Leaky faucet. Part is under warranty but I'll have to wait till tomorrow to be able to call in and get the part sent out. The only other option is to try to track one down and pay ~$40 for a new hose.

I have been hesitant to post about this but I bought a sleeve from somebody for a 60% board and man it is way too big

Like long enough to hold a TKL but wide enough for a 60% board.

Also the cord is basically ROPE (think like almost 1cm in diameter)

I haven't called them out on it in private or in public but I'm thinking of asking for a refund as I don't think the person in question actually has the skill or material to make sleeves

I started setting up a new server at home back in September last year.

With severely limited time I have left it turned off since then until today, when I had set aside some time to work on it.

Now I cannot remember the root password :(

My other servers have been Ubuntu, and I login as myself and sudo - no root password required.

This server is CentOS - login directly as root (if I could remember the password).  I have no established pattern for this password, and no idea what I would have chosen.

Edit 1: Ha!  Fixed it!/

Code: [Select]
[rowdy@localhost ~]$ su -
Password:
Last login: Wed Sep 30 20:59:59 AEST 2015 on tty1
Last failed login: Mon Jan 11 13:14:07 AEDT 2016 on pts/0
There were 22 failed login attempts since the last successful login.

Edit 2: Ha!  Broken again!

I installed the 455 or so updates that have accumulated, rebooted, and now it's not responding to pings and I cannot login.

Looks like I'll have to connect a monitor (and keyboard) to it to see what's happening.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Today I was carrying my 4 yo into school and I tripped and fell over a toy. I landed on a cast iron radiator. I felt like a moron so I brushed it off (kid was okay too). But now...EVERYTHING HURTS.  :'(

But that aside, I'm actually in a pretty good mood. So take that universe! You can't hold me down today!

More like a minor irritation than full out bothering me:

Everything but my Chemex has shipped. Even though they were listed as in stock. New grinder, filters, etc, all arrived/arriving today, but the Chemex isn't supposed to ship until next week.

You could potentially have special powers, much like the plot from the hit 2004 thriller: The Butterfly Effect

Thanks. I had two headaches yesterday in the same spot, so I knew I had a good chance of getting a migraine. Now I have the faintest of pain lingering in the same spot. Feels like a rebound headache.

Real estate agent is being a prick

FRONT PAGE NEWS !
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

****ty, you know what the problem is?

Turns out my oil filter was loose, even though it was new on in September. Ended up dropping about five litres of oil on the car park outside my work. I drove it to and from McDonalds and I may have done permanent damage, but at the moment it sounds and drives fine. I may have just saved it by not driving it too far, but I've got to keep on top of the oil for the next week or so, make sure I've not ****ed it.

Not much, feeling pretty good! :33 Just wondering if I should liquidate my collection or not. I feel bad not using some of my boards. I'm also trying to cool it on the scene this year. I'm very happy with so much in the community right now, so I feel pretty accomplished. Just want to get the Octagon v2 and a carbon fiber case for my other Eagle Alps hotswap build, aaaand lastly convert my Lightpad to Alps.

That's it, but they will be expensive investments in the end, so I guess I'm running the final personal gauntlet before I can really cool it. :C

Fire alarm going off at 4:40 this morning. Took almost ten minutes for the fire department to get there, and another 5 for the alarm to be shut off. So I took a walk around the building in the fresh snow (still snowing).
