Why not throw "META" in there, while you are at it.  ;)

there's meta, I'm also adding the 1.25 variant

Is there room for an Apple command key in this set?

I thought about it but you can use meta, c64 key, atari key, blank, hyper, ... :D plenty of choices.

Edit: could you add a backspace 2.0 key cap to the extreme modder kit?

why? you already have the 2.0 in the TKL kit

Silly questionL Why are some legends not centered?  |\, shifts, enters...

that is pretty standard SP layout I believe.

The Round Three runs showed that they have the text legends for shift and return centered.  Personally, I'd love to see all the legends except for |\  to follow the Round Three look -- centered, uppercase text in that retro font.  It's the most credible match for real vintage hardware.

I concur. All text except the windows keys would look legit.

I'll give it a shot, but this retro+icons layout is quite nice I believe

It's not the icons that I'm not a fan of. It's the inconsistency of part text and part icons. Although I do think all text would look better IMHO. Maybe we can vote on it? The more I look at these, the better they sound.

I've also changed the arrow icons, if SP has the molds I prefer these ones.

I'm not worried about shipping costs at all......just as long as they get delivered to the address.  If you can provide detailed tracking numbers on all the orders then everything should work out right.

I asked for the quote together with a series of questions regarding legends and keys. I will hopefully receive a reply today, maybe tomorrow.

Normally I don't like text-only modifiers. I like symbol-only modifiers or text with symbols. But these with text-only really do remind me of the keyboards of the past. I'm kinda digging that look.

Yes, kind of like "Round 3" in R4.  Ironically, I will probably be typing on these before I ever see any caps from R4.

it seems R4 shipping will start at the end of Feb or March... so maybe there's a chance that you get R4 before this :) Anyway I'd like to make this a speed-buy if orders comes quickly enough.

Agreed and I'd probably never use it anyway since I'll be using the C=64 key.  ;D

Hope I'm not being a pill with all my questions, but I was just reviewing the keys again and are you not going to include a "GeekHack" key with the set?

at the moment, no plans for GeekHack or Deskthority keys... but if the SP quote is really that low we might want to add them to the mix

He still has to hand-sort everything and he said he won't start shipping until SA shows up.  SP hasn't manufactured them and I don't think the completed DCS caps have showed up in Germany yet.  It's going to be a while.  I will be surprised if I get them this year.

No, not the CCnG, I mean THIS set. Kit 1 + kit4. The C=64 had it's function keys down the right side, this one would be down the left, but there would definitely be a similarities there.

Sorry, I don't mean to derail the thread. Just excited about the set.  :-[

bad news regarding custom/special legends. As it is right now we already need 3 custom legends (c64, cofee and atari). The fact that they have the mold for DCS family doesn't mean that they have it for DSA too

I had a feeling this might be the case, since the legend mold is dependent upon the profile of the key top.

No worries, just stick with the original plan/design then.  What matters most is that the colours and style of the Font is maintained for this key-set.

$45 from SP.

I've got pricing for the set as it is now (more or less, with very few differences from the latest picture).

All prices in the 50 tier:
Code: [Select]
KIT 1: 53.30 TKL
KIT 2: 18.67 Numpad
KIT 3: 29.63 Mods
KIT 4: 12.69 C64
KIT 5: 54.78 Plum
KIT 6: 22.01 Extra
KIT 7: 22.87 ErgoDox
KIT 8: 43.17 Modder

we need a new mold for 2.75 shift, and 3 new legends. I'm a bit surprised by KIT 5 that is going to cost more than KIT 1 with half the keys. It would be really nice if we could match the 100 tier.

100 sets:
Code: [Select]
KIT 1: $46.45
KIT 2: $16.91
KIT 3: $22.28
KIT 4: $10.93
KIT 5: $42.59
KIT 6: $19.18
KIT 7: $19.47
KIT 8: $35.18

I think I'll remove all the custom keys except for the C64.

It would be nice if there could be a base kit and two different modifers kit, one with 1.25u bottom row and 6.25u space and one modifier kit with 1.5u bottom row an 7u space. As it is now if I would want this kit with plum modifiers on a win key less board I would have to buy the base, modder and plum kit and pay for ALOT keys that I wouldn't use.
This is a quick example made in paint which I think would fit the most people.
Making it easier to get exactly what you want without having to pay for a lot of keys which you wouldn't use.

I don't own a keyboard that this set could be used on (BS and one ALPS keyboard) but I will buy one so that I can participate -- love those retro keys.

This is definitely going to happen, just a few more days to define the layout. It's impossible to make everyone happy of course. At the end the guy who is sorting and delivering is samwisekoi, so I need his opinion

Do that.  Make sure he's happy to do it, because this can get ugly real fast.

Regardless of making everyone happy this is a real nice 'conservative' key-set.  Everyone should get one.

If this does happen, are the 1.75x right shift keys still happening? Would love to get a set onto a KBT Pure I'm planning to get

Okay, after weeks of work and disputes here is what I think is a very good compromise.

Please take the time to review all the kits and report any error!

These are the standard kits
If you just need a TKL or winkeyless (+ISO variants +colemak/dvorak/...) that's all you need. Very noob friendly, you just have to remember to get the spacebar (we will be suggesting that in the order form). These should cover the 70% of the user cases I presume.

These are the extended kits
Being DSA a key family very modder friendly we decided to put all the following options. Please note that Ergodox is still possible by selecting the individual blank keys

This should be 99% final.

The only custom key is C64 one! We removed all the others because SP doesn't have molds for many custom keys in the DSA family. Sorry about that, if we receive a gargantuan amount of orders we might reintroduce some of them.

Note to samwisekoi: ALL keys come already sorted, you just have to put kits together and ship.

If this is going to be very popular we might add a white on blue option.

White on blue would be awesome. I like the coffee standard one already, but I would buy the white on blue as well.
