Anything for you my friend.

Gas Mask Key Cap - Acrylic Keycap Box

Price $28.00 / £17.58

There are 40 spaces for key caps. Bigger keys (e.g. Ducky Artisan skulls) can be accommodated  as there is plenty of space. Each keycap compartment is roughly a 210mm square. Roughly 150mm height maximum before the lid will not close fully.

The drawer is created by a cut-out in the acrylic. The hinged lid is created by an acrylic screw in each side. The drawer slides out easily without any resistance, although you cannot slide open the drawer without lifting the lid. The lid is extremely smooth and almost silent.

Notch for drawer;

Drawer side;

Acrylic screw hinge;

Stability;

The box is very rigid, with roughly 6mm thick acrylic used. This is reduced to 3mm however for the drawer compartment. If you push on the back panel piece of acrylic there is some flex but I don't see this causing any problems.
The drawer is pretty loose and there is nothing to prevent it coming out if you tipped the box sideways for example.

Finish;

Box arrived very clean. There are some slight bubbles if you look closely. I'm unsure if this is to do with some sort of glue or just the acrylic itself, I have no experience with it.
The corners are mighty sharp!

Bubbling; more prevalent in certain lights and this pictures shows it as its worst

The closed lid rests on the high lip of the drawer. When the lid is opened, it rests on the back panel.

Open lid resting on back;

Value for money;

I am unsure on the prices of acrylic or indeed acrylic items so I am unsure on that front. For a niche product however, I think it is good value and is sturdy and does exactly what I need it to. Although advertised as being able to be stacked, they will lose their drawer function which is a shame. In certain lights fingerprints seem to be everywhere, but that is just acrylic in general.

Let me know if you want to know anything else

Cody's board isn't the LZ-MX Mini SE, I was just giving llovro the correct name for the board he was thinking of. The board/case cody got was the 'Pla Poker case' I believe?

The colour scheme is one of the standard realforce ones. They sell plenty of boards in these colours. So far I can't quite put my finger on these switches.. They feel nice, but not mechanical. Just nice..

Titanium colored hammer case. It doesn't match my titanium spacebar as much as I would like, but it's still a really nice case.

In fact, it's my first aluminum case ever!

Televideo 925

Very yellow case
35682-0

MX-compatible switch stems
35684-1

Non-MX compatible caps (SA or SS profile, I can't tell) - very thick
35686-2
Stems are attached to caps at an angle, making a really stepped array

Some kind of linear switch - short travel, heavy spring, very smooth
35688-3

Caps on a MY-7000 board, ready for peroxide bath - showing how the caps fit at an angle, bottom of cap is not parallel to plate
35690-4

Another interesting project board!

I have no idea where I can get things laminated. I guess I could do the ghetto version and just print it out on some card stock and put it in a sleeve.

From the original thread

Just print it out and have it laminated at officemax, kinkos or someplace.

Uh-oh.  We are on page 404 of this thread!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

eh, dunno how about you, but i'm on page 242...maybe you can set up post per page? :)

Hmmm, perhaps.

Definitely page 404 for me:

Also, congratulations on 100 posts! :)

Some very awesome binge caps!

 :D I'm so glad they got to you alright.  That wasdson is rough but he's the only one that ever came out that way.

I like it rough haha  :p

And now I keep wanting to make voices for my two binge caps and act like they are talking to each other.  ::) I may need some mental help.  ;D
