Winkeyless wob 1800s aren't that common. Don't expect to find stuff like that instantly. Hell, I searched over 9 months for a particular keyset.

What about BoW 1800s?

Same thing, they're not that common and you'll be hunting for a while.

And would it be correct to assume that the 3000s would be less rare then?

As far as I can tell, it's about the same. Pretty sure that photekq and the other Cherry keyset hunters are out looking for a while. Took me ages to find a set for my 3000 build. Hunting vintage anything typically takes a while.

It's Shift + ` to make ~

Anyone have experience powdercoating aluminum cases? Thinking about getting a silver lightpad and powdercoating it black because it seems that black lightpads are pretty much unobtanium atm. Just a little nervous about how the color will compare to my black Viper.

I haven't done an aluminum case but I did have a batch of GH special edition panavise parts powdered.  They were 308 cast aluminum and it was no problem.  They turned out amazing.  The shop I used was Rainbow Paint and Blast in Cedar Rapids, IA.  Tammi at the shop has an amazing talent and is awesome to work with.

You can also probably get the silver one reanodyzed in black, as an alternative to powdercoating.

Normally I'd fret about the reanodyzation process making it weird (like eating away too much metal and making it hard to assemble) but I've heard about other GH'ers reanodyzing their keyboards with no problem.

Why not reanodize it?  I'm sure black is a common color and with something that small, you might be able to get a local shop to anodize it with another black order.

I would probably prefer reanodization to powdercoating, the only problem is I don't know where I'd have it done. There is a local place that does powdercoat work but I don't know of anywhere near that can do anodizing.

OEM is a bit of a misleading term in my opinion. When people say OEM, they are describing the huge tall profiles that companies like Vortex or Ducky make but I've have completely flat OEM caps from Leopold on my FC700R. So I still believe they are OEM, but not the typical tall OEM that you're thinking of.

They might be similar to the Cherry profile but I can't tell without a Cherry or GMK cap side by side.

Microcenter is the first place that comes to mind for me. Maybe a hobby supply store? Or maybe Radio Shack if you're lucky enough to have a Radio Shack that still carries electrical supply stuff.

You don't have a Hobby store in town? A place that sells like RC cars and helicopters? Or you could ask someone to proxy you some from a Microcenter.

The usual suspects don't turn anything up either? Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, local hardware store, etc etc.

Amazon and eBay can't help you either?

Im looking for raw usb wire at 40$ or less.
I searched amazon and I found more than 100ft and it ships in like a month.
I searched ebay kept finding already made usb cable and raw cat5-6 cable
I found a website that had 100ft at 40~ but out of stock.

What exactly are you trying to do anyways? Are you looking for a USB cable or just some wire to jump your keyboard or what? I don't think there's such a thing as special USB wire. I think it's the terminations are how the cables work together that make up a USB cable. I could be wrong, I'm not an EE.

I think he's just trying to create 'many' custom usb cables that's why he is searching for a supplier for the wire and other parts. Buying a usb cable and cutting it apart won't suffice to his needs.

Look at the stabilizer cutouts carefully. The Costar cutouts are much thinner and longer versus the Cherry ones.

No, the cutouts need to be specially cut like that. Typically you'll see one or the other, not both. For example, my KMAC plate only supports Cherry stabilizers.

It does seem like a very easy mod would be take a Cherry compatible plate and cut the Costar notches into it. A little more work going the other way.

Not sure why more custom plates don't have both cutouts like the GH60 though. Maybe extra cost due to processing time?

Oh~ I see, alright, thank you. :]

Meh, as for why more custom plates aren't both, I blame Korea's obsession with cherry stabs, hahahaha.

That small tab on the top part of the stab cutout is the only extra space required for costar stab to fit in a Cherry stab compatible cutout.

Took a look at SP's profile sheets, but I don't see height dimensions on the most sculpted caps.

What's the absolute height of SA profile row 1 caps for someone who has SA caps?

I read something the other week about taking the yellow off ABS caps.
The thread concluded that _______ works even better than hydrogen peroxide.
There was a brand that used it but you could just get the chemical from a pharmacy or whatever.
I'm fairly certain it was not Retr0brite as that is essentially hydrogen peroxide.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

What is a good active PS/2 to USB adapter? Many of them on Amazon had bad reviews for being sent generics instead of the real thing.

There is one that Techkeys and geekhackers.org carries that I recommend using. I have a few and I've never been disappointed with them.

+1 vote for these - I have used one to successfully use my 1980s NEC AT keyboard (with a generic AT to PS/2 adaptor) working on my Mac.

If that combination works, I guess almost anything else would.
