I just bought one of these sets and this will be my first custom keyboard build. I joined the Zelios switch group buy, but am unsure of what else I need to purchase for this keyboard. Is anyone able to give me a list of what parts I should buy and maybe a good tutorial of how to put this thing together? Is there any software I need to test/update the LED lighting/firmware/key layout with it?
Thanks all for any help
Steezus built mine a little while back (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=78605.0)...
You will need:
- 100 1.8mm LED's (you will have some left overs, remember there are 8 extra LED's for the indicators).
- Stabilizers
I think that's it...
Thanks, I reached out to him for a buying list he will need. Did you require anything on your computers to adjust the lights/colors or change the keymap?
From a hardware perspective, that's it... for software
You download the O2D software. Here are some instructions I made for myself for the Lightsaver, the Orion uses the same software:
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=40501.13515;wap2https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=51252.8501. Change computer to Korea. Not the language but the PC itself. See sifo message.
1. Download the 02D Keymapper software
2. change your system locale to Korean (Control Panel -> Region and Language -> Administrative tab -> Language for non-Unicode Programs -> Change system locale). You need to do this so that you have arrow keys show in your software.
3. set everything up and save to a hex file, you will need to create a blank .hex file first, save it in the same folder wwhere your 02D program exe lives.
4. Now you want to program your board, so download and install ATMEL Flip
5. to put the Lightsaver into programmable mode, unplug the board, then press and hold the top right key to the backspace as you plug it back in.
5.a If you have not done this before, your PC will not recognize it, you should use the driver from the usb folder in the FLIP install location (eg: C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Flip 3.4.7\usb), this will allow FLIP to recognize the programmable usb device (as you have now switched the board to programmable mode).
6. choose ATmega32U3 as the device.
7. Choose USB as the communication method.
8. Load the hex file.
8. Run.
