I made a trip to a local E-Waste recycler today...

$32 for the whole batch. I'm not sure how many work yet, but on top of the obvious Model Ms  & behemoth F there are three boards with Monterey Blues, and a few with White Alps.

I see a Monterey Blue.  If you got any interesting Alps boards (read not white or black) that you're willing to let go of for cheap, I'm definitely interested.  I need more interesting stuff to review.

And that bottom middle one looks like a funky Alps version G80-1800.

Very nice grab, I haven't been able to get my local e-waste group to go along with me coming in and picking stuff out.

I'm still new in the audiophile world! I don't think I'd be able to say much. :p
Been waiting for a couple months for it to show up on MassDrop though. Orange also happens to be my favourite colour, so it was literally the perfect match/upgrade!

Glad to see your patience paid off! It's an absolutely beautiful looking and sounding headphone! I tend to like Audio Technica headphones but the AKG 7 series headphones have always had be interested.

Very nice. about anything would be an upgrade over the turtle beach ones I have on my PC right now.  But I do use the mic quite a bit.  The orange looks like it would go nice with the Nostalgia set.

Just do what I did and get a nice pair of headphones and a Zalman ZM 01 and just attach it to the cord. If you're willing to drop some dough though, you can also get a AntLion mod mic. Metallica deserves better than Turtlebeach :P

$32 for the whole batch. I'm not sure how many work yet, but on top of the obvious Model Ms  & behemoth F there are three boards with Monterey Blues, and a few with White Alps.

Dat mtek.

Pretty happy that that one ended up having Monterey Blues. The last one I owned I purchased off eBay, and it had white alps, which was a little disappointing.

I wish I had the cash for a good set of headphones right now but the Toxic set was a little steeper than I anticipated.  But i don't listen to music on my PC that much anymore.  I usually just wait until the wife is at work and kids are at school and crank up my Z-5500's.  I know def not audiophile quality but still not bad for only paying $250 for them a number of years ago and I have a pretty small living room so they fill it pretty decent.

how's the headband?  I owned the K701 and I found the headband very stiff and hurt my head after having it on for over an hour.

I hear the Q701 headband hurts a lot too because of the pads, and you end up like this:

Haha!
AKG removed the bumps on the headband so it's only plain leather now. I've been listening to it for a couple hours and have not felt any pressure points. The earcup are made of memory foam, and are definitely a lot wider than what I've ever tried/owned.
I've got quite a big head and I'd usually feel clamping from headphones/headsets (mostly closed ones), but these were extremely comfortable and stayed in place without any painful clamping!

1st gen looks essentially the same but the wheel isn't capacitive; it's an actual wheel that rotates around.  2nd gen turned that wheel capacitive, 3rd gen put the buttons above the wheel (and made them capacitive too, so there are no moving buttons), 4th gen added the click wheel (first introduced on the mini), etc...

I'd love to get my hands on a 1st gen for a reasonable price.

Lotta little things ...

57110-0

57112-1

Potatos of the year, I know, but given the lighting and available time that's as good as it's going to get until the weekend :D

First impression ... lots of green!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
