Heh, I don't know that lurking for a year and buying a couple keyboards in the classifieds qualifies me.

Have you considered putting up a post somewhere detailing what you need and how to do the work? Like how to collect so many paypal payments without ending up short of money from all those fees, dealing with refunds, etc. Ordinary people wouldn't have a clue about that, you almost need some Ebay pro with that sort of experience .

PayPal fees must be covered by those who pay.

I need a simple list of how much everybody paid once in a while.

Took some more trys but the bot finally did its job.

Why is a Noir blank TKL more expensive than a Colemak Tenkeyless kit? Not complaining, just curious. I remember having seen some talk about this but didn't pay attention then. :(

I've got to split these up. Prices for blanks which come in regular colors (black, very dark grey, lightgrey, dark grey for cylindricals and blue, grey for sphericals) and those other colors for which blanks are expensive becuase of the low quantities.

Paypal will suspend your account if you say that out loud. The money-collector will need to hide it in the 'shipping and handling' cost.

Don't see the problem. When I paid for Round 1 I added a bit to cover the PayPal fees.

Yep.  That is almost exactly the keyboard I want to make!  I'd like the META key to be caps-lock (labeled "SHOUT"), and I'd like the - and + and [ and ] keys a slightly different color.  Yeah, I should get better at my touch typing, but those are the keys I still have to look at to get right.  ;-P

The kerning and font size needs to be fixed on some of those keys though.  e.g. SHIFT should be kerned like CONTROL.
And I want a Mac "splat" (COMMAND) instead of a foot.

Now I remember: I've thrown out white on orange because it was a stand-alone color :-(

Just for that, I will not be your USA pawn!  ...kidding!  ;-P

But, dammmit, I really like those orange keys with white lettering in the ROUND3 spherical, big centered text - definitely for accents like ESCAPE and arrows (as shown).  I have no idea why; I just don't like these "modern" off-centered printed styles.

I agree. Though I don't mind off-centered "modern", I still prefer large centered letters on my sphericals. If I get doubleshots, they had better be visible from the moon!

Important:
I still need someone to collect money for Round 4!

I will collect money from the fraction of 266 people who are in the USA, and send the amount collected to Signature Plastics.

and on that note, the thread dies.  :-P

PS: dorkvader, I'm pretty sure those grey, darkgray, orange keys in the picture are cylindrical, not spherical, no?

OK, I add this color again, but only the Escape, WASD and cursor-arrows:
ROUND3/ESCAPE/WHITE/ORANGE Escape key ($7)
ROUND3/CURARROWS/WHITE/ORANGE 4 cursor arrows ($9)
ROUND3/WASD/WHITE/ORANGE WASD  keys ($15)

I was hoping that one of you can answer this for me.  I want to get info from SP because I want to start up my own group buy.  Before I do an interest check I want to get pricing from SP.  Can you clarify what "family" I should be looking for? (DCS, SA, DSA)?  These would be for complete sets of 87 or 104 Filco compatible keycaps.  I don't know if they handle the Leopolds funky space bar.

DCS: The key caps which come closest to Filco and Cherry keys.
DSA: low-profile keys, spherical only only in one row available.
SA: sphericals which are higher than DCS and also thicker.
For older Leopold keyboards there is a space bar. I'm not sure about the newer models ...

By the way, is there any chance for a red keycap WASD with white lettering?
Since the KBDRUNNER is likely to happen, the colors would be in the press anyway, or am i missing anything?

Pricing goes per row and shape. So row 1, 1 unit keys in white on red are not much of a problem.

Yeah, I read your rants about SP, but it's all for fun, and we don't really have any other options, right?  So, may as well go in on the group buy and see what kind of mods make any difference.

If I were gay I would blow you.  Instead, I'll just order more keycaps.

By the way, your robot seems stuck.  I added some RGBY and something else, it sent me a new list, and they weren't on it.  We'll see what happens when I send this one.

We owe everything to 7bit, thanks for organizing this momentous 4th Double-shot Round.  You've been very patient with all of us, and I am sincerely grateful for all of your effort and support.

I suspect your bot (software-wise) is all worn out by now..........?

He's got a subforum, and has been deleting his posts. My guess is he's waiting until there's a "worthy" one. I think it's a great strategy, as I feel some of his posts are "fluff", though the ones with real content are usually great.

Beautiful bird, the Norwegian Blue.

Ugh, I still need to redo my order. I'll have to spend some time tomorrow rethinking it. Figuring out which kits have what a want/need is really the hardest part.

hmm, I still haven't figured out how often you trigger that script.
Sometimes I get the confimation email almost instantly, other times (like now) I don't hear anything for quite some days...
But as long as everything is on the list when I get it next time, thats no problem for me :P

btw. last update I got is from the 18. Jan.

Absolutely no offense intended!  Anyway, I was referring to my offer at message 3114  http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?20485-Double-shot-replacements-ROUND-FOUR!&p=495226&viewfull=1#post495226

I have a paypal account that I rarely use, so it can be devoted to Round4 for a few months, and I can send all verified funds collected off to SP when ready.  However, I wonder if it might be safer and easier for everyone to just call up SP and give a credit card directly to them - let SP keep track of the payments and have direct contact with each of us.  Don't we have a contact up there who knows us?  Melissa something?

Thought that ^^^^???? would be funny!

Nevertheless, I'm not sure that a relatively new member is trustworthy enough to collect the funds for all those key caps...

BTW: I've asked if it is possible to pay by credit card and Melissa said they only take PayPal.

If you don't get a message within 24h just send a dummy message to remind the script to send a new one.

I can only test if it sends out all messages or not.

At least the incoming messages get registered.

7bit, sorry to be so annoying but if you could answer these few questions as best you could I would be very thankful (i am sure others might be wondering these as well):

Do you have any idea when you will be taking payments/deadline for payments? Are you doing the partial payment, then full payment deadline like round 3? Or just a single payment to save time.

When will be the deadline to add items to orders? I still am not sure which picture/novelty keys I want. Are all of these keys/colors are still available or did some get removed due to not enough demand?

Are the current posted prices the final prices or will they drop some like round 3? Trying my best to keep my order at ~$250-275. I am crazy for spending that much on key caps. Ever since I joined this forum a little over a year ago I have purchased 4 mechanical keyboards and now about $450-500 in keys. If I knew round 5 won't be shipping till the year 2020 I wouldn't be wanting so many keys.   O_O

Thanks again for all your troubles and efforts doing these group buys and everything for the GH community.

I love that coffee cup for the pause/break key! Can it be available alone(like the alien key) in round3 colors?

Thanks

It's already available:
ROUND3/SYMPAUSE
RETRO/SYMPAUSE
NOIR/SYMPAUSE
BLOOD/SYMPAUSE

7bit, sorry to be so annoying but if you could answer these few questions as best you could I would be very thankful (i am sure others might be wondering these as well):

Do you have any idea when you will be taking payments/deadline for payments? Are you doing the partial payment, then full payment deadline like round 3? Or just a single payment to save time.

I will start taking payments as soon I've found someone to collect the money. I can only handle EUR payments.

First I need to get 50%. Once we ordered I know how much the keys caps will really cost and we sart to collect the 2nd half which must be paid before SP ships the key caps.

When will be the deadline to add items to orders? I still am not sure which picture/novelty keys I want. Are all of these keys/colors are still available or did some get removed due to not enough demand?

You will be able to add any available item even when we've ordered, until anything is sold out.

Are the current posted prices the final prices or will they drop some like round 3? Trying my best to keep my order at ~$250-275. I am crazy for spending that much on key caps. Current prices are quite accurate, except that I don't know how much the key caps really cost until we order.

Hi is it too late to get in on this GB? The RETRO/TKLRGBYSYM looks tempting, and my keys are getting abit of shine into them...

Is NOIR/RGBY/WHITE not valid?  I had sent that to the bot with the other RGBY but only one of them is listed.

And ya'll need to to all order a Commodore key for my benefit so they can return as an option!

I'm not sure that a relatively new member is trustworthy enough to collect the funds for all those key caps...
BTW: I've asked if it is possible to pay by credit card and Melissa said they only take PayPal.

That's cool. I'm not really wanting to take on the responsibility, but since NO ONE else was offering, I figured I'd do it.  The only other offer was ripster, and he was at least up front about planning to steal everyone's money!  ;-P

If SP can take PayPal, why don't we just pay them directly, and let 7bit know who has paid what?  I must be missing some critical point here....Oh well.

Good luck!  :-)

I think the critical point is that to SP, this is all one order.  My sense is that they don't have any billing automation.  When you order something, a person (named Melissa) figures the total and manually sends you a Paypal invoice.  They're not really set up to do 250 transactions for a single order.
