My current 2 Topre boards.
Looking proper. Though, come to think of it, I never see the black keycaps in the white cases. Could look cool!
How does one become so interested in a thing like keyboards? When you realize you use a keyboard more than any other tool in your life.

My current 2 Topre boards.

That's so sweet - they have matching Esc and Control :)

Best solution: buy a carrying case and take it to and from work. Your HHKB wants to be used.

Been using my white HHKB that I got a couple of weeks ago lately (I already have a black one).

The thing is that the spacebar makes some nasty spring noise every few presses that I can't seem to make go away. I'm not really sure what to do about it.

At least the G, H, T keys don't make such an obnoxious *CLACK* like my black HHKB, although the two keyboards sound different overall.

All my black-keyed Topre boards have a higher pitch upstroke than the white-keyed counterparts.

Man after getting a stock black HHKB, I got curious and wanted to try the Type-S as I was somehow annoyed by the upstroke clack of the board so I also went a head with the Type-S. Don't know why but the first thing I did was to swap up their sliders so I have a black Type-S and my white HHKB has the stock sliders.

The thing right now is I can't decide which one I want to keep, at first I got annoyed with the clacks and liked the Type-S for the silent thocky sound, going back to the stock HHKB right now the Type-S feels "dead" because of the lack of upstroke clack and comparing those two the HHKB is much more enjoyable to type on since it makes so much more plastic clack sounds. I don't know whether I should sell my Type-S or just keep it in case my opinion of the stock HHKB changes again.

Keep both so you can enjoy the different sound they make. I have all variation of 45g and 55g Topre cause I can't decide as well :D

This is something I have been debating for awhile. I don't have either board at the moment, and I'm leaning toward the stock board as I'm used to the higher volume of buckling springs.

What are you thoughts on the feel of the two boards? Does the type-S feel much different than the stock HHKB or is the sound the only change?

This may be the fastest HHKB2 in existence.  I'm currently top 10 active in the world and race against the top guys daily but haven't run into any Pro users in that club.  Just got the FN and ESC keys in.  Don't be bashful ;).

I got 99 problems, but a board ain't one.

In terms of feel wise it shouldn't have any difference since the base of the slider of the Type-S is shaved off a lil bit to make space for the plastic/rubber landing pad which means there's no reduction in key travel. However with my usage I feel like the HHKB Type-S does feel less tactile, or just FEELS different. After trying them both having headphones on I really couldn't tell the difference and the only difference is indeed the sound.

Recently received my second HHKB Pro 2 (this time a black one, with blank keys). I also have a PFU carry bag for each of the boards, PFU spare Ctrl + Esc keys in red/blue.

I can't decide whether I like the black HHKB Pro 2 more than the Type-S. When I'm at work I really enjoy just the thock of the Type-S. At first I had to get used to the black board at home, but I think it's starting to grow on me.

I must admit I maybe went a bit overboard with two such expensive keyboards over the course of a little less than two months (kickstarted when I saw a video of George Hotz' talking about his self-driving car in December).

Haha. The only reason I have two is because I bought one, fell in love and sold all of my MX and Alps boards and bought a second.

Not sure about this, but at least it's a black and white design :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Went from being iffy about the HHKB layout....
To liking it a bit more swapping it out with my RF87U on occasion
To preferring it outright over my RF 87U
To selling my RF 87U
To now looking at buying a SECOND HHKB

Yep....the hype is real and it's taken hold of me.

This feels so blasphemous, but so right at the same time. Guess I need another that's unsilenced?

Just got my very first topre in the form of this HHKB Pro 2. I bought this one used from a redditor who swapped out the caps from a black pro 1 onto this board.

I'm definitely having some trouble adjusting to the layout but already liking the feel. Seller did mention that this was an almost new board and feels a bit "mushier" than his old pro 1 which feels crisp.

Does anyone else feel that way? I'm wondering how the springs will change over time if at all.

in my opinion , ì you want to have a silence keyboard you should just comeback to cherryMX or using Purple Topre (HHkb TYpe-s), Happy Hacking Keyboard is really loundly when you typing on its and that not an weak point with me, i'm using it now, lubing may reduce the sound but not much (quite a bit, and much smoother), and now i'm waiting for the HHKB Type-s to come to me.

It's no so much the springs that will change, but the rubber in the domes might harden.  However the degree to which they may harden varies considerably.  Most people report little or no change in feel over several years.  However someone recently reported a few years old HHKB that felt significantly different to their other HHKB.

Exactly. My first black HHKB was already stiff when I got it unwrapped. I was like "Topre buttersmooth? Nahh.. overrated".

But then I got my WHITE HHKB and my 87UB 55g and those ARE buttersmooth.

Well, I spent the weekend adjusting to the HHKB layout and now that I'm at work on my MX Blacks and I find myself typing "\" instead of "backspace" and I'm not enjoying the feel of the stiff linear as much...

I'm still having trouble adjusting to the control being where the caps was as well as the FN key as the smallest I have had was a TKL until the Pro 2.

I hope this HHKB doesn't ruin my love for other MX switches as I still have so much to try.
