Surprised that there's been no speculation on who he is.
Thats because we all know who he is? No one told you?

You traded Raindrop for a Julysicle didn't you? I think that's more than $24. Don't tell half truths to make yourself look better.

just seeing this now,  'don't tell half truths to make yourself look better',
I got my 3 months use out of raindrop, i enjoyed it, but my interests changed and i no longer needed/wanted it. I paid about $74 for raindrop, but got my use out of it and traded it for a clack, so yes, i have only paid for $24 for a clack, and i will stick by that statement. just because i didn't shell out $74 on a clack doesnt mean i paid $74..i don't consider it that..

and it's not like i bought raindrop just to trade for that julysicle, i bought it, used it, and then traded it once my interests had changed.

You could probably work out how much that actually is, and I wouldn't be surprised if they trade for more than their weight in gold.

No.. His point is :
-He paid $74 for raindrop
-He, after months of using the raindrop, traded it for a clack. Therefore :
-Raindrop($74) = clack -> incorrect
-Raindrop($74) = clack + months of being able to use raindrop -> correct

I have not seen a single set of caps sell for that cheap, even after months of use. Therefore, it's incorrect.

We all know that if he had placed the set up for sale, he would have asked for more than $24.
Maybe those months of use were worth $50 to him. Idk

I'm not trying to say i didn't trade something of higher value then retail for a clack, that's obvious

I just didn't shovel out $74 for a clack directly, i traded it after i got my use out of it, and i'm not trying to say i broke even, i'm still down $74 for it all

Well, I have never paid more than $1 (USD) for a Clack.  I did spend $199 on shipping and handling though, but that was only one time, and that Clack was coming all the way from Connecticut, which is like the next state over from New York, so it was totally reasonable.

One question, whose **** gets hard over $74?  I don't know anybody.  Now $80, that's a different story.  I sprout serious wood for $80.  Around $88, well, let's just say you might need to put on some goggles.

You paid ONE WHOLE DOLLAR!? You should be ashamed... I get all of mine for free. I mean, I traded money for them, but I had that money in my wallet, thus had gotten use out of it, so it wasn't worth anything anymore.

Well, I paid that $1 by PayPal, so technically I never actually had any $1 money.  The so-called $1 money went from my cyberspace bank into cyberspace PayPal, and then it went wherever money goes over the internet.  So I didn't really use any actual $1 money per se.  Plus $1 money in a checking account is really not money since it's about to be spent anyway, and has no money-like qualities.  You can't crinkle it or smell it or make it rain a $1 dollar bill.

Ask and ye shall recieve.

So... I think it obvious that NO ONE would actually pay the inflated prices for CCs. CC most likely has 4 or 5 accounts and multiple proxies so that the mods don't notice them.

I see them as art that is collected and gains value over time, as all things that are collected do.

the part of this topic that catches my eye is that cc could have them mass produced and flood the market. But if he was to mass produce them they would not be of the same quality/materials.

It is like the old transformers used to be made from metal and they are all plastic now.

Moose is rambled at the fact that dubs is claim to have never spent more than $24 on a julysicle, which is clearly wrong. He spent $74 on a set and traded it for a julysicle, make the julysicle "bought" for $74 and making the statment "I've never paid more than $24 for a clack" a lie

Moose doesn't like liars

haven't bought a clack for more then $24, still

oh no! would suck to have moose not like me...

and god forbid you don't like me either  :)) :))

1600th, shout out to the_beast

The point they're trying to make that it feels like you're purposefully dodging is those keys you traded still had value even though you were bored with them.  Enough so that you could trade them for a julysicle.

Or are you going to claim you can buy a replacement raindrop set for less than $24 now?

I don't get it.

Dubs gets a Raindrop set for $74, most likely not knowing that he would ever trade it for a clack.

Uses it for a while.

Enjoys using it.

Finally, trades it for a clack.

HE PAID $74 FOR A CLACK!

i've clarified a page ago, but i'll say it again
I haven't directly bought a clack for more then $24, still havent and wont (for more then retail)
i've traded something of $74 in value, after i got my use out of it, so yes, i am down $74 still, and "technically" "paid" $74 for the clack
but still, as sane logic goes, i haven't bought a clack for more then $24, i didn't go to the classifieds and say "buying julysicles, name your price"
if you want to be an aspie and say 'OUEUEE YOU'VE BOUGHT ONE FOR $74 OOOHHH LIAR!' then go ahead and i will laugh at you  :))

Well then, the money I spent on my Vader, I got my use out if it and I got it for free!

What is the purpose of arguing about intrinsic value of keycaps?  They are clearly valued differently by different people, and the difference is going to be very subjective and vary based on current conditions.  If two parties wanted to trade a keycap set for one rare cap and were both content with the outcome--what's the problem?  I bet that Raindrop set could go for a lot of money now as well, as it's so rare.  Clacks get sold for $200+ periodically--there was an auction that just ended where many went for quite a lot of money, and it was okay.  Yet sometimes it's not okay...  If something is very desirable and is in low supply--it becomes expensive.  I understand that you might feel that the manufacturer of those caps is not getting that money, but that could be extrapolated to many things.

There's so much arguing about semantics, but the big picture is going to remain the same.
