hellocodes - full green LEDs  and yes, a resistor next to every LED

Halverson - you won't need any resistors if you ordered LEDs since they are included.  As you didn't go for a full board you're only getting 2 LEDs and 2 resistors.  If you plan on adding LEDs you need 1 resistor for each LED.

Oh okay, thanks for the info.

Is it too late to change the color to white?

Is it possible to have just the resistors soldered on by you? I don't have my switches yet.

My (admittedly limited) understanding is that the resistors used need to match the LEDs, so if alaricljs solders the resistors for you, you need to make sure the LEDs you are planning to use have the right voltage/mA specs.

I thought the same thing about the shipping but as boost stayed, a single aluminum board from Korea is about $60 and this also includes the shipping within the US. I'm good with it.

Just got a duck poker today from over there and I think it was $57 shipping. Pics soon.  :)

I have messaged alaricljs about this already, and you are right, thanks tho!  :)

No problem with that shipping price! I'm ready for my keyboard!!!

Probably trying to match brightness of different colors of LEDs.

Edit: also, to dial-in overall brightness versus power consumption as well.

To validate that the resistor values I chose work with the various LEDs.  The LEDs have a specific window of voltage input for the high voltage (~3.2v) and the low (~2.1v) colors.  I decided to use the fewest possible resistor values instead of 1 per LED color because at the low current allowance (3ma each LED) the difference in brightness did not merit the tiny differences in resistance.

Not wanting to just go on blind faith that I was right and the datasheets were right, I tested.

The large majority of that shipping is the Korean->US ship that you have to pay either way you get it from me.

So, boost, are you saying that it cost you $1500-$2250 (varied because of unknown variable) to have the keyboards shipped to you? Because a rough estimate of shipping 90KG to USA from Korea seems to be around $575 or something like that. And domestic shipping without tracking for a keyboard shouldn't be more than, what, $16-$25 depending on size and weight?

Did you actually have to pay 50x$40 for the keyboards then? Because I'm pretty certain you don't pay that when shipping bigger packages.

And are we getting tracking on the package for $60?

yes, it will be shipped priority mail.

These were shipped to me in 8 big boxes not as 1 big box.

pp fees you see on the invoice covers the line items, and the "shipping from korea to me" has the pp fees built into that.

Also want to note that the shipping fee amount was laid out by redline

I'm pretty sure he means that we paid paypal fees to pay for the LZ, then boost pays more paypal fees to send the shipping money.

I'm sure he can understand our shock, though, since the estimate in the OP was $20

Touche, I didn't think about him having to reimburse someone else for shipping via paypal.  Other than the fact that if it's through a bank account or paypal balance, there are no fees.  Esp if he did it as gift, too.

And even if he did have to pay fees for it being an international transfer, the math still isn't quite adding up.

OMG, quoting something totally answers all my questions and concerns!

Thank you, boost for your wonderful, thought-out and reasoned response.

FFS bro, I know how to internet and I know (unless my weights are *way* off) how much the shipping actually cost.  I also know how paypal works.  If they wanted to make a profit, just say it instead of hiding behind unclear quotes as if that absolves you of any responsibility to logical questions.

Yes, we were all aware of that part. That's not the issue here. You saying that it cost you something around $2000 to have them shipped to you is not working out. And it would be a lot easier if you just provided the numbers so that we can see what we are all paying for.
I would be more than happy to be proven wrong in this matter, but it's quite clear to me that there is obfuscation going on.
Could you also explain what you meant by "Also want to note that the shipping fee amount was laid out by redline"? Did you guys set a number for shipping the keyboards, and then count that in the profit as well?

Pp fee 3.9%(int) $89.90

Price before pp fee per keyboard $40.20
$89.10/50=$1.782

And you shipped it with what service then?

Because unless those boxes weigh 3 times more than what I expect they do:  8 boxes = 6-7 boards a box.  1 board at 4 lbs makes each box a max of 28 lbs or 12.7 kg.

This makes each box shipped through EMS (via EMS rates page: http://www.koreapost.go.kr/eng/sub/subpage.jsp?contId=e1020300) to region three 113,200 won.  Multiply that times 8 to get 905,600 won or $810 (via XE.com).

If they used something more expensive, bully for them, but these half-answers are really not helping.

If they decided "Hey, we worked hard and deserve to be compensated for our time and effort", again, good for them, I have no problem with a business making money to pay employees.

But half answers and snarky quote posts don't help that go down smooth.

Boards had an estimated design weight of 5lbs (for just the case), and you need to factor in the weight of packaging materials as well.  Also, shipping insurance.

Totally understandable.  Currently some in the US are crying about paying $60+ on shipping, welcome to my world.

In fact $60 shipping to my place here in Convict Town is way cheap.  Usually I now pay well over $90 to $120 for this type of service especially on a heavy keyboard.

I just wish I could receive mine soon.........but it won't happen......... :'( .

No tracking? That only makes me slightly nervous on the redonkulously expensive keyboard.... I would be happy to pay the few bucks extra for it =P

Is there insurance on it as well?

No no, you will have a tracking just marked as shipped to keep pp happy

On the side note, orders will start shipping on Tuesday as i will be picking up the stabs and leds from alaric this weekend.

Okay just paid $43.00USD for shipping.  Figured it's to have it shipped to alaric where he'll enjoy the misery of trying to put my monster together.  I do not envy him one bit  8) .

I just got the payment request from Ravi and I paid.  Simple.

I can only guess that the cost of having the keyboard shipped to alaric to start trying to put it together (have not seen anything of the LZ myself).  No one has contacted me saying that, because this type of GB is purely up to the individual to guess and assume.

Which might be dangerous here  :-\ .
