Welcome back!

I hope you had a good time, and that you and your family are in good health :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That's always the problem with putting dates on things when you don't know exactly if it's going to happen. I'm sure Bunny will update us when he knows more like he said after he came back from his trip.

so bunnys response means that we are still on track? ship date was a few days ago, so bunny should have all the sets soon enough?

Yeah I haven't spoken to jtk properly since I got back, we spoke briefly and he said he was very close and will get back to me soon, I haven't been around the last few days, the wife has gone back to work which makes me a full time dad now, and an 8 month old on your own for between 12 and 24 hours a day is a bit of an adjustment so I haven't really been available to be reached the last few days, this weekend I'll catch up with him properly, what I do know is they haven't left him yet but things were exceptionally close to being wrapped up, there were just some row 2 keys being rerun under quality control, sliders are currently being sorted whilst that happens

You seem to mistake and organiser with the duties of the manufacturer

I put up an offering, collected funds, paid the manufacturer in a timely manner, remained in constant communication with the manufacturer and updated the buyers as often as updates were made available to me

Reasons for delays have been posted clearly and reasonably and from the start it has been made clear jtk is a new manufacturer that is a work in progress, based on feed back of the last buy it was important to jtk to not get it wrong this time, so the set was remodeled from the ground up

That being said, there is zero I can do my end, it's no different than you blaming me for delays with signature plastics, thatbhas nothing to do with the organiser

Please kindly take your **** talking elsewhere

"not to get it wrong this time" implies that they got it wrong last time.  The only fault I could find in my debut set was that the, er, right Shift I think it was the stabiliser inserts would not go all the way into the keycap.  A small piece of plastic bag over the stem before insert solved that one easily.

For a debut set, that was bloody fantastic!

That they go to the lengths they are to make the next set even better shows real commitment to the buyers, and I think that's great! :)

Whilst debut was largely functional, we ended up with lots of little issues that needed to be addressed in a major way, things that only crop up one in every few hundred users as an issue sometimes and take a while to find, these include but aren't limited to

- there were some issues with the underside of the cap, which led to some conflicts with certain sized LEDs, whilst this only affected row 2 keys, we could just change the underside profile of one cap, they need to be uniform to feel and sound correct, so the underside of every single cap has been changed, this means altering literally every mould, it's also a trial and error process to get it exactly right, it requires lots of testing

- ensuring compatibility with sliders for topre users, while this won't affect many in this buy, the sliders and jtk keysets are designed to work together so this required testing and alterations to both products to ensure perfect compatibility and uniform feeling for all users

- the big one people had issues with in debut were the legends, these have been tackled across the board, because the moulds use aren't for individual keys, but for blocks of keys every time you tweak one legend, in can have a knock on effect to others in that block, as a result this is also a long and slow process to get right, it's a fine balancing act that will be fine tuned across several buys but users will see drastic improvements in each

All of these things above also affect each other, you can get one part correct, change something in a different step and all of a sudden the part we had locked in is altered, we want to put out the very best product we can, as when this is locked in and correct, turn around for these buys will be a matter of weeks, the actual time to produce the keys is very small, but we have produced many many keys to get it right

Thank you to the people who support this buy, this is a new manufacturer and it's a huge undertaking, none of us knew this process would take this long, but the product needs to be right, we could have rushed out what would have been debut in new colours, and some would be happy, but the quest here has always been to produce something that can compete in quality with the very best, for a much more attractive price, who these sets will be compared to are very large companies with huge finances and experience behind them with some amazing equipment

Sit tight, we are at the final stretch, and I can't wait to get these out to you guys and then start work on the next iteration

There is an end goal here, and we will get there

Since BunnyLake will be MIA for a few weeks, is there any chance that Tym or anyone else affiliated with the GB will be able to provide pictures of the sets? I would like to see the black/pink set if at all possible. If not, I can wait patiently. Thank you!

well the sets have been sent to me, if they arrive before i go il lpost pics, if not then ill post on my return, if i am sent any pics direct form the factory ill either post them or forward them to tym to post

So, are we going to get these pictures by any chance? I don't mind the delays in production but it sounds like there are at least some pictures that could be posted. That might help ease some users' minds.

Thank you for all your hard work with this set. To maybe offset the cost of development, perhaps you guys should consider selling "grab (crap) bags" haha. I'm sure a lot of us wouldn't mind getting sets that aren't "perfect" but we can use for other things. Plus, grab bags are fun!

I'm just sitting here trying to be patient; this is literally all I am waiting for to finish my kb build. Leandren R4 + this is gonna be so sweet. until then the leandren build is just collecting dust :<

Patience will serve you well.  Your Leandren is not going anywhere :)

Has there been any update on when we can expect them to be shipped? Or is everything up in the air now?

Thanks

Thanks

I'm told by the manufacturer that during manufacture they found they had to redo the model on row 2 again, that has now been finished and they are being run off currently so nearly complete

Shipped to people in the group buy or shipped to you? I presume the latter.

Is this now finally definite? Because this was 5 months ago.
Quote
with regards to people with orders in this buy, we are nearly there,

Oh and can we finally get some more pictures? If I'm not mistaken it has been 5 months since those were promised as well. In this day and age I highly doubt that JTK doesn't hae a smartphone to take a fast pic.
