Had to look up what a vTuber is. Now I have to carry this knowledge with me for the rest of my life. So whilst I'm extremely ungrateful for that, I do think the board is fantastic, and I would like to get in on the GB (details pending)!

very cool board, layout is interesting but bottom weight doesnt really pop to me since its just a circular window, also are you gonna send one to Caliope herself? I dont really watch vtuber but its still a cool concept :}

If it is possible I definitely would be down with sending one to Calli!

I don't watch vtubers, but it doesn't seem like the keyboard was inspired by a character. Could you explain how it's linked to the vtuber? Thanks.

Welcome to the weeb side of the hobby - where loose associations with something 'kawaii' can be used to sell any combination of design schemes, colors, etc, regardless of how strong/poor the actual design is without the added association.

Bit of a hot take there mr. drama hooker, isn't that the point of the hobby? To express your designs in a variety of ways? If you don't care for the inspiration, whether strong/loose/whatever, then that's your opinion. If the design is good or bad, then you can point that out specifically, but you're complaining about a personal opinion of 'the weeb side of the hobby' and not the board itself.

Pretty sure I ended up being right about those switches... Might have to look it up again to remind myself.

> If you don't care for the inspiration, whether strong/loose/whatever, then that's your opinion.

I don't care for the inspiration - That's why I shared my opinion.

That would be called 'extrapolation.' Lots of keyboards and keycap sets that are designed around "weeb" things tend to focus on stuffing as much thematic related content into as little space as possible without regards for the actual product *or* taking simple color schemes and claiming it is related to x or y or z character without much more effort, though that is much more prevalent with keycap sets. I think this board specifically is decently well designed and has many points of interest - but its so focused on selling that its related to this character/person that it both doesn't market it's strengths and cuts out a bunch of people who are turned off of the theme.

Thanks for saying my board is decently well designed—I put a lot of effort in the design, and if you do or don't see the inspiration, that's okay. I tried to keep the inspiration pertain more to the curves and layout, which I believe resembles Calliope's scythe and general design. For the parts that are more specific to her on the design, I tried to keep them subtle (like the ':}' on the top of the board which is just an emoticon) or the engravings which cannot be seen during daily use. I also decided to keep most of the inspiration out of the IC post because I honestly think most people don't care or can gather the inspiration because they are fans of Calli. Just my thoughts  :)

I didn't say you were wrong about the switches, I just like the nickname bestowed upon you. I also don't care for your blanket statement, if you don't like it that's fine. If you don't like the theme that's fine and I'm sure the designers are well aware they may alienate buyers, but guess what, that's their decision. You can share your opinion, obviously that's what the forum format is for, but it really doesn't warrant some biased opinion that you're trying to pass off as a factual statement.

And just so we're clear, you think the board is well designed? Good points of interest? Then really in the end that's all that matters.

*Edit - Also you mentioned it had a loose association in your initial thoughts but now it's trying to so hard to associate with the vtuber? I'm confused*

i'm not siding with anyone and i don't particular care about the vtuber herself but if you don't have any constructive criticism but instead of bashing it because it's a "weeb" keyboard, negative posts to **** on hololive, or random posts like wtf is this, just go else where.

i think it's a nicely designed board but there are some things that i dislike like the emoticon engraving (i think it would be cleaner looking) but to OP, i think it's best to change the thread title instead of "Vtuber keyboard", i didn't know what this was (what layout, mounting, etc) till i had to read the thread itself.

I'm guessing the most they could do is ask that the name be changed. The board design is obviously not something they could go after and :} and a scythe outline aren't owned by anyone.

Quick update:

After just under a week of responses in the IC, I am deciding between a few things:

1. Adding another color (either lilac, red, or e-white) due to people wanting these colors.
2. Adding a bit more of things that represent calli on the interior of the keyboard. I originally had some stuff but decided against including it for the protos. It seems a couple of people do in fact want this, so I will be including some stuff. I think including calli stuff on the inside appeals to fans but doesn't make the keyboard any less appealing to non-fans :}
3. Potentially adding FR4 as a plate material. This isn't too likely, as I will be releasing the plate files if a GB does happen
