I was planning on the 'albino' version, all one base color white exactly as shown in OP as it is the very rarest version, and the one I myself want the most (yes I am a selfish person and will force my will upon you all lol). I can inquire about 1.75 shift if more than 20 people need it, but that will be the very last key I will consider adding.

I don't know, all was said was it maybe will be possible in the future and was being looked into but no timeline or anything was given to me. It did not sound like it would be anytime soon, and I don't want to delay this more on a maybe.
Spacebar should be easy, just use one from real Cherry set. Color seems to be pretty close and I think would be ok for most people if needed for now.
I also would like to add that will not need to sort sets, this will be done at the factory and each set will come packaged. There would only need to get the number of sets ordered into a box to be mailed so the amount of work should not be too bad.

There are some bigger unpaid orders in the $400-600 range that are the biggest problem. Most of the single set orders have been taken care of promptly.
I will talk with imsto and see if something else besides filling with blank sets can be done, but they already shaved a hundred units off the original moq.
If imsto won't lower the MOQ....maybe you can hit up some of the retailers like mechanicalkeyboards.com, techkeys, or keypop and see if they want to buy some sets from this group buy to sell on their site. Couldn't hurt to ask as this is a pretty unique key set.
Things aren't looking good. We are closer to 60% paid, but that is still a huge shortfall as we only barely made the moq anyway. I really don't want to have to cancel the whole thing, but opening orders again might not cut it either.
Also reminder to get your orders paid. As soon as everyone has paid the sooner these can be into production and to you.

Colored legend options might be interesting, but I am not sure how much extra set up might be involved with that. Not sure if they would want to do something totally different for just one set or not, but if more people are interested I can definitely look into that.
Another option might be to just order a blank set and have imsto hold it and work out some custom printing options with them directly, which I can also see about.

Yeah that's right except the letters on US International set are not Russian I think. I think people are saying it's Cyrillic.
So basically:
US Internation = US letter in black Cyrillic in blue.
US Standard = US letter in blue.
People getting the blanks should know that the modifiers will be white as well, they aren't doing the white/grey combo that MMB posted.

looks like logically at this point we only have a few options:
1. Drag it out till we make 300 MOQ. (No clue how long that will take)
2. Everyone go buy 1 more set and see how close we get.
3. Resort to alternatives like imsto or something. (blue or grey keycaps)
4. Cancel the order entirely.
For 1 or 2 to happen we need to make sure that everyone is willing to be patient with it.
Personally I'd be willing to buy 1 or 2 more sets just to make this happen and then sell them off myself later or something. Though I'd want to be sure that everyone's willing to stick with it.

All the sets base color will look just like the example photo of the Russian G80 in the OP. All same color key, similar to current G80 white 'hellgrau' style.
I never done sample before. I always saw having sample made as waste of time and money. I ask imsto if they have any of the white key on hand to have some example key made, but can't get full set on this color since moq need to be met before set can be made. So a full set sample on the correct key color is not even possible.
If the Hangul set organizer want to offer white for thier buy, I would be happy to work with them.
Just ask him for a high-rez version of that, and I can photoshop the red legends blue.

It's not too bad. Saw someone with a CM Storm and the gunmetal and the dark grey cap looked really good together. Looks alright on white and black case too.
From what I've seen the red comes out very dark on those gray caps. Nice but nothing like what lysol was going for originally. Why did so many people [more than half] decide to not pay? I know that some Korean forum people started a super lame 37 key buy. Not sure why.

From what I know seems like it's whiter than filco's white/beige, but also not pure white. So kind of like a tiny tiny tint of grey but close to really white.

Good thing about this is that since blue and grey has no MOQ so it should be easier (in theory).
Please consider changing the Dvorak legends to blue. I'm sure that would make the set all the more appealing and wouldn't offend anyone with a current order as their primary concern is having a set with Dvorak legends.I know there aren't many Dvorak orders, but I'd prefer blue legends, too. As for all black letter, I wonder if we can just switch US International (black letter blue symbol) to US ANSI all black (black letter). I had a feeling most got US International because it was the only "US Letter Set" at the time, and I'm pretty sure they won't mind having the weird symbols missing. But you can probably do an interest check to see if those guys are ok with it. Quite right, US Intl is quite widely used in some European countries. I'm sure there are some that do want that, or they wouldn't have placed order for it, or would have asked to have changed it by now at the least.
Question about these caps.
Are these keycaps better in any way from the engraved and printed caps from Qtan and Feng?? I know these are dye-sublimated but are the blank caps thicker or higher quality than the sets that they sell? BTW, I am asking because I want PBT caps or my future mech and I may put an order in if it helps you guys out.
Also, would these work with any Costar board,... like a CM QFR or WASD V1?

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that yes, they should be compatible with a Costar board since the stabilizers are just inserts. It would also depend how the caps-lock is stemmed, either center or off-center. These questions I don't know!

I used MS San Serif for the font. I'm no font or keycap expert by any means, so I really don't know how accurate this is compared to what will actually be made, but if nothing else you at least get a better idea for the final product. Additionally, stock arrows from photoshop aren't going to very accurate, either, but heck, close enough.
With a little direction I can revise it to better reflect the final design.

Okay, Rev B: smaller (2pt drop across the board), new font (Shruti); "Control" instead of "CTRL;" most arrows scaled down a bit.
The photoshop document I've got going is basically a flexible template now - fonts/colors can be updated pretty quickly (and in bulk for the most part). For example of what's possible with a minimal amount of effect (and some decent photoshop knowledge), see the second combo I've uploaded. Also, if someone could update me with the actual font intended for production, I'll see if I can track it down and update the template.
Doing another layout (ie, Russian, etc) would be a pain, but I can upload the photoshop document if someone else wants to take a stab at it...
Edit: Now on Rev C - cleaned up spacing, added win 7 style logo and right click/menu keys

Good eye! Yep, I had ordered a set of those caps (the same color combo) from qtan's ebay store, only to have it canceled for lack of stock. The thick PBT/dye subs in this group buy are basically my replacement. So order up people, these keycaps are gonna rock!

Well basically I wanted to keep the amout of options down for both me to manage the buy easier, and also for the factory so they are not overwhelmed with dozens of things. I also have been leaning mostly toward sets that Cherry have actually made at one point.
I have accepted that having a few more options may be necessary, but I still want to keep it sane as possible. Nothing with less than 30 sets intrest will be considered.
I'll leave it to the group to suggest, and support other set options. If support is there I will add those options to the order form, or I can let someone else collect all of those orders and just forward the money to imsto, whatever is preferred.
It would also probably be a good idea to IC these new ideas in the IC thread of it's own, to gather more attention.
Sticking to all white, as that is what the moq is all about. Even though imsto has grey in stock, they don't split full set to sell just the mod keys. So unless an equal amount of people wanted the reverse of white mods and grey alphas I don't see it happening.

In regard to the legends, they will all be 100% correct Cherry. I have been working hard on making SVG from photos of Cherry keys to make it as perfect as possible. So these sets will be using that, not the font imsto used on previous set, which as many have noticed is not exact to Cherry but just close. I am not sure about the Hangul though... I have not found real Cherry with that so the other font may have to do for that characther set unless someone can come up with a set of real Cherry for me.
I'll definitely look more at the RGB set and the Hangul set one you get closer to the 300 MOQ. I just can't do it right now, I'll have to start selling some of my other cap sets to make room for these.

Invoice gets locked once it is paid with paypal. They don't allow it to be changed anymore. So instead of people pm me all the time asking to change this and that I am just asking everyone to hold on, and I will give a chance to change the order before it is sent into production. This way I can just get a final count and update everything all at once which I think will be easier for all. I hope that gives you some clarification.

I will leave orders open until next Friday 16 November to allow everyone to get thier final orders in on the latest set options. Spending $75 on keycaps seems like such a silly idea, but the blue font looks nice.
Seems I have a week to figure out if I want to officially join the club or not with my first custom keycap set.
$75 is actually cheap for these, they are normally $95 if you were to buy a similar set outside the groupbuy. Also keep in mind these are very high quality, and will last much longer than some cheap pad print or lasered abs set.
I kind of felt this way before but after sampling various keycap sets being produced today, I feel these are the only way to go.
SP doubleshot ABS, which is the most popular option, tends to go for >$50 and the quality is pretty bad IMO. KBC printed (thin) PBT is generally around $45-$50 shipped, but rubs off quickly. KBC also makes engraved PBT for the same price, which is supposed to be pretty good quality if you want plain black or white keys. WASD makes ABS keycaps for around the same price, and is supposed to be fairly good for what it is—thin ABS.
And then you have these thick PBT keycaps, which I find to feel much better than the others due to their texture, lower profile, and greater weight. They are higher quality, more durable (possibly on par with SP doubleshots for durability, minus shine and crappy QC), and look very good.
Other options not being considered are Qwerkeys and SP PBT because they are even more expensive than these.

Trying to decide if I want RGB on my blue letter set, because Alt from the RGB is blue. So I'd really only be getting Red/Green on Shift/Ctrl while all the other letters are blue.

I have some Imsto "white PBT" keys and a Rosewill "white" 9000, so I went and physically compared them just now. The Imsto "white PBT" does not match nearly as well as that white Yin/Yang key does. The Imsto "white PBT" is definitely more gray than either of those other two whites. It is about halfway between WASD's White and Light Gray.
I think you could get away with these keys in a white Rosewill, but you couldn't do that AND include any bright white keys.
On the other hand, these keys look great in a black Leopold! ;D

What shade of blue are the US ANSI set legends going to be? Is it more of a navy/dark blue or more of a royal/pure blue?

Like the primary legend blue in the first pic in the OP. Blue on the US Intl, same blue. The blue on the RGB will be more bright, like the Cherry RGB keycap color.

Shipping from imsto using 5 day EMS was $25. I assume it will be the same. You can opt for standard shipping which takes up to two weeks or more. I think that was like $7 or something.
I think he charge shipping when he's about to send them out (after order close, send in the order to factory, then the factory ship back the finished products to him), but I'd assume it would be at least 3 weeks away or so.
As for now we only pay for the keycaps :)

I like the grittiness :DI agree. People who like smooth caps can go and buy used ABS.
It's plastic, spend an hour or two with some&and dry or emery paper to produce any desired texture, from three day stubble rough, to smooth as raw silk.

Does us blue have winkeys???? All the sets are ANSI 104 keysets with bonus stepped caps lock for cherry g80 type boards. So, ya, all sets have win keys. :)

We have discussed this with imsto many, many times. He told me that MOQ was 3000 pcs to produce winkeyless sets. Not gonna happen.This is the problem with the first idea. Ridiculously high amount of keycaps needed to be bought for it to come true. Is that 3000 sets or 3000 1.5x keycaps (in the correct row of course) by the way?
I contacted Cherry for the lulz. I am sure they will tell me to go to hell but we will see. Even if can get keysets from them, it will be for next time not this buy.
Majority payment for our order has been given to imsto.
But it is possible to order bulk blank caps for sure from Cherry since Chaos does. If I can't get in touch with Cherry myself I will ask them for thier contact. Found out the source of Cherry keycap, it's actually another company GMK electronic... the same that did their doubleshots... which they still make. Wait WHAT? BOOM! Got some inquiries in.
IF we really can have new key sets made in correct Cherry profile, with correct legends and colors, by Cherry's own OEM manufacturer, I foresee the practical end of the "rare Cherry key cap" market. No more $500 dyesub sets or $250 red Esc's. People who purchased Cherry key caps as an investment opportunity, rather than something to use on a keyboard, will be sorely disappointed when the bottom falls out of the collector/secondhand market. Why pay a premium for "vintage," when we can have the exact same thing newly produced?

In regard to the legends, they will all be 100% correct Cherry. I have been working hard on making SVG from photos of Cherry keys to make it as perfect as possible. So these sets will be using that, not the font imsto used on previous set, which as many have noticed is not exact to Cherry but just close. I am not sure about the Hangul though... I have not found real Cherry with that so the other font may have to do for that characther set unless someone can come up with a set of real Cherry for me.

Yes, I have already spoken with imsto long ago about them mailing Asia region direct as it make far more sense to send from China than to US and back again. As far as I know he's still fine with doing this, but I will check in with them again to confirm.

If you bothered to fill in your mailing address on the order confirmation you are getting direct ship from imsto. If not it is coming to me.How do we know if we did this? You should have gotten a rather weird e-mail asking you to confirm your order if you needed to make changes to your order.

Just received my package. Got stung with a $20 charge as well. Is there any way to resolve this imsto? I did not receive any such charge even when I ordered things like the aluminum poker cases from you. Sounds similar to the problem faced by the Koreans.

I hope Imnsto will take into account possible customs and taxes when shipping to Europe. If the final value of the shipping would be clared as $60 we wouldn't have any kind of problem with customs, otherwise, we may face to pay about 30€ extra

I'll be pretty upset if we don't get RGB as ordered. That was pretty much the only reason I ordered two sets instead of one.

If you got a 2nd invoice for shipping already, your order is sent from imsto direct and should be on it's way to you already. If you didn't then you will have it shipped by me after I get them.

China Post Register Airmail is an economical and slow shipping service. Normally it will take about 2 to 4 weeks to arrive destination country from China.

This is hardly my first group buy, but the only time I saw someone delay this long after production was complete and shipping was paid for was Changdrew and we all know how that ended. As you say, production was completed by 1/27, which was when we paid for shipping, with the understanding that that was when packages were going out. The group buy itself was paid for last year.
I'm not sure how you are connecting a 1 week+ holiday, that ended over 2 weeks ago, with taking 5 weeks to ship. All of these packages have an acceptance date of 3/4, indicating they were dropped off at the post office a few days ago. I've already received multiple packages sent by China air mail that were ordered all throughout February, so this has nothing to do with holidays and the postal system.

Umm, don't go settings deadlines, because they will always be passed. I suspect they will either arrive at my door in July 2013 or not at all.
In which case this Group Buy organized by this person, will either go down in my book as the "all time great" or in my other book, to be avoided at all cost for the future.

There are a few people pursuing getting a buy started for dyesubs from BSP, who make the Desko sets. They also do not have spacebars for some mysterious reason, though they have 1.5 in both A and B profile, and ISO enter. From preliminary info sets could cost anywhere from 60 to 120EUR depending on what price tiers for quantity. So naturally they also have the Cherry legends. On the one hand I won't have to recreate anymore legends, but on the other they are probably not as flexible of splitting the order into various legend arrangements. We will have to see how that goes but it could be the way for those that are interested in those options.Lysol why other font when cherry one looks most desireable? do the same thing you did with this GB just get the 2 tone color retro style.... Is it just me who thinks this 2 color would look awesome with Russian legends or Hangul, or the international legends + choice of having RGB colored legends for Shift , Ctrl and Alt...
If going with same source with imsto again, I might be more inclined to use some different font(s) for something different next time. Since the real deal Cherry stuff is now available I don't really see a lot of point in making imitations anymore.

I don't understand how you haven't got you'r yet George, mine's sitting in my local PO depot (only six miles away) having been an attempted delivery on Tuesday - and as far as most couriers are concerned I'm in the Highlands&Islands (I'm not, but that's another rant for another time) and as such should be penalised an extra £20 and two-five days...Mine was in the first round (march ) and still hasn't left China yet. Shipping times can be pretty random, but it looks like the US is in for a wait.

If you ever want full GMK sets to happen I do encourage you to buy at least something from the current GMK buy. Getting the alpha numerics in doubleshots is easy. I think the outer-lined version would be sexy as hell. You keep the colour down to an absolute minimum yet you can see the letters/numbers clearly. PLUS there is no example of it anywhere in the keyboard world (please correct me if I'm wrong on this).

Yes many people have made the complaint about the nubs in the past. Only way to do anything about it would be new mold which would be very expensive.
I’ve got the same problem with my Filco and my Cherry dye subs, especially with the right shift key, it can’t even be pressed down completely. Don’t know about these yet, but I will post about it.

Indeed some of the legends are not the typical ones, as I did model some of them off of more esoteric versions I have from older Cherry keysets for fun, or I simply did not get some of them right lol in some cases.
I can check with imsto, but I don't imagine adding some alternate blank or some other legend 'super' key for non Windows users would add too much, maybe a few more dollar. I was thinking to have some with Cherry logo for example.

Although I do not have the set from this GB in my possession yet for comparison, the # legend on my Dolch set looks very similar to the cherry replica set photos posted ITT so far... I believe the retro cherry # legend is quite flat compared to the other legend sets out there.

Nah it's just annoying... but the feel... think about the feel...
I was looking around today then I noticed all cherry double shot have # sign like that. I think that's how it's suppose to be. A little bit weird but I guess IvanIvanovich did a good job at copying it exact the same :P
Also as promised before that I'd take some non-potato pictures when I have time. So I took pic of both set that I got. Initially I like the blank better but now I think I like the blue letter set better.

The Cherry grey is still a little bit different than the Filco beige but I think this is the closest match that I've seen aside from the Filco stock keycaps. That and a bright sunny day definitely make everything look better :P

Lol another question, anyone else have this problem where the inside of enter key grinds with the stabilizer wire?

I took the pic with number pad 0 because I'm too lazy to pry open enter key but it's same idea. Where after I press the end all the way when, when the wire bends 90 degrees the middle part of the stabilizer wire will grind against the inside of the enter key. I had to take a knife and shave off the inside a little bit also swap my stabilizer wire from enter key with my backspace stabilizer wire for it to work properly again. Is it a problem with cherry profile keys or maybe my stabilizer wire is bent ever so slightly?
It's because costar stabilizers suck.
I don't know if scoops would be possible. Actually on most of my Cherry dyesubs there is nothing. F J just have a regular flat key like D K. No scoop, nub or anything at all.

Don't worry he's a lot like Qtan, always busy but he will eventually contact you. You are definitely not the only one pm'ing and emailing him. He gets hundreds of messages per day, I don't know about you but I would give up responding after 40. ???
But he does respond to everyone, just not immediately.
I got my PBT set from him last week and he never responded to my pm's but it's the one's I wanted and all is great. Just know that he isn't an immediate responder but once money is handed over he gets the stuff made as soon as possible. The postage is dirt cheap hence no tracking is provided but his stuff gets through.
I've never had a lost shipment from him.

Blue on White is extremely nice. When and if mine ever do arrive on my doorstep they'll all go into a G80-3000 series board. I had to take it apart and clean it, due to moron's who love eating and drinking above their keyboard. It's always foul to open up a Cherry Keyboard and find stuff that you wish weren't there to begin with. :-[

agree, dark gray or black alphanumeric and dark green or lime green for the internatonal legends would be much more appealing than Green on lime green. Ivan, will you be offering the green set without the bright green int fonts? I want that deep green/dark grey set without the icky (imo) green.

International set is looking pretty good on my QFR with the dark grey IMSTO dyesub modifiers.
The font on the most recent sets is a little more bold and larger in comparison (more accurate to the original cherry legends if you ask me), but I think it still looks pretty good combined. ;D I don't have authentic cherry dyesub to compare, but I do have DS:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/EPqOiCm.jpg)
