[taking orders!] Double shot replacements ROUND FOUR!

Does that mean language kits are done for, or will be available at insane prices ?

Everything will be more expensive.

The problem is not so much low-quantities of some legends, but low quantities of different colors.

I think, if I axe away BLOOD, NOIR and ORANJE, at least some will get something of the remaining styles (SPH, RETRO and ROUND3), so the prices for these could be lower.

What about ROUND3 style in just GX (very dark grey)?

The GE colored keys cost 20% more than the GX keys!

I don't really mind the prices. I don't want SPH, retro or round3 though. Looks ugly.

Did they just randomly increase the prices?
What was their explanation?

SP couldn't just make discouting for everything simply because we're ordering almost (or more than!) 60k keycaps?

They're so greedy!

190x STANDARD kits plus a few extras in 3 different colors (GAMER)

vs.

79xSPH
80xRETRO
56xROUND3
52xORANJE
40xNOIR
34xBLOOD
plus some RGB(Y) ...

It is the colors mainly.

If there where say 200 ordered for the same color-scheme, I could pull through some low quantity kits in different colors, but this way, it does not work.

Also, I think the costs just raised a bit and then there is some buffer to compensate for potential errors.

Their real customers will never be so troublesome and just order 1000 sets of 60-150 different keys and that's it!

Couldn't we just try to focus on one or two styles? It's getting really expensiv the way we go now!

Yes, I think it is better this way. Also, some do not want to miss anything out and spread their order accross all of the styles.

With every new color, they have to clean their molds to make sure there are not residues from the previous run.

I knew that it would not be the same, but I've thought that ordering more than in Round 3 would compensate for that.

Like me. With less sets I order less, that's pretty much it.

How does this affect blank keys, by the way?

They few Caps being kicked out with the existing "rules" will not be enough to reach the planned price.

I did not yet get a quote on these. Blanks are cheaper but will be again more expensive than in Round 3.

When I've finished the updated price list.

I got a message from SP and she says that they had to add a little buffer this time, because she had to sell her underwear to make sure they don't get bankrupt on our order (Round 3).

Now we have to pay for our sins!

Whatever happens, we can't blame you for having tried to propose a wider choice :-)
You should probably start a detailed poll including probable price variations regarding your previous question on the ROUND3 style, otherwise you'll have to make a judgement based on a few answers and that would end up being non representative.

Which basically means we'll never reach round3 pricing, even with just 1 set a 200 orders.

No, we just need to order MOAR!!!!

I've got news about spherical blanks:

No PBT!

They can do PBT but keys might fit a bit tight or keys with more than one keymount won't fit at all because PBT shrinks.

Please keep in mind that the molds for sphericals they use are from the 1970s, a time when they did double-shots and no sublimation print and back then they used the laser for laser disks and not for ugly key cap labels!

Also, there might be quality issues if they leave the legends away, so if we want to save money, we get (maybe) a bit uneven top-surfaces. The other option is to let them make a dummy-legend in the same color as the key.

edit:

Prices for blank 1 unit keys will be for 100 keys per color!

BLOOD/RGBY      |RGBY kit (120-126 keys)                     |30.00|  1| 38| 30.00
BLOOD/RGBY125WIN|RGBY kit (1.25 units keys)                  |10.00|  1| 13| 10.00

Are the same as NOIR/* right? So the issue should be the same as with the ORANJE/RGBY...

I hope you can keep these Sets... but at least try to not kill both, I think some would switch to the other Set. (I would take Oranje if Blood will not be available, but Blood is my favorit)

The other Sets aren't really what I want...

When can we expect a definite answer that the sets stay or are removed?

Then:
TOOL n

TOOL n+1
gives (n+1)x TOOL

Before 7bit says "pay up!!" All these deadlines are for determining which kits are keepers which ones are not.

That being said, 7bit, are you giving another deadline for some of the lower volume pre-orders? or this is like pretty much it?

First of all I need to reduce the color-choices.

I've thrown out ROUND3/GAMER/ORANGE and ROUND3/GAMER/BLUE.

You can have ROUND3/GAMER/GREY and ROUND3/GAMER/BLACK instead.

There will be no ROUND3/RGB keys.

If we keep ORANJE style, there could be ROUND/GAMER in orange on very dark grey, because these have the same colors.

There will be 2 new kits for ROUND3 with white on very dark grey A-Z and punctuation keys.

It is most likely, I throw out the BLOOD style.

I'm currently unsure about NOIR ....

Because the number of different labes does not so much influence the price, lower quantities will more likely be produced.

So there will be all language choices available including BEPO, NEO and alike.

I will also offer row 3 sphericals for both the numpad and A-Z keys, to have an all-row-3 layout.

RETRO might be the only style where RGB/RGBY stuff survives.

Maybe just RGY because lightblue is the default color, so a 2nd blue would be overkill under these circumstances.

NOIR/NEO would make me get and learn it. >:-D

Do you mean the 25 key limit isn't important as long as there are enough orders for the style in general? That would make me want to do... stupid things.

There should not be too many legends ordered less than say 25 times, but the price is now per color and key size only, no matter how many different legens we have.

In Round 3, there was one price regardless of color or row as long as there where not too many different colors involved.

Apropos NOIR: One argument to keep NOIR is that there are still those CHERRYBLACK supplelemt keys, which will contribute to this color-scheme.

But BLOOD will surely bleeding.

hope your december is not that hectic.

btt:

ORANJE/RGBY
NOIR/RGBY
ROUND3/RGBY
BLOOD/RGBY

is basically all the same thing. Why not make one RGBY kit for all 4 styles?

btt:

ORANJE/RGBY
NOIR/RGBY
ROUND3/RGBY
BLOOD/RGBY

is basically all the same thing. Why not make one RGBY kit for all 4 styles?

Regards
sinis

ORANJE/RGBY<---- RGBY on very dark grey (Camel Case, off-center)
NOIR/RGBY<---- RGBY on black (Camel Case, off-center)
ROUND3/RGBY<---- RGBY on very dark grey (ALLCAPS CENTERED)
BLOOD/RGBY<------this is the same as NOIR/RGBY

Then there are those black on RGBY and white on RGBY kits.

Why did I bring all this **** up?
I will think about this.

This may take a while ...

I'm glad to see the spherical space cadet set is remaining sacrosanct.  I'm not going to pay $120 for one though, so everyone switch your orders plz.  kthx.

If we keep ORANJE style, there could be ROUND/GAMER in orange on very dark grey, because these have the same colors.

I'm currently unsure about NOIR ....

What will it take for NOIR/GLIDER to make it. I'll order more if I have to.
