Mouse Mod
« on: Tue, 18 June 2013, 11:28:59 »
Hey guys, just a quick show off thread detailing my ulti-mouse build, as with keyboards mice are serious personal choice and I really do like my SteelSeries Kinzu v2 the size is great, good lazer and doesn't have millions of daft extra buttons.

Current Status: Tear Down

So without further ado

Original Mouse

Tear Down

Further Break Down
More

What I'm going to do here is paint the orange part

More

I'm having Pexon re-sleeve this cable as I don't like the texture of it, or replace it or whatever etc. etc. etc.

Also check out my screw storage, I just found it and its super cool!
More

What's happening next:
Paint top case
Change cable as I don't like the material used
Replace feet with thicker replacement versions

Any other improvements? I'm sure I had a bigger list but my memory is failing me

Watch that screw storage, if you bump it, the glass acts as a catapult for whatever is inside.

What the hell is wrong with safety orange!?! I saw that earlier in the what you got today thread, and I was thinking to myself, self that is a damn nice color. Put than on the list for replacement backup mouse to replace the Logitech B100 (don't laugh at me! I did improve it with Omron D2F-01F).

It is a nice colour, but I already had the Yellow version and didnt want to get 2 of the same, although in retro-spect I think the yellow would have been easier to dip.

Between this and some of the MX mouse mods I've seen, I'm considering screwing around with my MS Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1A.  At the same time, it's such an awesome mouse that I'd feel bad doing it.

Looking forward to see where your mouse modding leads.

Imho not really, mainly because of the sensor, rather low max speed and inaccurate at higher CPI, TTC switches aren't that great either.

@Tym

Swap the TTC switches for some omron ones.

I don't really remember how well it actually works but you could change the sensor lens to the one from the Kana. :D

I like it, very much so. The laser I don't have problems with apart from it wont work with my mousepad so I had to go find a cloth one. And if DPI is too low it has a button on it which beef's it up impressively. Although I was considering removing this button as I don't need it.

Actually waiting on things to do other things which means other things will happen when stuff is shipped and other things can be shipped out which in turn allows things to be shipped back to me. I think you'll be pleased.

I was never going to mount switches :3

I sent the cover off to be painted a while back, unfortunatly it got snapped in transit, so I'm just waiting for it too be repaired.
