Cherry is not better at all, it's just different. Just like a 5' chair vs. a 3' chair, people will find their preferences. Someone not liking the feel =/= it being worse.
Also, looking at it from a marketer's perspective, something with tall, very obviously sculptured keycaps (just look at an OEM profile board from the side) is much more attractive than something that's hardly noticeable and shallow. As James of Corsair said, our market is just a tiny fraction, and even some of us (including myself) prefer OEM to Cherry). If you drop something like $150 on a keyboard, expect it to be pretty flashy. None of the $80 gaming mice look anything like old fashioned, because nobody would buy it.
I admit it myself, but for a long time now people have preferred something looking new to something old, which is why we have fashion. Someone discovers something that looks better to lots of people, and it becomes custom. That's why I personally shy away from Logitech mice, because I love the joy that comes with loving what you see on your desk. Something beautiful, aesthetically pleasing. Just like buying art, so too does the design of even functional equipment influence you. Just consider why lots of us buy CC or other colored keycaps; they might be the exact same material (or for ABS DS considered worse), but because it looks so good, people are willing to brush off the fact that it's unnecessary and not really any better.
Therefore, I will freely say that I like OEM because it looks (as well as having a great sculpture) more modern and certainly stands out more. If I had to give an example of something that I really hate for looks, it's probably SP's DSA, because I really dislike the look of bland font on normally 'sexy' spherical caps, and DCS, because it's just a crappy imitation of Cherry. In my opinion, I prefer OEM because of its sculpture, then Cherry, and then everything else.
