Arctic Silver 5, 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. Need to replace dem thermal paste.
People still use AS5?
What would you recommend then ?
Hmm well it beats the cheap cm crap I've been using 4-5 months and the thermal paste turns to clay. Giving AS5 a go as recommended by a friend and I've read reviews and they said it's pretty good. anyways, I just got the 3.5g tube, so not really that expensive and I'd prolly gonna reapply it again. I think I've applied a little too much )
Pretty much anything that's not silicone based since modern TIMs don't require a burn in like AS5, but you can't beat Innovation Cooling Diamond 7 for the price. Just be aware that it's mildly abrasive since it has diamond particulate suspended in it. Phobya HeGrease/Gelid GC-Extreme and Prolimatech PK-1 are also toward the top in performance and aren't too expensive. If you want the best and are willing to work with the hassle and don't have a CLC, waterblock, or heatsink with a round plate and don't have an HDT style heatsink, Indigo Xtreme/Maingear Epic T1000 is the way to go.
After that it's Arctic Cooling MX-2 or MX-4, Tuniq TX-2 or TX4, Noctua NT-H1, Prolimatech PK-2 or PK-3, Shin Etsu X23-7783D, or Arctic Silver Ceramique. In some uses, Coollaboratory Liquid Metal is also awesome.
