32 plates, 18 to go!

Please share this with your friends, and/or add another plate.

For sure it's not as nice and tidy as Amazon. It sometimes even feels a little sketchy, but so far I have not yet been burned. You'll have an opportunity to add notes to your order, be as specific as possible and don't hesitate to message the seller directly before, or after to make sure they got and understand your order. Pay with a credit card or something that offers a bit of protection. Also remember to be patient, these things are shipping super slow from China.

Well after several hours and several different email address I can't seem to get a verification email from AliExpress so might have to try and find a different clear case.

I used gmail. No problem receiving their signup or other messages. I think it may just take a while.

I have never build a keyboard before and I have som noob questions.

Will plate mount switches work? I have a keyboard that I want to use the switches from.

Are resistors compatible with white LEDs already soldered?

If I want springs that are a little bit harder than stock Cherry MX Brown which should I order?

Thanks in advance!

You should get PCB mounted switches. That way, the switches clip into the PCB.
Resistors are already soldered and combatible with the LEDs.

You could try something like a 62g spring if you want a little weight increase.

I'm using plate mounted Cherry stabs with your V1 plate, works just fine.

What material is the plate made out of? Do you have any sample images to show the plate colours?

Plate mount switches will work with the PCB and plate being offered here. PLATE MOUNT STABILIZERS WILL NOT. PCB mount stabilizers are REQUIRED for use with this plate design.

In order to mount the switches correctly in the large openings in the plate designed for multiple layout support, PCB mount switches are RECOMMENDED. Not required, but recommended, for added stability.

What material is the plate made out of? Do you have any sample images to show the plate colours?

I assume since it is being anodized it's either 5052 or 6061 aluminum.

You're absolutely right, I guess I was just a little anxious and impatient. After about 13 hours I received the verification email.  :thumb: Hopefully I can get one of those clear cases.

41 plates! We are really close to 50 plates. Thanks for all your orders.

The money left over in the GB will be used for further improvments in the next rounds.

70 is the final goal for the plates, but i might be very optimistic. 41, is still much.

Yes, you can change the colors after i get the samples, but please note that i only get "dark red" and "blue" samples.

Have a nice day! :)

10$ for 1 plate + 1 PCB :)

+3$ if you add up to 3 accessories.

Neat! Do you by any chance have switches too? Also when does this group buy end? I might jump onto the bandwagon if you're still selling in a couple of weeks :)

A little under two weeks until it closes.

I do not have any switches. Anyway, they would cost a fortune to ship from here.

Wow, props to you! In my experience the rates to Japan are often much higher.

Production time is 2 weeks so the 3 weeks until shipping is very optimistic, but maybe not as realistic. I'll try my best though. Keep in mind there are parts and PCBs involved too!

I'd say 7bit over at deskthority is a great source: http://deskthority.net/group-buys-f50/cherry-mx-taking-pre-orders-t2760.html
Or here in the classifieds. And welcome out into the light ;)

Thanks, that seems like a really good option! :)

I'm fairly new to this as well, just finished building on a GON 60% PCB (which is similar to this one), and I ended up ordering my switches from mechanicalkeyboards.com. I like MX Green switches, and they were one of the few places I could find them in stock at the time. I also really liked the orange aluminum TEX case they had....

Yeah, I checked MK.com before, but being US-based is a pain with customs :( too bad, because I also love their TEX cases.

Also, probably a silly question, what kind of screws will I need to assemble this plate and pcb on a case? Are they included?

Any updates on the deadline? And when will the invoicing be done? I'd really like to join, but I have to check my economy :)

Is it possible to run TMK-firmware on these boards? (not a deal breaker, but I use it for everything else)

10 days :)
Would payment by the 25'th (of August) be fine? Thats when I get my salary (if so, I'm in for one or two plates, maybe a PCB :D)

The red looks really nice! Well, as far as you can see it.

I just ordered but I think I'd like to change to a red plate!

If you can't get the color right you could try to adjust it in photoshop or something.

In my experience Poker cases use  M2x5 screws. This must not be the right size for this specific case, but chances are pretty high.

Case screws are almost always M2 with 0.4mm pitch. I use 4mm long screws for mine, but most cases support up to 5mm.

Some quick questions:
Is the pcb and plate are compatible with poker cases?
Does the pcb support gateron switchs ?
Is the controller built it when it is shipped or do we need to solder it?
What type of solder is recommend?
Are the stabilizers cherry stabilizers?
Is it really $4 for 100 LEDs?
Just to clarify the plate supports both standard ANSI and standard ISO?

Sorry if some of these questions are silly or the answers are in the first post, this is my first time purchasing from geekhack and my first build.

Yes they are compatible with the Poker cases.

The PCB and plate support Gaterons switches, Cherry MX switches and all the other clones.

The PCB is plug and play, no controller or firmware required.

For soldering the switches, almost all solder should work, people may recommend something for you.

The stabilisers are PCB mounted stabilisers which mounts on the PCB.

4$ for 100 LEDs is correct :)

It supports ANSI and ISO.

Thanks for the switch reply, are pcb stabilizers different to cherry ones? Does this mean that i need two types of stabilizers?

No, the PCB mounted replace the standard plate mounted ones.

You only need PCB mounted stabilisers.

There are 3 types of stabilizers generally available for MX switches -- Costar (plate mount), and Cherry (PCB mount or plate mount). The only type which mount to the PCB are Cherry, so indeed, these are Cherry PCB mount stabilizers.

There is also a new player in the stabilizer game, Matias, whose stabilizers work with both MX and Alps switches. But those are plate mount only, and require a different type of hole in the mounting plate than either Costar or Cherry. Best not to worry about those yet. :)

Some quick questions:
Is the pcb and plate are compatible with poker cases?
Does the pcb support gateron switchs ?
Is the controller built it when it is shipped or do we need to solder it?
What type of solder is recommend?

So I should purchase the stabilizer accessory as I don't have any other stabilizers?

I think so, but I will verify for you. It should support almost anything.

Yes, both 1.25-1.25-1.25-6.25-1.5-1-1-1.5 and 1.5-1-1.5-6-1.5-1-1-1.5 layouts are supported by the PLATE.
