Cross posted from another thread about the NerD because I'm not sure if GON was following that one.

If buying a acrylic case and nerd pcb, do you need to purchase the SMD and LEDs and other components separately? (I see them for sale on the website as separate parts, but not sure if included in PCB order or not).

Couple more quick questions:

1) Have you stopped doing the GON NS 87 case with semi-glare?

2) Are you going to be discontinuing them at any point?

I think I have one Mid-part left. And I don't know whether I will make  more or not...
AL plates are not difficult to machine, but its mid parts are not... so I usually have mid-parts in stock as many as I need.
Now, I have one left.

Hmm - looks like there are some issues with my A.87 pcb that I can't iron out myself in a hurry...

Seeing as a NerD TKL PCB and one of the acrylic cases is actually less money than one of the A.87 compatible cases - a couple of questions about the NerD TKL if I may:

1) Is there a reason that orange LEDs aren't available?  I have some of these which have a forward voltage of 1.8 - 2.2v so I'm guessing the 680 ohm resistors would be best if the board supports them.

2) I see on the product page for the PCB that the keymap editor isn't available yet.  As standard, does it support this layout:

3) If it does support that layout, which key/s are the fn keys and what is the fn layer?

That's it for now!

Thanks again GON - most appreciated :)

1) There is little demand for Orange LEDs because they are too similar with REDs. So I don't stock them. But you can apply them to the PCB if you want.

2)3) Refer to the following links. Keymap editor is not a problem anymore, it will be released at around the end of this month.

Thanks for getting back to me.  So with a Winkey layout (1.5 - 1 - 1.5 - 7 - 1.5 - 1 - 1.5) does the right-hand 'windows' key (the 1x key) act as the fn key?  Does the board come pre-programmed with this layout or another layout (a 6.25 spacebar for example)

Thanks again

Great - thanks again.

Last question - I'm trying to decide on what colours to go for in terms of the case.  Do you have any pictures of the "Orange (Transparent)" acrylic that is available for either the plate or the mid section? (http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/housingscases/82-acrylic-housing-for-nerd-tkl.html)

Cheers

OK thanks.  Fairly certain I'm going to go for black top and bottom.  Just need to decide on either orange plate and mid or transparent orange top and mid.

Would the orange that isn't transparent let any light through?  If not then I might have made my decision :)

Hi GON

One last question (I hope)

On the NerD PCB page at the bottom of the page it gives the option for side LED colour.  Does this mean that they are included in the price of the PCB or would they need ordering separately?  (i.e If I selected Orange would I actually receive 33 orange SMD LEDs or not?)

Thanks

George

If you want to solder SMD LEDs yourself, you can order them at Accessories Category.
If you want me to solder SMD LEDs, you have to choose "Optional Soldering = Side LEDs and resistors for them" which charges you extra fee.

What resistors are recommended to use for white LED's on the PS2AVR mx-miniU? In-switch square 2x3x4 white led's will be used.

I want them to be extra bright!

If you don't connect it to PS/2 but only to USB, 470R will do.

Hi margo,

Well... I can if I feel I need to.
It's just a matter of priority.... I don't have enough time to do everything... ;)
So... I do first what many people want or would want.

Just to make one, I have to sample it.
Acrylics are not suitable to make multi-layout supporting plate...
How many want ISO only layout? ;)

P.S. I considered all about NerD - Physical PCB design, Functions, Firmware and GUI - at the very beginning of its development. ;)

I don't think very many :)

Plus I realised the GON [CTRL]ALT 60 supports ISO, so I will just use that. I just wanted to build a little ISO board :)

Hi Gon, pls check your email ;)

Sorry, I will check it. ;)
hi GON, whats the update on my small order?

Will be shipped next week. ;)
(They are already packed and waiting for pick up. ;))
hi GON,

after you ship my items, should i receive any notification in my e-mail? maybe from paypal?

Either from paypal or at www.GONsKeyboardworks.com orderstatus. ;)

Wait... so that means my order hasn't been shipped yet?! My payment was accepted 15th May and it's 19 August today....
Btw I sent you a mail asking the same question...

Sorry for delay...
NerDy GUI took more time than I expected this spring....
But I shipped your NerD today, and you can check your tracking number at your order status.
You will need a couple of days till you can track with that number.

Thanks for your patience, ;)

Even though I have made/assembled/tuned HUNDREDs of keyboards for others, I myself don't have a full-tuned Custom Keyboard now.
So Ironical!

Not sure where you're located.. but when I got my tracking number from Gon, the kbd was at my house on my doorstep in 3 or 4 days. You might not have to wait as long as you think!

Sorry... I had to spend almost a whole month in developing... Which means, I could not assemble for the time being....
