[IC] Artisan Case - ‘Snaccbox’
« on: Fri, 14 December 2018, 15:44:50 »
Good day! Happy to share this with you all, prototype is now complete! This will be my second artisan case group-buy, this time for the Biccboi Snaccbox, for all your snacc storage woes. Please drop me some comments below.

UPDATE JULY 24, 2019:
Hi all,

Here is final pricing model and IC form.

Standard Snaccbox (no weight) - $205
Standard w/ brass weight (anodized) - $245
Standard w/ PVD brass weight - $300
Founder’s Edition full PVD - $535

Extra PC Middle - $110

https://www.docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfH65mlWpZiWlgQIa_00eRduJSBuifbb4J4PJzEb5G3eTzuAA/viewform?usp=sf_link

*One thing to note here, I know many of you are out due to cost.. If we cannot hit the MoQ of overseas production, but we still have more than 10 in, I will see if I can get them made locally and then offer a cerakoted option. Unfortunately I have no one to do PVD here, we can explore shipping it to China to have that done, but will let you guys know. Thanks for those who are still in!!

UPDATE JULY 18, 2019:
Hi all, could you please kindly fill out the new IC form? Pricing came in today!

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSclXSs66SFqOD2Frk2PaiaD_YJlytJpUq4iHQEANL84_Wh0eA/viewform?usp=sf_link

UPDATE JULY 02, 2019:
Hey all, Prototype pics are up! I need to order screws and different pads for the bottom to confirm everything fits properly! I will also adjust the depth of the magnet holes so they are seated a bit better...

Pricing was requested last week and  I should have it by end of week here. Thanks for being patient everyone, I do appreciate it! This is a pretty big project for myself.

UPDATE JUNE 26, 2019:
Prototype is now complete! Teaser pics are in the thread, I will be updating the OP with my own shots of the prototype once it is in my hands. Should be arriving by early next week. I will be reviewing the final options and plans for Standard and Founders Editions as well as pricing before we launch the GB. Stay tuned, things should be moving a bit more quickly now.

UPDATE March 08 2019:
Hey everyone, thank you for your undying patience with this project. I made a post not long ago about manufacturing problems previously. I was not confident in the ability to run the GB smoothly and timely, and thus have switched manufacturers.

The new manufacturer is overseas, so this changes my hopes for schedule etc.. But I promise it'll be worth it!

I am currently finalizing some changes to the design and adding an angled foot as well. The aim is to have it completed by Monday, and off the the manu for pricing. I then need to pay for the prototype and I am hoping to get my previous manu to refund me by then or it might be a week or two wait..

Once prototype is done, I will review it here and make sure it's satisfactory. We will then jump into GB! I will probably put a cap of somewhere around 80-100 of these, there will be an MoQ of 50.

Please check this form for a few optional preferences!

Old Updates...
More
UPDATE JAN 03 2019: Hi everyone, thank you for your patience. Working hard with my machinist to get this prototype done. He’s had to make a few modifications to effectively handle the design and produce a high quality product, we ran into a few snags initially. Planning to finalize this over the weekend and get the prototype done! Standby for pics.

Oh, and pricing updated below as well!

——————————————————

Below are some renders. Design was developed shortly after my first case, and to fill a different purpose - displaying your artisans in all their sexy glory.

Just in the middle of talks with my manufacturer on this.. Somewhere ballpark $165, we are looking at ways to make it a bit cheaper, however the intent is to keep it with a premium look and feel.

ROFL. Just a stackable middle probably won't help. Mendis blows through 5 of those in one setting.

I'm in based on price. I think $150 is probably my limit, but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far!

Would I be the only one interested in small etchings around the edge to letter and number the rows ?  Alot of the times it is alot easier to explain/ show off with a number attached so others know which is which.

Current standings for colour options:

I am hoping we get the numbers to offer two cerakote colours, and then I will try to ensure we have an ano or polished alu in there for those that want a more metallic/natural look.

Very excited to see the prototype. How strong would the magnets be to hold the lid on? Are you trying to make it strong enough to flip upside down without the lid coming off? Are there any plans for a grove to pull the lid open (similar to laptops flipping the screen open, see below)? Or are you planning on keeping it flush around the case.

Magnets will be strong earth magnets and will be adjusted based on prototype results to ensure lid stays closed upside down. Holes for caps should be shallow enough to remove without a tool, but without letting them flip and fall out of the holes.

There is already a groove (basically what you pictured, but it is not split over the gap) on the lid for grip to remove the lid. See first image. I will explore shifting this downward so you can more easily split the middle and the lid.

D'oh my mistake. I thought that indent was for the optional engraving, but then I saw the actual engraving in the same picture. I am not a smart man.

Hey All! Sorry for lack of update, I've been sick with the flu and busy af at work! Machinist is just getting the bits back together to extend the working surface so we can keep the case the size it is.. I'm getting daily updates from him so hopefully we can get started on actual machining later this week..

Yes it has! After we talked about cases for over an hour, Ive really decided I can almost wait no longer .. Im having to keep caps in a  large box with foam for storage atm. This Is a much needed addition for my collection!
