Asian Arowana being illegal in most Western countries is so extremely stupid to me (Canada is one of the few you can own one.) Yes, wild ones are endangered, but the ones sold in stores are always 100% captive bred by long lineages of special-colored lines that go back decades. They have 0% wild in them. Additionally, they would NEVER become an invasive species because you'd have to have brain damage to release a fish that cost you $10k.
The US could make SO MUCH MONEY with Asian Arowana breeding, the cultivation and techniques go so deep it is crazy. Just a dumb archaic law from decades ago that is totally out of touch with the way they are bred now.
You are a poor **** so why does it bother you?
Also, wiki says "Possession of Scleropages formosus by private citizens is prohibited in Florida and New Mexico.[31] " are you sure it's illegal where you live?
