That fact doesn't change or effect anything about, and neither is in any way logically related to what I have written.

As a high school economics and history teacher, I wish you the best of luck. You probably already know this, but between now and tomorrow...

- Eat some good, healthy meals.
- Get lots of rest. I know, its hard, but try. A very dark room without blue lights in particular can be helpful in getting to sleep (cover those LEDs). To give an example of how times have changed, when I was in high school prepping for the AP US History test, our teacher recommended a glass of wine to help us sleep. I was 16. Nowadays, that would get that teacher arrested! Instead, maybe try warm milk or something else your parents approve of if getting to sleep is a problem.
- Lay out your clothes and goodies tonight so you aren't rushing around tomorrow. That includes a sack lunch.
- Arrive to school early so you aren't stressed rushing around at the last minute.
- Pray. It can't hurt!
- Finally, have a good time. Seriously. I tell my students that tests are chances to show what you know. Use this as a chance to really show off what you've learned.

Best of luck!  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Just had my physics I AP test yesterday. First AP test I've taken, was much easier than expected.

Only thing that sucks is we started two hours late so the test didn't finish until around 5

And as an university math professor, I'll let you know that you're ****ed either way, and that if you plan to study math, engineering, or physics we will make you take the courses again anyway because no score on the AP exam actually covers everything we think we cover in a university class.  If you're not planning on math, engineering, or physics it doesn't matter because you will never need anything you learn from a calculus class beyond the general problem solving skills that any math class would teach you.

But enough with the jaded bull****... You'll probably be fine. It's not actually as difficult of a test as some make it out to be and it's normed, so if it happens to be a difficult year (some years the test is objectively more challenging than others) that's adjusted in scoring. Since the college board is still clinging to classical test theory scoring, instead of better methods like item response theory, you still have the ability to maximize your score through good strategy.

The most important piece of advice tho: even as soon as a year from now no one will give a **** how you did on this test. AP test and HS grades seem like everything now and honestly, no one cares in the real world.

AP Calc is ez pz

Source: me and my 5

And yeah it doesn't matter at all once you get into a college you want. If you've taken AP Calc in HS, there's no point in taking further math courses unless you're going to major in it, in which case, may god have mercy on your soul.

The APUSH test felt super hard last year, but I somehow got a 5  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All those practice DBQs paid off I guess.

History is rote memorization. Calculus is more application of concepts.

I hated all the AP history exams. Nasty business, all of it. -_-

I loved them. They were great experiences. I got a 5 on AP US, and 4s on AP Euro and Art History. This was back in the 80s when things were harder. Yes, people will argue that but the test has been dumbed down in the interim. If you were to compare a test from back then with the grading standards of the day, there is no comparison.

I did hate my AP English test. This was when AP English was the only AP test in that subject - no Lit or anything else, so it covered everything. I thought that maybe I could get a 3 on a good day. My teacher, Mr. Richard Victor, of whom we said could teach a doorknob to write, looked at me and said that on any day I could do a great deal better. I did. His confidence in me really meant a lot. I still owe a debt to that man. I'm not sure if he ever realized how much good he did, and how much he taught us about things other than pure English.

History is rote memorization.

Hmmm. I could really argue this!

Ah yes, now begins the part of the thread where everyone shows their "5" and wants everyone else to recognize how smart they are. Bring up any normed academic assessment and it always happens. Next will be the rush of people who think they are special because the did so well on said test with little preparation and bad grades.

History is rote memorization.

Hmmm. I could really argue this!

And you would be able to argue forever and never come to an agreement. So the math prof thing is my part-time job (adjunct), and my day job is in K-12 administration. If you have been paying attention to the whole academic standards overhaul in recent years you might have noticed something conspicuous. Common Core State Standards were in English Language Arts and Mathematics. The Next Generation Science Standards are covering that area. How about new social science standards? Not going to happen. In no small part due to the inability to come to consensus on what they should include. Do they need to be listed as the knowledge and skills required to practice the social sciences, like reasoning, research, and communication skills? Or do they need to be set up around the eras and places that an individual needs to understand facts about in order to accurately use those skills? What is the right combination of the two? In the end, there has been so little agreement that no one is even attempting to write new standards in the area. The ESEA (the real name for what was no child left behind, is now called every child succeeds) requires assessments in math, ela, and science, but not social science.

Note that social science isn't alone here. The development of the NGSS was led by science education leadership groups and the NSF, and the core idea was that the body of scientific understanding changes, and that understanding how to think like a scientist and "do" science is the most important thing. The American chemical society and other professional science orgs have since come out with concerns about the NGSS due to not having enough focus on established scientific facts and knowledge. And so it continues.
