Everytime I see those nubbinator caps... I think you need to make a gore pack with some organs...

Some heart, brains... etc.

Cherry G84-4100PPAUS (would've liked the SPAUS but whatever) from eBay that the seller had marked new without box. Turns out that it is definitely not new - pretty dirty keycaps and one of the corners was broken to the point where the screw mount had broken off the inside of the case (and it wasn't from shipping either). Weirdly, it has also been painted to roughly what the case should look like, presumably by the seller to appear new. I don't really see why they would've done that (other than obviously to aid in lying on the item page) but I found it slightly amusing given that the auction finished at £3.19.. I'm fairly sure the paint will have been close to that in price anyway.

Anyways, not exactly bothered about the condition of the keyboard, I used some denture tabs on the keycaps and they came out pretty nicely and I glued the broken screw mount back in. I just wish he hadn't painted the case as I would've liked to try my hand at retrobrighting it. It's come out pretty nicely in the end, fairly decent tiny keyboard imo.

- Horrible potato pic as main phone camera isn't working and SLR is out of action.

Wow!  That's very nice of them :)

Congratulations.

That RGB set with white legends is particularly splendid.

Lucky cat <3  And those GMK surprise caps are great!

I had a surprise cap of my own!  Mr. Nubbinator sent me one with these cryptic words "see if you can figure out what's special about it".  I was intrigued!

This morning, the USPS delivered a small package where I found this little guy:

48847-0

I thought hrmmm  what could be special about him... Let's see, I love the color.  He's got a lot of detail, like the wrinkles:

48849-1

and there's even a signature imprint

48851-2

He's a little sad looking

48853-3

But what is that special something?..

Then I finished taking photos by my living room windows and went to get my phone, as I was getting a phone call, while holding the cap.  As I was talking on the phone, I looked down....

and well...

I saw this...

48855-4

He glows!!!!   Like a lot!  Super radioactive cyan!

He's going to take an honorary spot on my LZ-GH once it's reassembled, where he will have plenty of LED goodness around him :)  Thank you, Nubs!!!

Yay!  It got to you really quickly after I dropped it off.  Glad you like it.  I'm kind of sad that you figured it out so quickly, but you got an awesome shot of it.  The glow in the dark caps are fun.  I definitely plan on playing around with that more.

These nubbinator caps are hilarious :). I've put myself on a spending hiatus until the next paycheck, but I'd otherwise be all over the current sale…

Glad you think so.  I do love whimsy, so when I made them, I wanted something that was playful and amusing.

Good to see it made it to you so quickly.  I love that green and glad you love the cap.  And no clue why I just thought of this, but I need to start drawing something on the packages in addition to the little note.

As to bulging eyeball, maybe.  I have been looking at doing some bicolor or tricolor caps and figuring out how I'd want to do that.

To be honest, I didn't just figure it out on my own...  It happened purely accidentally, and I wasn't expecting it at all.  I just walked into a dark corridor while talking on the phone and holding the cap right after it spent some time by a window in bright daylight, so seeing it glow was a real surprise :)
