[IC] KKB Triumph Adler Neo | Returning a classic
« on: Tue, 25 June 2024, 11:51:09 »

KKB Triumph Adler Neo

SKME Discord MASJE Discord IC FORM

WHY???

Both James and I want this. It is as simple as that. A classic set that we believe should make a comeback.
Keykobo at this point have been putting out a good product in a reasonable time frame. What's not to like?!

Colors

We will be matching to the original. I will have my hands on this when I return on July 10, and then we can proceed.

Kitting
Target prices are subject to updates.
The key thing to note, despite kits being split, is trying to get a 'full base' at $95.

Base kit - $72 estimate

Numpad - $13 estimate

Addons, including 40s & bars - $10 estimate

F-row and shine-throughs - $12 estimate

Norde kit - $20 estimate

Alt mods, considering a slimmed-down version of this - $40 estimate

We may consider text-icon for the alt mod kit specifically. Here's a render sample on the Glare. Let us know!

More

Full kit pricing
Target price for BASE + ADDON + NUMPAD = 95 USD

Deskmats

Work in progress.

Vendors
We have reached out to blank regions earlier today. Subject to updates.
Confirmed vendors:
MENA - SKME
Taiwan - TypoWorks
US/CA -
EU - Oblotzky
UK - ProtoTypist
SEAS - ILumKB
OCE - Daily Clack
China - Zfrontier
Korea - GeonWorks

My luck with Indian vendors is all over the place so I handle these orders myself, and would suggest if you’re located here to create an Aramex SNS account. It is an efficient method and wholeheartedly cheaper for the buyer.

KKB Deutsche Mods
German mods are very cool. It is an option I really want to bring to the table.
New molds will(might) be made for these - it is expensive, we're doing some hard negotiating.
If you are seriously interested in these please take note in the IC form, it will help us gather more information and ideas on how to approach it.

Yes please.

Figured I'd leave my thoughts here as well:

- I'd love to see R5 for this, even if offered as it's own kit.
- Nipple 5? I've heard of KKB's stance on new molding, but considering that potentially 4 numpad kits are offered here this seems like the best time possible to make it happen.

R1 PgDn and End can be moved to numpad kit since those are for 1800 support.

Awesome project. Prices look great too, GLWIC!

Hot take

Love the F row kit where you’re gonna front print the OG F row symbols. What if those caps were also relegendables?

I’m still gonna buy without it

We already discussed potential putting in a r5 kit / nipple key into base (taking out the previously mentioned pg up/dn). I’ll come back to this in a bit, thanks for bringing it up

IIRC TA and TA90 were using different colours.

Also ne chance for using the better mod option of Mods + Icon ?  :p

Damnit I mix up the nomenclature…I should clarify this, and I’ll update the post tonight. The original GMK rerun for TA got colors way off, so I’m using the TA90 from 2018 as a test. Still going to hunt the original ta set, pre GMK, and use those as well for color samples. All will be shown publicly as I’m testing.

Text icon? Perhaps. Make a note of it in the IC form  ;D

Set looks nice, GLWIC

But if i had to say something that KKB is known for having not the best placement for their legends like for example the right-shift key.

I noticed there's no UK support in the Norde kit or otherwise. Which is fine, though if it's selling through ProtoTypist there, they might like that?

We have it rendered - I forgot to add here, but TLDR all uk orders will have this included afaik

Unless something has changed I'm pretty sure any KKB set purchased through Prototypist have the option of adding the ISO-UK keys free of charge. Jae eats the cost because he's too good to us.

I'm definitely down for a few sets and I'd love to see the molds get made for German mods.

I think I would have expanded 40s kit to feature more keys to be honest. The way it is it seems to aim for mainly Minivan (12.75u) style boards.

Kinda wish there was also alt alphas kit (simply inversed, like what the base mods are). I would then buy base, alt alphas and alt mods and have two monosets.

Will you offer UK keys in the base kit or NorDe kit? You show them on the Petrichor render, but I can't see them in any of the kits.

Kits to be rerendered i believe but Jae has an agreement with KKB to get UK ISO specific keys included for his orders :D

Base kit - $72 estimate

Show Image

Numpad - $13 estimate

Show Image

Addons, including 40s & bars - $10 estimate

Show Image

R1 End, PgDn keys should be moved from Base to Numpad since they are only ever used in conjunction with numpad keys in layouts such as 1800/CP/96-key. Example kit.

A second R4 2.25u Shift key should be added to either Base or Addons for 66-key layout compatibility.

Some mod keys are missing from Deutsche Mods, e.g. 65%/75% right column support and the aforementioned R1 keys for 1800/CP/96-key; but this is probably intentional to keep costs down.

Kitting looks pretty good otherwise.
