Model M15 sells for $1200 on eBay
« on: Thu, 03 January 2013, 16:51:03 »

EDIT: accidentally read the amount funny and said it was two thousand, I was only $800 off.  ;)

One I have seen listed and described the same before (possibly a duplicate or perhaps relisted due to poor bidding?) has just sold for $1,199.99.

Here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexmark-IBM-M15-Ergonomic-split-keyboard-Unused-since-test-for-magazine-review-/290833570388?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&nma=true&si=4OovP1qevmwteLI1wYrB7aLAu0Y%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Thoughts?  I think this is slightly insane.  I can understand 400, ergo keyboards sell for similar prices, but two thousand?

I don't know if it's possible to justify spending $1200 on a keyboard.

I heard about this before. Those that use them don't want anything else, especially if they use them for business.
Because in that case, that kind of money is probably deductable.

I'd say you did well, considering!  I was watching that auction, too.  haha.  I was hoping one would slip through.  The seller who made $1200 on this keyboard tried selling it for a while at $700, and I think it was the same board, although I'm not certain, nor sure why the price hop.

Either way...absurd to pay $1200.

yeah it was the same guy who had it listed at a lower price as an auction iirc. He relisted it a few times at varying weird prices.

Funny enough, when I first looked at the listing, I could've sworn it said 2000 as well. I was getting confused by the other posts that insisted it was 1200.
Weird.

Some pricing seems pretty crazy. I had to sell my new, unused Datahand last summer due to life drama...sold it for $1,000 plus the chair kit $200 (at cost) to an RSI sufferer. A few months later one sold on Ebay for $2,000. That's the most I've seen them sell for. A couple had sold the previous year for around $1,500...but mostly $850-$1,100. It's hard to make sense of it all, LOL

I wish I still had my Datahand/chair mount. I had purchased it for a reason :(

The way things are looking with M15, that must have been a deal of lifetime.

Why not spend $1,200 on a keyboard when you spend over $50 for an individual key cap? 101 key caps...let's see--that's over $5,000! Those M15's are a steal at only 1/5 of that.

Yessir, collector value and the rarity (or perceived rarity) drive the price up.

people packing them incorrectly and them getting damaged in the post results in less existing driving up price....i must be the only guy to buy an m15 and have this happen to him.

Ughh such a beautiful keyboard with an awful wound. Would be nice to get a big refund and keep the board. If not for collector value, at least enjoyment of typing.

I don't know how much of a partial refund someone would get if they said they still wanted to keep it and use it, especially with something of that high of a sale price.

Any chance of epoxy fixing that dome? I know it wouldn't be pristine, but at least you could have the functionality of the complete package back.
My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.
