Guys, CPTBadAss PMed me about this thread and reminded me of some important info. I contacted Kbd4u / Duck a while back when I was looking for ALPS boards, and was told that this stash of Kingsavers and Duck Mini V2s all have flaws/defects of some sort. (I am assuming it's the same stash, if not, then disregard all of this.)

From Kbd4u:

Quote
Hi!

The reason i don't sell in foreign counties is that all of left Kingsavers have defects.

Please understand it.

Thanks!

From Duck himself, re: V2s:

Quote
I am sorry but i only sell it in bulk. You need to buy at least 10set.

Since, they have some defects if you buy it, i will give you pretty good discount.

ALSO, Duck stopped replying to my emails as soon as I asked for photos/info about the defects.

So... some further investigation is needed before we start buying up these units.

I'd still be interested unless they're major defects that impact usability and as long as that discount carries over and only a reasonable GB or facilitator fee was tacked on with full transparency on prices and fees.

I don't know the costs yet. Pretty sure they have minor defects such as tiny scratches on the corner or something.

By saying "scrathes on the corner", do you mean it's dented or just scrathes?
I have no idea about the Kingsavers' defects, but according to this Duck's post: http://duck0113.tistory.com/m/post/89, it seems like the only defect on left duck mini v2 is scrathes and they are re-anodized.
I hope there is no bent or dent on the housing as well as the raiser. :(

Does anyone have any idea where one might be able to purchase a keyset with classic beige and blue text like the one on the eagle in on the duck website?  I've looked around and the only thing I could find was the keyset offered through Originative, but it doesn't have the standard ANSI bottom row.

http://www.originativeco.com/collections/keysets/products/bsp-classic-beige

Closest I could find is what feng is selling:

You'd need to buy two keysets to get both shades of grey, and the blue legends might differ slightly between both sets. Also it's more of a light grey than beige, although it seems quite similar to what you're looking for.

Just get an Eagle or Viper in a winkeyless configuration, problem solved  :) and is so much classier...

Right, I think I will just get the winkeyless viper and the beige bsp keyset from originative but it doesn't come with a 7x space bar which will be difficult to match color wise. I might just end up getting an aluminum 7x spacebar. Oh also I did manage to find this on taobao but I can't really tell if they even have any available with the blue font. The options seem to indicate it is green and there is no mention of whether the keycaps are thick so I assume they must not be.

Oh, nice.  I didn't even see that at first.  Thanks, I messaged him.  It says on taobao that there are 6 in stock, so maybe that's why he doesn't have them on his website.  I've seen his listed beige set, but it only has Desko or Rusian options which I'm not particularly interested in.

But I just see other people calling it the light pad.

Just to be clear, I think it's this? Cause this is what I want LOL

EDIT:  think the thread is here for the butterfly pad http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=53112.0

Says that it's $145 for a set. I got to think really hard about this now!

Regarding the Duck Eagle/Viper group buy:

1. Are the LEDs soldered on the PCB surface mount or through-hole?
2. Do LEDs come presoldered on the PCB?
3. Does the Viper support full LEDs?
4. Someone mentioned the stabs for Korean boards are usually PCB mount - Is that true for the Eagle/Viper boards (PCB or Plate mount stabs)?
5. Does anyone know if the mount holes in the case are compatible with other 60% PCBs like the GH60, FaceW, etc?

It says the buy comes with a populated PCB which seems to indicate most things possibly with the exception of LEDs are present. I doubt the stabilizers will be included since they aren't listed and they differ if someone wants a 7x space bar versus a 6.25.

Based on my knowledge,

1. The side LED on the bottom of the PCB is surface mount. The others are through holes.
2. The bottom LEDs are presoldered. The others are not.
3. Most certainly yes. Can't see a reason why it's not. It should be the same PCB as Eagle, with corners cut off.
4. I'm 99% sure it's PCB mounted.

This group buy is supposed to start after the Lightsaver one wraps up. IIRC, from the Lightsaver thread, shipping will occur by 3rd or 4th week of June, so this will probably start sometime in July, conclude in August, production in fall and hopefully ship by the end of the year?

Very rough estimates, and no credible sources either. You're welcome :p

yeah, 75% is close to my ideal layout (which is 60%+ function row). though from what i've seen, there are not as many choices for 75% boards. off the top of my head, i can only think of two: Gon's and Lifezone's. and neither of them have good-looking LEDs like Duck's keyboards do.

offtopic question: correct me if i'm wrong, but backlighting is reliant on both the PCB and the quality of LEDs used right?

GON's LEDs look pretty nice too IMO! can't speak for Lifezone, but GON has the cool side LED effect going on and increase in side LED as typing intensity increases and some other features too. Obviously, purely opinion based.

Plate plays a big role. Duck's boards, with steel plate, is ideal for backlighting cuz it's very reflective. Silver anodized aluminum plate is good too, but not as good as steel plate. Others are worse.

it does, but the GON MX-MINI uses an older PCB that doesn't support both side and in-switch LEDs (i asked and he said he won't be releasing the NerD PCB for that layout)

Anyone else get a notification about Duck's keyboard inventory that goes nowhere?

Awesome.  I was thinking about giving soldering my own board a go just today, and the KMACs are so expensive.  This seems like a good place to start.  Submitted for Eagle, but I'd buy a Viper if only one of them was going through.

Is it possible to just buy the aluminum case for the Eagle? If so how much will it cost?
