Cherry Switch Tester Holiday Tour 2011!
« Reply #52 on: Sun, 13 November 2011, 23:49:02 »
Ok guys time to get down to business.  Please PM me your addresses if you haven't already.  As soon as I have them all, I'll ship the numpad out to the first person on the list.

Speaking of...

There are some clear inefficiencies in the list order.  I'd like to respect sign-up order as much as possible without doing insane things like shipping from PA to CA to FL to CA again, then back east to SC.  Here's the list as it stands in the OP:

1. Quarzac (Philadelphia, PA)
2. dewcorps (NC)
3. nolliepoper (FL)
4. curro123083 (Nixa, MO)
5. falerus (Los Angeles, CA)
6. tsangan (Philadelphia, PA)
7. cxxpsu (CA)
8. AKIMbO (south FL)
9. Jam (Orlando, FL)
10. demik (Los Angeles, CA)
11. NumberJ (SC)
12. Lmnr (Atlanta, GA)
13. Lethal Squirrel (MI) -- maybe??

Here is my attempt at preserving some fairness wrt sign-up order.  There are two eastern tours split by a western tour.

1. Quarzac (Philadelphia, PA)
6. tsangan (Philadelphia, PA)
2. dewcorps (NC)
3. nolliepoper (FL)
4. curro123083 (Nixa, MO)
5. falerus (Los Angeles, CA)
10. demik (Los Angeles, CA)
7. cxxpsu (CA)
8. AKIMbO (south FL)
9. Jam (Orlando, FL)
12. Lmnr (Atlanta, GA)
11. NumberJ (SC)
13. Lethal Squirrel (MI) -- maybe??

I think priority mail can zig zag the country at two or three days max per hop.  But if we can shave off a day here and there I think we can compress the round significantly.

An almost pure regional sort would look something like this:

13. Lethal Squirrel (MI) -- maybe??
1. Quarzac (Philadelphia, PA)
6. tsangan (Philadelphia, PA)
2. dewcorps (NC)
11. NumberJ (SC)
12. Lmnr (Atlanta, GA)
3. nolliepoper (FL)
9. Jam (Orlando, FL)
8. AKIMbO (south FL)
4. curro123083 (Nixa, MO)
5. falerus (Los Angeles, CA)
10. demik (Los Angeles, CA)
7. cxxpsu (CA)

What do you guys think?

yeah, going from one end of the country to the other is just dumb. im fine with either of the other two lists. we might even be able to wrap it up within a month.

litster has offered to join forces and include his tester numpad in the tour to help speed things up.  We're thinking that his tester will go to the west coasters while mine heads back east.  What say ye?

His layout is a bit different than mine, and it includes tacto blacks (clear stem w/black spring) and green/grey in the tall keys.  I think greens are like extra stiff blues, and greys are even stiffer blacks (they are both typically only on the spacebar of Cherry brand keyboards).

I can probably get a Canadian tour going later after this first one.  I go to Vancouver from time to time.  I can mail it out when I am up there.  I also have an address in Canada that the numpad can eventually get back to at the end of the trip.

I might have missed it.  Is there any requirement for mailing the numpad like tracking number and minumum level of shipping method (priority mail?)?  Just want to make sure we don't lose our numpads.

We haven't set formal requirements, but that's a good idea.  Shipping USPS Priority Mail or equivalent, with tracking number, should be required.

Ha, I'm terrible at Starcraft.  A couple of seasons ago I was platinum, and have played only team games since then.  I should be good since I've been playing since day 1 in 1998.  I play random but in my heart I'm a zerg.

Ok!  We have addresses for everyone except Reptile.  I've updated the OP with the two lists and new orders.  I know some of you got shafted order-wise.  cxxpsu and RogueThunder are both going out of town in December, so they need to be first.  They're also closer to litster than LA.  As for my list, I again tried to respect sign-up order as much as possible while not doing anything ridiculous with shipping.  The numpad will be in Philadelphia for a while so if anyone wants to have a go at a fairer shipping optimization in the meantime, have at it.  Here's the sign-up order for my list:

1. Quarzac (Philadelphia, PA)
2. dewcorps (NC)
3. nolliepoper (FL)
4. curro123083 (Nixa, MO)
5. tsangan (Philadelphia, PA)
6. AKIMbO (south FL)
7. Jam (Orlando, FL)
8. NumberJ (SC)
9. Lmnr (Atlanta, GA)
10. brsp25 (Philadelphia, PA)
11. xrxxxr (Ann Arbor, MI)

My numpad will be on its way to Quarzac tomorrow!  Don't forget to take and post "travelling numpad" pictures.  Keep the numpad no longer than 2-3 days and use USPS Priority Mail small flat rate boxes.  They cost $5.20 to anywhere in the country and fit the numpad beautifully.  Post in the thread when you receive and when you ship (include tracking number) so we can all follow the pad's progress.

Looks like cxxpsu is the first on the west coast list.  I will send it out tomorrow.  I don't think I have time to take a picture of my tester before sending it out.  Let me know if you want me to take a picture first.

How much time do each person has before sending it off to the next person on the list?  3 days?  A week?  I would like people to submit iTrader feedback for the person sending the tester to you, respond to iTrader feedback that other people submit for you, and to the tester owner :-).  There is no money involved, but trust will be built.  It would be good to have that on record, especially for new forum members with no or low number of iTrader feedback.

Sounds good?

Being one of the new members that JUST signed up, I think that's a very good idea. I have been lurking around for a little while on this forum, mainly reading the Wiki multiple times. Only really signed up to see if there were any tester boards/bags out there and love how the community gears up and does these sorts of things. Doing the iTrader feedback will establish respect, trust and rapport with each other and throughout the the community of this forum. The people that have responded to my (one) thread, especially Hashbaz have been so helpful and kind, making me definitely love the community here.
