There are only a few acceptable reasons for him keeping the tester.  He is dead.  Or he is in a comma.  Or he has gone crazy.

Hashbaz, you have his full name.  Did you try looking him up on facebook or linkedin?  I like the idea that Talfrey giving him a visit.

There's a Facebook account with the right name with a "lives in" city listed that is less than three miles from brsp's address.  No wall activity since September though.  The mother of this guy is active on Facebook however, so I guess I could try to contact her though that would be kind of creepy and I wouldn't expect a response.

I will probably do that as well I dont know how ever how I will place the switches or what reserve would be ideal. Also though about custom WASD caps to match the switches.

Edit: just checked out you layout I plan to follow it if that is ok

You can use the layout however I would recommend forgetting about it and thinking about your own layout for a day or two to see if you come up with anything better. I changed that layout many times and still have one or two reservations on it so it may be far from ideal even though I feel that it has been narrowing in on what a good tester should be.

I can send you enough black and clear springs as well as blue, black and brown stems to complete a tester, for those parts, if you need them so long as you cover shipping costs. I am out of, or reserving, the clear stems, red stems, and light springs that I have left after building a tester so you would need to procure those items separately.

Yeah, give that a try.  Nothing more to lose.  Maybe his mother will tell us he is dead and we can all feel bad.  And then she can dig up your tester and ship it back to you.  :-)

So I went through my inbox and reread all the PMs I got from brsp.  He seems totally sincere.  Thanked me several times for the opportunity to try the switches, said he was making review notes and had a picture with his guitar ready to post, actively solicited the next address when I forgot to send it to him.

So I can only conclude that he is either a phenomenal and unnecessarily detailed liar, or he decided at the last second to keep the tester, or something happened like death/coma/invitation to attend Hogwarts.  There is also the possibility that he can't log into GH and can't send the tester on for some reason.  He said he was having issues with GH before he went silent (he could read/send PMs but not post).  Maybe he's locked out?  brsp, if you are lurking and reading this, please send me an email at b a c o n b i t s 2 3 @ g m a i l [dot] c o m.

The mom of the potential brsp on Facebook apparently doesn't accept messages from people she is not friends with.  Either that or I just can't find the "message" button on FB's annoying new Timeline profiles.

I would be interested to participate in a future round, but I live in Germany.

Btw, why don't you let people pay a deposit of 200$ (or whatever sum would be appropriated), they get back when the next person in list has confirmed to got the switch tester?

I contacted Brad through a personal account he gave me a while ago, and his brother just got back to me. There are clear extenuating circumstances that I will forward to the necessary parties. I don't see if fit to make the details known to everyone, but he has had some serious health issues that will prevented him from mailing the package. I will PM the full story to Hashbaz and iMav, as the minutiae only really concern them, and I stress those who left him negative feedback, myself included, to either have it removed if possible, or counteract it. I have requested that the packaged tester be forwarded to whoever was next in line.

Thanks Quarzac.  curro, the tester should be on its way to you soon.

I don't know what to say about brsp except that I feel terrible for judging him and badmouthing him in the thread.  All signs but one pointed to him being sincere and a stand-up member of the community, but I still let my frustration over losing the tester get the best of me.

Yeah, we'll go ahead and finish the schedule.  If curro wants to play with it he of course can.  If not, he can forward it straight to the next person.

Good that he is still alive.  I apologize if I made quick judgment, BUT, I think the negative feedback should not be removed until he really is back and rekindle with this community.  As far as *his account* is concerned, it is still a bad account.  No one should do business with this account until he is back for good.

Whether he is sick or not, the fact that it took a few people time and effort to track the tester down and to get the tester back is a testament of why no one should deal with this person, whether this incident was intentional or not.

Ha, yeah you missed a lot.  Short version: we thought brsp had stolen the tester, but we learned just the other day that he had a medical emergency (that is still ongoing) before he could send the tester on.  His brother found and forwarded it to curro.  I'll have him send it to you next.  I'm PMing you the address I have.

Sorry to hear about your accident brsp25. Having had to personally deal with two major family health emergencies during my time at GH, it's a reminder that you NEVER know what's going on in another person's personal life. And it's important for members to remember that every time they post.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Really?  TLDR?  Bad form, man.

You can use any mechanical numpad, though plate-mounted pads are harder to mod (they require soldering).  I just searched "mechanical keypad" on ebay and turned up a bunch in the $30-$50 range.  Many of them seem to have brown switches.  You can get browns, blues, and reds from squarebox here.  Mouser and DigiKey also sell individual switches, though I'm not sure exactly what they have (just google them and search for Cherry MX).  The blacks and clears on my numpad were harvested from ebay keyboards.

We'll have to see where the tester is in May.  If it's convenient you're welcome to take it to your con.  Feel free to PM me if you want more detail or have specific questions.
