. Since I have little hope for a full set of keys with GER layout even with booster packs/whatever, all I really want is some really nice blank WASD/ESDF keys and one or two novelty keys like Awesome or Troll Face.
